Well I managed to get a little done on the new veranda today ;D , half of the main frame is in and I'm hoping to complete the other half tomorrow

the place is looking great, can't wait to see it all finished. You could almost make some ramps so you drive the car up onto it and do your oil changes. Just wondering what are you going to use for a sealer on the timber.

Cheers, yes it's certainly strong enough to carry the weight of a car I haven't pick a sealer yet (next couple of weeks) I plan on staining the timber and will get advice on sealing/oiling

A couple of big days (around 14 work hours) over this weekend have produced great results :cheer: I still have around the same amount to do before it's completed, including the 2nd permanent seat against the workshop :blink: Very happy with how it's progressing though :y:

So I finally found some time and weather to get the main deck area finished A full days work and I have it to the start of the built in seating on the workshop side

Going to have to go back to the parents for a while. It'll be the mastery of the art of cramming 20 pounds into a 10 pound bag if I can squeeze everything into their garage. And just because moving house wasn't tricky enough, Mardi has broken up with me too.

Found a place in Rosanna. Hopefully get keys by Friday and can move straight in. The reasons for the split are many and varied (or few and simple depending on how I look at it) but in summary, there's a case of Peter Pan Syndrome, and it's not me that is afraid to grow up. I'll put on a BBQ on Saturday and we'll get stuff done. Thanks for the call the other day.

Sweet, so today I finished the frontage of the workshop seat and it also has a removable section to allow access to the drainage sump Still need to do the top, need to get more materials :

So now that the deck has progressed to the point of sealing I have had a moment to move back inside and build a second bike stand for my builds I was able to use an existing guide that I had from a bike trailer I had built a while ago then traded in on my new one (less the guide) The rest of the steel and the HD wheels I was gifted by the steel guy's across the road from work ;D So a cut or 2 later and a few welds and its a roller, I still need to add the mount for the ramp the loops for the tie downs, weld the back wheels not to turn and wire wheel then complete the second welds but great progress for tonight

I am not sure whether you have thought of this but grab your self some PVC tube end caps for the box section and install them after you have painted the stand. I think Bunnings only stock up to 50 mm, it looks like 65 or 75mm?? Elgate make them and can be brought on line for a few dollars each.

Cheers my welding is ok for someone who doesn't do a lot of it I used the stand today to finish installing the front brake system and found it perfect for moving around the bike

Isn't it funny how little details can make you happy , I picked this up a couple of days ago to make an extra tool stand for when I'm working on my bikes. Added the blue marine carpet and the red paint, just need to pick up some wheels for it and will be done

I do like giving things a second life, this stand had been sitting around unused for a couple of years so they were quite happy for me to take it away

So I had my Brother (IL) down for Christmas
Back in April 2009 he had hooked me up with this 75 400F needless to say after 5 years of no movement with it he certainly put a fire cracker up me to get moving ;D The original story was "The wife and i have just returned from a week long trip up and down the coast from Melbourne to Brisbane in our motor home, with plenty of stops along the way including Sydney where my Sister and her Husband Hardy live. How exciting you may say however Hardy is the bloke who although i have been into bikes for around 25yrs really got me into cafe racers and introduced me to Do The Ton. While visiting them he showed me the progress made and ideas for his own Suzuki cafe ( what a beast ) he also surprised me by very generously giving me a Honda Cb400f ( bored to 500 ). Needing some wiring, front brake and general tidying will turn into a nice cafe for myself, with a complete rebuild planned for after the wife's CB250rs cafe is completed, all the more reason to get hers finished now!!!!!!! So considering i had the bike trailer on behind the motor home with our Honda 600 tourer, with a couple of small mods i was able to bring the 400 back home and once i had recovered from about 3600kms of driving i spent a couple of hours looking over it and got it running so not to long before i can get out onto the road

The bike was a nice score, I must say that i have a soft spot for bikes of that era as i had a Honda 175 of that vintage, many years ago and sold it.

I've played with several tanks to get the right look as the original wont suit, a CB550 is to large and the old steel XR tanks are too skinny but I found a CB360 fits great. The only problems with it is the location of the fuel **** being directly above the carb and a few dints that will need to he pulled before paint

Thats going to be a rather neat fit with the fuel valve, are you going to reposition it or would you get away with an elbow and running it horizontally?
Its a little hard to judge just what clearance there is from the pics.

After a week of temperatures @ 41C + (106F) I was lucky to pick up this retro fan for the shop It has 3 speed settings and depending on which way I face it can be an extractor or refresher I fitted a mount into the window frame which allows me to easily swivel and remove.
