I'm 6'2", built my bench height at 42". I stand straight up when working in front of it. Had it a couple of years now, love it.

Well I am done at the moment. Have to figure out where I want to put my grinder, or build a stand for it. In the picture you can see how I'm going to use my table saw, it will work but it's a pain to get it up and to put it down. Anyone ever used a movable self? I'm trying to find some plans for one, I think it would work for me. Help me out of you can. Thanks. Also what do you think?

Looking around I like this option, looks pretty simple to do. Anyone think it would work with my table the way it is now? I don't really want to rebuild the entire table.

Interesting thread. I'll have to check the height of mine later. I'm curious if the 'elbow' approach is where mine is at. Will advise.....

Sometimes you have to fudge it a bit because the swivel vise at one end of the bench won't be the same height as the static vise at the other end.
In my case the Morgan 40 is 7 3/4in & the Morgan 140 at the other end is 9in tall.

I'm 5' 8", my workbench is at 37", and I have approximately 5" of space under my elbow when standing at the bench with arms bent at 90degrees. I guess it could be a tad taller, but being slightly lower helps with the tasks I do at the bench- assembly, boxing, etc. For now I'm content. If I ever decide to make a different/better bench, I will revisit the bench height.

Built this bench in the mid 80's and it still gets used all the time. Built a detachable mount for my B&D 8 1/4" table saw (also mid 80's) that gets screwed solidly to the legs and the saw gets screwed to the mount. makes a great outfeed table.

I thought about a more permanent spot, but I don't use the table saw all the time and would like to be able to get rid of it when not in use.

Here's what the bench looks like without the saw mounted. On the rare occasion that I rip something long, I just slide the mount over the legs of the bench and screw it on, then attach the plywood gussets to the legs with small angle brackets, mount the saw and start cutting.

The saw and mount rarely get used, but the bench is always in use.

After much thinking and trying to do it harder than it really was I came up with a cheap alternative. Used what I had on hand. I do have to cut a larger platform piece.

Bench looks good, the only change I would have made is having the door overhang the sides of the bench so you have room for clamps.

Thanks, you can't see it but the other side over hangs by a couple of inches and so does the far end. I realized after I had built the frame it was wider than I first thought, had a brain fart. I'd already started cutting the bottom boards. So kind of is what it is,, I think it will do me fine.

Sent from my dumb apple products my work makes me use.

How do you like the Dewalts table saw ? I was thinking of doing a similar setup, that would include a mitre saw in another slot. I looked at the Dewalts a couple of days ago, seems like for my type of use, it would be great. My BroInLaw bought himself a Pro level Rigid stand alone two days ago, really sweet.

I love it, I bought a skillz one day after Thanksgiving and I hated it. Found this one on sale at HD and they let me use a Haber freight 20% so I got it for 200.00. No more than what I use it it's great.
