Can you show an end view of the new work? It looks like the 1 by material is sitting on the 2 by 2 ?
Or is it attached to the front of the 1 by?

I completely agree!I hate to say it, but paint might work better in this case. What I think would look GREAT is if you painted the pegboard white, and then stained the wood a nice dark colour, but that's a lot more work.
Wainscoting and interior trim work looks really good! It is going to make a superior improvement on the shop.
HAPPY NEW YEAR

Great progress Eric.![]()
Definitely coming together nicely now.
Looking good![]()
I'd pay $15 all day for that! A nice score I would say!!![]()
$15 is definitely a deal for a vintage automotive cabinet from the 50's. A cool piece of functional art.
Man, everything is looking great! Love how your garage is coming along, I'm totally envious of how quickly you seem to get things together.
Just for fun, I took a short video of a cold start of my willys truck. Would have been longer but the media card was full. Anyways, she seems to run well, I had the fuel delivery system all rigged up with fresh fuel and i ran it a while. Check it out below.

Why'd you take the video in portrait mode? I see ********* bars on the side of my laptop. Your video only occupies 1/3 of my monitor. Please take it in landscape mode next time. Thanks.
No worries about camera mode. I got the picture loud and clear. An engine that starts right up and purrs nicely. Good result from the carb clean and other engine work!
Looking forward to seeing those doors up and glad to have an update to read on your project. Cheers!
A big part of the project is gathering the materials and cutting them while you are in the groove, mass prodeuction style.now that everything is swept up, you can assemble a door or two without a big. mess. How many doors do you need?
I see the space heater. is the wood stove in service or not ready for operation?
The late FiL had a go at cabinet making. All of his doors sag and droop even with reinforcement plates screwed onto them. Any idea what he did wrong?
'88' is also the police call sign for domestic disturbance.
but yes you are correct it's just a number.. and it's your birth year so who cares what you call it.
Quit looking for the 88 emblem and it will fall Into your lap or maybe trip over it.
Birth year!!! How to make a guy feel old! That was two years after I became a cop! Where's me pipe 'n' slippers? I could find 'em if I knew where me glasses were...........'88' is also the police call sign for domestic disturbance.

What a read!
Amazing where you started with this shed, to your current state.
Very inspiring to see how well you have utilised what space you have, especially with the majority being free/recycled parts.

I know only a few posts ago I had said I was making cupboard doors like my old plan with the inset pegboard, and I had even started in on cutting material. However, I might be inclined to re-tool my idea slightly, seeing as how I picked something up that may work better and faster.

I mentioned that I've been going through old stock at work, right? well, one of the skids had a small load of Maple veneered cupboard doors for a boardroom or something, maybe 50 doors, 2'x7'. about 30 or so of them had no finish on them, and seeing as how resale value of old cupboard doors of that size is almost valueless, I stuck them in the free pile and forgot about them for a few days.
Anyways, I recently looked over one of them and figured I could slice it down to make it work for lower cupboard doors when I build the main bench, keeping the theme of Maple being the main wood. I then figured I might as well do the upper cupboards for some design continuity. I know they wont have quite the same character as the pegboard idea but hear me out. They're solid, so dust wont float through (and I make a lot of dust), they're pre-made out of quality AA grade Maple, they already have the edge banding glued on (real Maple), they're almost the right width as is, and they're free. The fact that they're unfinished is nice too, as I can do what I want with them. Well, that was enough to convince me, I took the unfinished ones home with me.

I even tossed an off-cut on to see how it looked, pretty nice actually, and it will be nice to finish the place out in something a little higher grade than the rough sawn pallet-wood. Best of all, $0.00
