Hello,

I have come across this Wilton vise, well part of a vise that is. Question is, I have no idea what model the vise is and if I can buy a swivel mounting plate for the vise. Any info would be appreciated. Cheers! ImageUploadedByTapatalk1387218777.358115.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1387218795.490600.jpg

Doubt the parts are available. Even if they are, I doubt they'd be worth the money.

IMHO there are much better vises out there to start with. I wouldn't pay $5 for that one unless your hearts set on it.

The fact that it's missing the base and is an open screw design make it worth not much more than a paperweight IMO.

I agree that its not one of the more valuable Wilton vises, but it does have nice jaws and doesn't look like it has been welded or repaired. since it is missing the swivel base it will be hard to mount and buying a swivel base is not cheap unless you happen to find a broken vise.

if you can pay around $10 for it and have a neighbor or friend that can torch a hole through the side without the swivel pin it could be a decent vise to bolt to a bench. clean it up and put some lubricant on the main screw and I bet it would hold most anything not too big. it's probably destined to go to the scrap yard or be a parts vise if you can't save it or don't need it.

good luck

Thanks. Any info on model number? I may find a base if I knew what model to look for. Did Wilton have universal bases for different size vises?

sorry not an expert on that style. I've owned maybe 10-15 Wilton Bullet style and they were and are great vises. Google a bit and you may find information about your vise and then maybe be able to find a swivel. I still wouldn't spend too much money on it and Free sometimes you get what you paid for.

free is a good start on this one though. good luck

I have (what looks like) a smaller version of that vise, and parts are not available from Wilton. FWIW, mine has a swivel base and it will not hold under a lot of torque. It's a basic single-bolt lock on the swivel with no teeth to engage when locked down so it's prone to moving. But...it's a good vise, esp for free - probably better than a $70 hunk of pig iron you'd get new today and as recommended I'd have another hole added and just bolt it down direct.

It's actually cast iron, so easier to just drill another mounting hole and bolt it down. Use it that way till you come across a better one. Looks like it may have an issue with the screw, missing a collar maybe?

Yes, it is missing the collar, washer on bolt. Looks like I can pick up from hardware store. Thanks for all the replies. Yes, I think I will drill one more hole and mount on bench top. One can never have enough vises! Thanks.

Mine has a 4" jaw, opens 3-3/4" and has been pounded on, ground on, sanded on, painted on, glued on, etc., etc, for 25 years of homeowner use. But, as I mentioned it will rotate when torqued on, drill a hole, bolt it down and enjoy.

That's a fine homeowner vise. Drill another hole, mount it to your bench & use it.

Should last a long time.

Thank you all. Now I'm in search of a collar for the screw. I'll try to post pics for follow up when complete. Cheers!
