These are obviously
not examples of the Western Auto Store brand tools being referred to above, but I was looking for a place to put these photos, and this thread subject actually works well for Wakefield's much earlier tools, too.
I found the No. 19 monkey wrench at a flea market today. The PATENTS PENDING marking dates it to 1919, when the patent was applied for, to Nov 14, 1922, when the patent (1,435,548) was granted. After that, the patent date is stamped on them.
I found the 6 inch combination slip-joints last year. I don't know when they were made, but they have a very thin profile.
I am fond of the logo.
