I am wiring my shop. I have a 200 amp sub panel in the front corner.

The trusses are scissor... kinda looking like a flat ''A". I like how it looks and may leave it open, but certainly for a while.

What I want to do is put a tray, or wire rack to lay the romex on so it looks tidy.

Recommendations? I was thinking about some wire shelving and cutting it to the proper width.

Initially I was going to use OSB scrap from the sheathing, but worry that dust and dirt would become an issue. And bird nests.

Thanks for any ideas.

It's for a horizontal run.

Banging around on Home Depot's site I discovered 2" wire loom which would work better than what I had in mind.

use emt and thhn? If you actually bend the pipe instead of using expensive and crappy offset connectors and use the emt itself as the ground conductor(which is perfectly safe and legal) the cost is very close to romex when i calculated it out. Even if you use a ground conductor you only have to use one per pipe not each circuit. IE if you have 2-14 gauge 15amp circuits and 1-12 gauge-20 amp in a 3/4 emt you would only have to have 1 12 gauge ground for all three circuits

I just priced 12ga in EMT vs 12/2 romex and because of the economy of scale the romex is nearly 3X cheaper. Maybe I'm just getting bad pricing on EMT?

Be sure to consider how much cable you're trying to put in one spot. There are rules about that.

Any reason you are not looking at metal clad cable? Running romex outside of the wall is not to code in my area. You either need MC cable or EMT.

Wow, I am going to have to eat some crow. I just went and looked at menards and a 3/4” stick is up to 6.50$. Late last summer it was 3.23 and 1/2 was 2$ and some odd cents. Sorry, I didn’t realize it had climbed so much and wonder why?

Typically one has to "secure" the NM-romex every 4-1/2' which means every other truss on a 24" center system.

One could go up there and run some strings and mark off nice parallel pathways and simply staple them to the marks.

This is the idea I'm speaking of without a real plan...with planning it could be much neater.
