A while back I was fortunate enough to get in on the Lowes Kobalt compressor deal. Got this compressor for $195 out the door brand new.
My father recently inherited a 3hp 60 gallon Ingersol Rand similar to this from my grandfather's estate.
My compressor is brand new, never run (in the processor of getting the dedicated outlet ran to the corner I want it in). The IR is 3-4 years old, but very lightly used and well maintained like everything my grandfather had.
I was joking around with the old man and told him I'd take that big compressor off his hands if he wanted to trade. To my surprise, he said he wouldn't be upset with that deal at all, as there was an old tv and stereo setup I was planning on giving him anyway.
In talking with my wife, she thinks I'm nuts to consider trading new for used. I am leaning towards taking the deal because the used machine is higher quality and should be more able to keep up with running air tools(mainly impact and light use of a DA sander) as I work on my 69 C10.
What would you do?
