So I have been watching for a good large vise locally since I finished up my welding table this spring. Until yesterday I hadnt had any luck at all with the only vises I had been seeing were for sale by guys who where cleaning vises up and flipping them. This C2 wilton popped up on marketplace yesterday only a few miles down the road from me. While $400 was more than I really wanted to spend for a vise I couldnt walk away from it. Other than needing a good cleaning, paint being a little rough, and a few marks on the jaws its in really good shape. So this brings me to my question of how can I tell when it was made? I suspect this isnt that old just by the overall shape its in but I am curious.

Link to welding table it will live on.

My welding table serves more as a mobile work surface around my shop than for welding really. Currently it’s covered with parts from a 1943 Grob NS-18 that I am slowly rebuilding.

It's a 98 or later. What are the last 4 digits on the spindle knob? It's a beauty and worth every penny

nice find. A newer wilton is bigger and stronger than the older ones. I prefer this style to the older ones.... I'd say you got a deal since a new one goes for 1500+
