William's S-52 and B-52 disassembly tool

I know I can figure out a disassembly procedure, i can get pretty creative, but does anyone know if theres an actual spanner or disassembly tool for these style superratchet designs?

There was a wrench made by them for the 1/2 and 3/8. I’m still not sure why I didn’t buy it when I saw it for 14 bucks on Ebay however many years back.

EDIT: Oops, I missed 3bay's reply. I've never seen one for the B-52. I think most people use an adjustable pin wrench - Williams B-52 ratchet and Gland wrench

So, fella i started working with had this sitting on the shelf and said he had no idea where the retaining nut went. Anyone out there parting out an old s-52 that might have one for sale for reasonable price? I told him i have just the group that might be able to help out with one. Thanks!!!

I just use a small punch to fit flat into the retaining ring notch. Then tap on the side of the punch. Takes time.

Theres one of the tools for it on ebay now. Might try for that today if it doesnt go too high. Hopefully someone has a soare ring sitting around for me to buy too

I bought the factory tool and it broke the first time i used it. I found heating the ring with a lighter and applying kroil while hot helped getting it out better than anything.

I made a tool out of Cornwell 1/2" drive socket. 1 1/16", and reworked the end with a dremel to get the four bumps to interface with the ring.

Zrunner, I have the old ring retainer I pulled out of my rusted ratchet. Hadn't made my tool yet, so beat it out with a punch and then cleaned up the notches as best as I could. It's as ugly as sin, but the threads are fine. It'll get your ratchet operational. I'm almost afraid to offer such a beat up part to anyone, but I know how hard these rings are to find. If you want it, PM me.

I use the smaller 1/4 drive Snap On antenna socket on the 1/4 drive Williams sockets. I haven't found or made anything for the 3/8 and bigger ratchets yet tho..

That is exactly what failed.
Ill add a picture. You can see where it snapped. That is the ratchet underneath it that won the fight. I ended up making a spanner to get it loose.

You know how they made those, right? They took a factory face spanner, with much larger and round pins, and machined them down to the shape of that little opening. Not much steel left. EDIT: But yours was really stubborn. Wow.

I was expecting to see the pin sheared off, not a chunk of the casting missing. Wow is right.

I've got parts from a B-52 (3/8"), but I doubt that they're the same size as S-52.

I've got the 3/8" and 1/2" versions. They are different size gears. Same basic design, very smooth operation.
