doubt that would pass in my area, the cable needs to be minimum 1`-1/4" from a finished surface , unless it has a nail plate to protect it .
your wire is virtually laying against the exterior metal siding

correction, the wire has to me a minimum of 1-1/4 from the framing , not from the finished surface

I always run it behind the posts. Seems to be common practice here.

If you keep the romex up tight against the post you can maintain the 1 1/4" requirement since your girts are 1 1/2" thick. Common practice and I passed inspection with no issues.

If you're worried about it passing an inspection, the only people who you should be asking are the local code officials who will be doing the inspecting.

But it's common practice where I'm at for the reasons mentioned, looping it behind the post is much faster than drilling a 3/4" hole thru a 6 or 8" post

I did that, but used metal conduit. Then covered it with spray foam.
