I'll be getting one of these and just wanted to let any users near an Aldi know in case they want one:

Looks pretty cheesy and seems like a terrible place to plug cords in. Always catching on tools and run across the bench?

LOL, I always try to resist these TGTBT Aldi cheap tool/garage/work things I see in their flyer. I tell myself theres no way it can be any good for that price.

Features sound OK...
Rotating LED work lights - 90 degree tilt
6 outlets
Individual switched outlets
Detachable tool holder

Would probably work better mounted upside down, at least that would keep the cords out of the way.

That's pretty interesting. I might have to stop by my local Aldi and at least check it out in person.

I think it might be pretty useful on an electronics work bench, where your screwdrivers and pliers would be small, and wouldn't be obstructed too much by the cords.

Here.’s a picture of the power bar with LED lights I got from Costco and how I got around the “cords across the bench” problem in my grinding area. 45845ec1a1c0b1f95c74a8f04cf2b723.jpg

Definitely worth looking into. I like the light and plugs in one unit. Don’t think I would use tool holder for permanent storage but would use “while working” tool storage.

All of the discount grocery stores in Germany sell tools. Aldi (Workzone), Norma (Kraftwerk), Lidl (Parkside).... I think they brought the concept when they opened in the US. Mostly Harbor Freight quality but there are some good deals on rarely needed tools. I've picked up a few made in Austria and Germany items such as saw blades and pry bars. Also some nice to have if needed tools like S and C obstruction wrench sets for $8 each. I have a Parkside multi-tool and have heard that some of the other electric items are decent for the price. I don't about the US based stuff currently since I'm in Europe but probably worth checking out.

I have been waiting for them to offer the ultrasonic cleaner at Aldi. I bought one for $12 and it has been used a lot. I want another!

I can see removing the cheezy tool shelf & mounting that over a real shelf or cabinet holding all my chargers in one place.

Anyone know if switching off a charger with battery mounted will drain the battery?

Why not a basic power strip and overhead lighting? Still struggle to see an advantage here

What if someone is just a hobbyist and doesn’t want to go through hanging the light and mounting a power strip on back wall. Are there beefier and better ways to It. Im sure but that wasn’t the point of it. The point was to show an idea that the guy thought was good and is sharing with everyone.

Well, I went out and bought one today at my local Aldi.

Its not too bad. The electrical components are pretty stout, 15A rating, thick power cord, substantial illuminated rocker switches for each outlet.

I mostly wanted it for the switched outlets. The tool holder is a bit cheesy like you would expect, and a normal sized tool will obstruct the plugs somewhat. Shorter tools won't.

The LEDs are bright. They're really not all that useful since they're facing towards your eyes and its easy to be dazzled by them, but they are a nice little feature, and I think I'll use them a fair amount.

The one thing I don't care for is it attaches with blind screws like a normal cheep outlet strip. I was really hoping for how big it was, that it would have mounting slots on the outside, instead it just has 4 little #6 screws that go into little slots in the back. I'll probably modify it, and mount it securely to a piece of plywood and then mount the plywood to the wall.

Overall, for $25, not bad. I would have loved this thing when I first moved into a house with garage from an apartment when I was 22. I can see this thing being pretty useful for a normal homeowner with a 20x20 garage with 1 duplex outlet and 1 screw lightbulb in the whole garage.

I stopped by Home Depot also and saw that they had a very similar product, basically the same as the Cosco one, also for $25.

lol, yeah it is a cheese colored yellow. It looks like it'd be alright for a shed or something -- lights, power strip and tool storage -- all in one.

Aldi carries some tool bargains for the masses. They have pliers (regular, needle nose, side cutters), screwdrivers, crescent wrenches, and some basic fastener assortments. They even have some power drills. Definitely not at a quality geared to GJ users.
