Oooooooo ****** !!
Welllllllllllllllllllll, I've been pretty busy.
Apart from the usual goings on in the shop, we have had Christmas & New Year thrown in (belated seasons greeting to all)
We shut for 2 weeks at work, though I was very busy for the first week at home trying to finish one of the 1000 projects I have ignored for the last 5 years (since we built our joint)
I finally finished this
Back to the main task in hand
I spent the 2nd week of my holidays back at work, trying to get a little more done to the Shop Truck. The doors where locked (which annoyed a few, but in all reality, I wasn't supposed to be there
While I have the foof gutters in, I do not have a pic of them (sorry!)
I have started on the back of the cab
because the cab is actaully channeled an 1" I have changed the bead at the rear of the cab. The first pic below shows the new bead before turning it 90* at only 3/4" wide, while the other side is original at 2" wide & yet to be done
The first side cut & ready for welding in
Tacked off
Welded up
A close up of my ruff holiday welding
Cleaned up ready for final planishing
Second side in as well as the centre section made from new steel
The top filler piece welded in
a quick pic from inside
Most of the steel bracing is now gone with the beginnings of the main floor structure now going in.
I have started the apprenice on learning body work this year which includes gas welding, so he has already started the L/H front fender repairs.
I will attempt to spend a day a week on it for this year, so while training for the apprentice, we may get a little more done

We have Aussie day here tomorrow, so some beer, a BBQ & some beer

, but when back at work on Thursday, I have written up the Sop Truck as being on the Job Schedule for the next 2 days

as we have some big weeks coming up, I figured I'd get both some training & work done of it when we could.
I must be a sucker, as I have just purchased 2 "flat Packed" COE's for future projects. ( 2 cabs cut up...... who knows why??) Though I was told by a long time Rodder that I would probably be the only one game enough to take on something like that

I also was the highest bidder on a Chevy C20 Pickup with a 6.2 Diesel as our temp. shop truck until this is built, even though I was the highest bidder, it wasn't high enough. a Nice Pickup but he wants far more (& it was R/H drive !)
Spose they are pretty cheap with all you Americans, but to have one R/H drive, Air etc with nice paint was just too much to resist.
Now to another story:
I was on the phone to rego the other day (on a unrelated matter) and questioned if I could go from my approved 4.9 ltr on straight gas to a 6.2 ltr Diesel, well, to my surprise, I was told yes. He said I would probably be sorry if I didn't as I am going to use the Shop Truck for towing etc. The head man told me to think about it & get back to him if I wish to change my paper work
I will try to remember to take some pics later this week.
I have also re-built the 'B' Pillars (AGAIN!!) as once we started the final measuring on the floor was done (yes, a mate came in for a day to hold the "dumb" end of the tape fore me) I fould the doors where a little tight in some places, so more changes there.
Happy Aussie Day for tomorrow

(testing the beer now, it should be alright...............if there is any left

)
