If you are thinking of building a new workbench, check out the supplies I found in the Grizzly Christmas Catalog http://www.grizzly.com/catalog/2005/christmas/045.aspx

Here's a sample of one assembled:

I also like the "Super Heavy-Duty workbench Leg System" on that page since it's designed to add 3/4" plywood for a storage shelf below.

I have a ratty old bench I built 12 years ago from a Menards kit using 2x4 frame and 2x6s for the top. The price was right at the time, and I've beat the hell out of it, but I never liked the construction of it. There's not a straight piece of lumber on the whole thing, makes it impossible to sit anything flat on the top, and lots of small parts fall between the boards. Might be time to replace it.

Good looking stuff. I like the flip-out assembly table. Just be sure to use kiln-dried lumber...that's the problem with my old bench, crooked green lumber. I could probably build a new, flat top for it using my brother's trick of laminating 3 sheets of 3/4" plywood together as a workbench top.

Unfinished hardwood flooring, hopefully leftovers from a job? great idea, also cheap! That is assuming it was leftover stuff!
