I decided to trade off the parker for a Desmond Simplex 5 inch jaw. The parker seemed to be slightly better quality just from sheer weight, however, the desmond had a preferred bolt pattern, and I like how precise it is. I have 1 coat of tongue oil down, and maybe 1 or 2 to go.

My oh my, that vise is certainly a bright green.

(but please, it's "tung oil", not 'tongue oil'. Unless you somehow came across or made a wood finishing product using oil extracted from tongues. )

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tung_oil

And that finish looks a bit thick-n-shiny for what I think of as a plain/pure "tung oil". Looks more like a polyurethane-type varnish to me (from here, over the internet, via a few pictures, blah-blah-blah.)

Hmmmm, the grain pattern between the two boards isn't quite book-matched. Tsk, tsk, tsk, that will never do. Oh, the embarrassment. :D

Tell you what, I'll take it off your hands to save you from future internets embarrassments. :D

:spit:

All kidding aside, looks nice.

Now go dirty it up and bash something on top of it. :)

It is pure tung oil. I just put a coat on during that pic.

very nice, I did my welding table the same color, give the shop some variety. Less likely to walk into it too. Nice fab work.
