So I picked up this Wilton 60176 Vise to rebuild but I am trying to find more information on it. It has 4” jaws. Is there another name these vises are called?

I think the 60176 can be a 4 or 4-1/2 inch machinist vise. The term Wilton used was "Wilton Machinist Vise". The common name is a bullet vise. Pictures would help. Unless it was beat on by street gorillas using sledge hammers (which has happened!) that vise will outlast you.

There is a date code stamped on the bottom of the slide. See if you can pull the dynamic jaw all the way out and see what that date is. But it looks like a great example of a Wilton. Doesn't look destroyed, as some do. Grease it up and it will give you great service for many more years.

Yep
Date code is 280 so February 1980

Do you know the actual model it might be?

Generally a nice Wilton machinist vise... and by "nice" I mean one that hasn't been beaten on by street gorilla's wielding sledge hammers... from what I've seen these vises in the 3" to 5" range fetch around $100 per inch of jaw width, plus another $100 or so if the swivel base is present. So if I were selling your vise I'd ask $450 to $550 depending on how badly I wanted to sell it. Your friend did you a great favor! Buy him a beer.

My boy, you have started down the slippery slope to WILTON BULLET ADDICTION. Stop while you still are able. If you get another vise, soon dreams of Wilton baby bullets will take over your mind, and every waking moment will be spent searching thrift stores and visiting estates sales. Don't ask me how I learned this. I think I've got 8 or 9 Wiltons now, and most are beat-to-**** bullets that I couldn't resist rescuing.

Hello all, just a newby here. I stumbled upon this little gem a few weeks ago. I planned on restoring it, and using it until i die. In need of a set of jaws and bottom plate. Any ideas ??

My 2-bit guess is that is a 1980's vise. Just a guess. What is the date code on the bottom of the slide?
This vise will outlast you. you'll need a set of jaw inserts and if you search ebay you'll find a swivel base for it. How wide are the jaws?

Appears to have 3 holes for mounting the jaws. Unless on is a guide.

4” jaws. Did not find a date code on the slide anywhere.

More than likely 2 screws and a center pin. The date code on mine was on the key slide. I did not see it until after I disassembled the vise

You can get by with jaw inserts that only have the two holes. Wilton put the center pin in mostly for strength. You won't be using your vise to bend crankshafts with a sledge hammer... I hope.
