Looks like people are getting confused again, let's see if I can help this thread before it bombs like the other one:
Garage [ga⋅rage]

1. a building or indoor area for parking or storing motor vehicles.
2. a commercial establishment for repairing and servicing motor vehicles.

1900–05; < F, equiv. to gar(er) to shelter
Shop [shop]
–noun
3. the workshop of a craftsperson or artisan.
4. the workshop of a person who works in a manual trade; place for doing specific, skilled manual work: a carpenter's shop.
Origin:
1250–1300; ME shoppe (n.), OE sceoppa booth; akin to scypen stall, shippon, G Schopf lean-to, Schuppen shed
Finally! A logical thinker.
Think about the last 4 or 5 things you did in your garage/shop that involved welding, grinding, sanding, painting, etc. Would you do all those things next to or even in the same room as a car you're not directly working on? Much less an exotic or collectible? Do you just throw a cover over it and hope for the best or leave them parked outside while working on your projects?
Let me know if I'm stepping on anyone's toes here, but is it the value of the cars that bother a majority of the members on here or the showroom-like garages they're parked in? Hypothetically, let's say I posted a photo of a room with a pool table in it. Would everyone automatically starting asking where they're supposed to cook, eat, sleep, or go to the bathroom? It's a billiard room if you will, technically a place were the pool table is parked. Would everyone begin saying they wouldn't have a room like that because there's no place to wash and dry clothes in it or there's no place to grill their steaks?
I'm no psychologist but there's obviously underlying issues or is it simply having a garage specifically designed for storing and showcasing automobiles a concept that can't be grasped by many?
