what insulation did you go with?

Thus far just “microfoil” on the roof. I believe the R-value is rather insignificant on this stuff but it serves as a vapor barrier and should reject some radiant heat.....or so I’m told. At some point I’ll frame in the enclosed side, spray foam an 1” or so, and then finish it with drywall or ??

Trim is done, ceiling liner in (they also built in an access door), and garage doors started.

Simply amazing... wow, what a crew.

Watching this progress the last few days, through your photo's and posts, I am forced to reflect on the abysmal crew that built my Lester building.

It took the Lester crew 25 weeks to do what the MQS crew did in 4 days.

Doors are hung and they’re just now cleaning up garbage, screws, nails, etc etc. they should be wrapped up and gone within the hour.

When the windows....yes them windows....come in they’ll come back and get them installed.

Thanks everyone for your feedback and support. On to planning for power, lighting, garage door openers, and insulation (for the enclosed space).

I picked up the windows yesterday and unloaded them at the shop last night. They are Milgard Style Line, 48x36, with integrated J-channel......in clay color :)

2 of the 3 guys from the crew are coming to install today. Any tips or tricks to be on the lookout for? I’ve never seen, or perhaps paid attention to, windows that have integrated J-channel.

They'll cut he hole in the siding, cut a small 45 degree slit at the top for the flange, loosen the siding, slide the windows in from the bottom, and then attach them with the same screws.

Add a little silicon at the 45 degree slit.. done.

It'll be a piece of cake with two guys... especially those experienced guys.

That's going to be an awesome space Dan. Are you by chance Dyno Don's brother? :3gears:

If they do your building the way my Lester building is made they will frame inside the building for the window after the steel has been hung outside. But they don't cut the steel until after framing.

So the good thing is you could reorder the windows and have a sealed up building until they arrive....

But the bad thing is you would have to cut the steel yourself.

It takes a couple guys to install a window. One guy to kind of pull the steel out and away from the building at the top, while the other guy slides the flanged window into place.

Three guys, even better.

The details below are for a Hayfield Window Unit.... yours may vary.

Rough opening is pretty tight. 1/4" larger than window in width, 3/8" larger in height.

They actually pulled the siding panels down, installed the windows, measured the siding, trimmed, and then reinstalled
