Most of them are flash parking spaces...I would like to see PROPER garages. Where work is done. Not with coffee lounges or TV theaters. Just real workshops.

The first 3 pics are my client in Alpine NJ. He and his family own one of the biggest realty management companies in the Tri State area. His father started out with a 3 family home in Garfield NJ, now have about 2 billion in properties. Maybe more.

Unfortunately you can't see it, but on the first pic, the left garage we did a quartz floor and cabs and the right garage is there everyday garage where the wife and kids use has garage cabinets, storage and a quartz floor as well. The middle garage is his detail shop. Unfortunately again, we met after he had his below showroom garage done.

As much money as he has, he's probably the most humblest and nicest guy I haver ever met.

I agree with you guys totally, I wouldn't weld in any of those garages! Personally I would sell the masarati and use the cash to build a real garage

Whether these garages are being used for work or not, I would rather see someone spending their money on showcasing their cars rather than some other form of art.

Who knows, these folks may have "work" garages too where they really get into wrenching on them.

Personally, I love to tinker on stuff so I need a good mix.

Looks like people are getting confused again, let's see if I can help this thread before it bombs like the other one:

Garage [ga⋅rage]
–noun
1. a building or indoor area for parking or storing motor vehicles.
2. a commercial establishment for repairing and servicing motor vehicles.

Origin:
1900–05; < F, equiv. to gar(er) to shelter

Shop [shop]
–noun
3. the workshop of a craftsperson or artisan.
4. the workshop of a person who works in a manual trade; place for doing specific, skilled manual work: a carpenter's shop.

Origin:
1250–1300; ME shoppe (n.), OE sceoppa booth; akin to scypen stall, shippon, G Schopf lean-to, Schuppen shed

Finally! A logical thinker.

Think about the last 4 or 5 things you did in your garage/shop that involved welding, grinding, sanding, painting, etc. Would you do all those things next to or even in the same room as a car you're not directly working on? Much less an exotic or collectible? Do you just throw a cover over it and hope for the best or leave them parked outside while working on your projects?

Let me know if I'm stepping on anyone's toes here, but is it the value of the cars that bother a majority of the members on here or the showroom-like garages they're parked in? Hypothetically, let's say I posted a photo of a room with a pool table in it. Would everyone automatically starting asking where they're supposed to cook, eat, sleep, or go to the bathroom? It's a billiard room if you will, technically a place were the pool table is parked. Would everyone begin saying they wouldn't have a room like that because there's no place to wash and dry clothes in it or there's no place to grill their steaks?

I'm no psychologist but there's obviously underlying issues or is it simply having a garage specifically designed for storing and showcasing automobiles a concept that can't be grasped by many?

You guys have are right, those are REALLY nice garages. I guess since I always used my garage as the shop, i never really thought about storing nice things in it! i'd rather keep my tools dry than any of the cars I own! If I had a nice car, I would probably look at those garages with a different eye.

Many of us aren't lucky and/or wealthy enough to have somewhere to park our toys away from the workshop area. We have to make do with a dual-purpose building.

amazing

I like the one with the BMW CSL/Alpina in it...
it has grass/perforated concrete in front of the translucent doors...

I'm going to look at doing that to my asphalt driveway...drill a bunch of holes, mix up some seed/soil, and fill them in...

Those are actually pavers made for just the purpose they are being used for you can buy them . I know a few people around my area who have used them to add parking spots along the road in front of their houses without making them look like parking spots.

Rick

thnx, I like the look...

I'm in the process of converting my front yard from the typical suburbian, grass, shrubs, etc., to more of a natural landscape:
large boulders
japanese maples
dogwood tall grasses
wood chips
etc.

I don't think we have any underlying issues here. Most of us around here love cars, tools, garages and shops. Most of all we enjoy working on cars in our garages. Some of us have modest cars and garages, sone of us have really nice cars and modest garages and some if us have nice cars and nice garages. You know that wealthy people enjoy working on cars too. Jay Leno for example. I think the best setup would be a garage/showroom/lounge with an attached workshop. No need to judge because at the end if the day we all share the same great interest.
