Windshild wiper arm removal tool

So i have to replace the wiper arm on my vehical and never done one on a car before do i need the tool or will it pop right off like on equipment ive done... The tool looks cheap so i didnt want to buy it unless i need it.

Normally you just flip a plastic cover off, undo one nut, and you should be able to remove the wiper.

Depending on the vehicle, and how long the wiper has been on there, it may or may not come off easily. I find maybe about 50% pull off, 25% need a tap or pry, and 25% won’t shift without a puller.

I got the puller shown for the equivalent of less than $30 and it’s quite good quality, even though made in Taiwan. I haven’t found a wiper it hasn’t shifted,

I've removed wiper arms. I've never needed one. For a long time, I was oblivious that a specialized tool existed. I would try first and buy the tool if you struggle. I have needed to wiggle wiper arms a bit before they popped off.

I became aware of this special tool the day I saw one marked as clearance at Princess Auto. It was ~$2 and I actually bought it thinking it might make a handy small puller. I haven't used it on a wiper arm yet.

Second gen Ford Escapes can be tricky, I had my junior tech break the wiper motor cast aluminum frame while pulling on the arm trying to remove so watch the pulling and prying if you don't know what is holding it together.

Well i got the old one off with a bit of tapping new one will be here tommorow.... I might just buy the puller since it does battery cables to

The best is made by a company that specializes in auto glass removal tools. I've got one but it's buried in a box somewhere. The problem with most puller tools is that they only work on certain cars. Yep. I've had mixed luck on my cars pulling and tapping a bit. Nothing else will fit so I dropped the coin ($140 or so) on the BMW tool. It's got spring loaded adjustable jaws. When you need it, you'll know.

Looks like the one I use is the same as the auto body tool mart one shown above. It's worked on everything I've tried it on.

I had a KD one and would buy another one in a heart beat. I use it for battery cables though and makes it an even easier job.

I've got a snapon battery clamp puller that works pretty well for wiper arms. In fact I actually bought it for wiper arms. It's only been used on a battery a few times



I've also got an old little craftsman 2 jaw bearing puller that sometimes fits

Don’t have a picture but the Lisle 65750 is easy and cheap ($5-6). Gets into tight places like my ‘71 vette where the puller types wont work
