I don't have the time or patience to piece together a set of wrenches from eBay, flea markets and pawn shops, and pretty sure I'm not alone in that. It's great that you were able to do that.
Then buy the whole sets used like I did. $70 a set
Side note: If you have time to sit and post/argue about tools repeatedly on GJ, you have time to piece together tool sets...

Y'all are funny - I don't want to leave my home or scour eBay looking for singles. If you do, that's wonderful.

Yet you’ll complain about the price of quality , and settle for less when given the opportunity to purchase them for less than half price without “scouring” for anything.

Tilting and windmills and such…

Your reading comprehension is lacking. My issues are price vs. value when it comes to a lot of things like this. For nearly $400 for a metric set, the additional performance isn't worth the $$$ for me. For the difference between my Carlyle set at $133 and a new SO set for $199 from eBay, I could probably talk myself into that difference if I was using them often (or professionally).

But hunting piecemeal to make up a few bucks on a set price? I'll leave that to y'all. (and, without sarcasm, if that works for you, that's a fine thing)

[EDIT - I would note the classifieds here have been pretty great]

Agree. Never heard of or thought of an angle wrench being referred to as a line wrench. But I just work on cars. And I can't remember the last time I needed or saw a fellow tech use an angle wrench.
Where I grew up north of Pittsburgh, a "4 way wrench" was for wheel lug nuts, a "line wrench" was for fluid lines using flare nuts, and an "angle wrench" was, well, an angle wrench with offset open ends. I think a lot of colloquial terms are at work in these definitions.

I thought the topic was why didn't Icon sell line wrenches. Looks like topic has changed to Snap on is better and the best to buy them
Any discussion about line/flare but wrenches begins and ends with SnapOn. They are that much better.

I agree. SnapOn line wrenches and 1/4 wobble extensions are the best you can buy but if Icon did sell them they probably would be decent wrenches for the price and easy to just go into a store and pickup a set

My guess? Probably too easy to spread the jaws on a line wrench (with improper usage) which would equal too many warranty claims.

But they sell the lower cost versions. The higher cost that the Icon set would sell for at retail should cover the wrenches they warranty. Kinda like most tools truck prices factor in the cost of warranty in the future

I agree. Tool truck brands tend to price in negligence into their warranty or service plan. I know HF tends to not care when the tools come back but their warranty is pretty much for defects NOT improper usage.

I love mine, they're worth it. Holding control arm bolts, alignment access, buried tube nuts - they're surprisingly useful. Not a daily use tool, but they sure do shine. Sort of like torque adapters - when it's their time, nothing else works.
Can’t believe a thread about flare nut wrenches is going to get me to buy torque adapters. This place, I swear!

Get the snap on set.

The ones that are made in Taiwan and sold by sunnex, cornwell, Carlyle etc. are inferior at best and dangerous to use at worst. Trust me…

Let's look at some testing that includes Taiwan-made line/flare wrenches:

I understand that conversations flow and evolve but but I don't think every tool conversation should flow towards Snapon. The make some great tools but some not so great. I can smell the roses but don't have drink the Kool aid

Literally anything showing that Taiwan torque adapters fail commonly.
Anything at all counts as proof?

Want to be sure ahead of time so that I don’t waste time only for you to say that what I show you does not count as proof.
