Assuming the mill moves to the new shop....can you toss the builder a few bucks and have him sling that back into the new space as his last official act with the skidder before he loads up and moves on?

Wells Index mill will stay in the single side of the garage in the house... not moving that nor the big lathe... I will have the smaller lathes and smaller milling machine in the new shop. At least that is the plan for now.

They are almost done with the fill...

It’s been a couple of months, any updates?
In the same state, they are supposed to be here sometime in January to continue the work and finish installing the structure.

Has not stopped me from working there, lol.

Thank you for asking!

What a long road and process to get your building done. Mine took over a year but most of that was due to me doing the work. Enjoy the process and sneak in all the little upgrades you can while it goes up.

Replaced cheap wheels on the toolbox that I got from a friend….

Made a bracket, from scraps I had, to mount a cooler on the air compressor…. This is for the main garage. Only sees light duty. I will do something better for the one that goes in the workshop.

They don’t fool around about getting it done.
Looking good.
That is correct. I was amazed how quickly all that got done.

Today was a smaller crew installing the panels on the roof, drilling and bolting the structure to the floor, and installing the metal brackets for hurricane-winds certification.

Today they are waiting for inspection and will then do the felt on the roof and start with the install of the outside panels.

View from the road. Shingles should match those of the house... then I paint everything the same color as the house to blend it in. Trying to make it so that it does not stand out that much...

Looks good from that angle. Not obtrusive from the road. Gonna have it done in no time at all!

Yes. Even from the side as well... it will look like an extension to the house.

I will be buying more of the same shingles to redo the roof on the shed. I could not get it at the time we built it... but now that it is available again, might as well have all the shingles matching.

And I hear complaints from contractors in non-hurricane prone areas complain about hurricane ties on every 4th rafter or having to put an extra king stud in at openings and then I see this and just laugh and smile. I get irritated with FBC, FPAS and the associated stuff when it slows me down at work, but then I go and look at other states with similar attempts at local rules(Texas...California etc) and remember I'll take Florida over those anyday! Living in tornado alley I can't count the number of times I've seen rafters picked right off walls so all the strapping makes me smile :)

I had to... I had to... pretty sure they will ask me to remove it until it is done and inspected... but man, I had to... hahahhahahahaha. It was a gift from my friend (he recently passed away), when he had his Midas shops.

This, I hope they do not notice. Brackets for the LED lights... It will be awhile before I close the roof for adding insulation... so might as well setup three rows of 28' of LEDs to light up the garage until then...
