Looking at wrenches. I have the Snap On set SOEXM710.

I'm maybe thinking about the Dual 80 ratcheting set, SOXRRM710. But it's $500.

My other option is Blue Point, or Williams. They're the same right?

They bit chunky ring size but do seem well made, prefer the facom 467B series reversible ratchet wrenches .

If you use them professionally with a snap on driver I suggest springing for blue point or snap on, the flank drive plus is a nice feature. Plus, you will break them eventually and the replacements are nice.

The Snap-on have noticably smaller edges for access not to mention the smoother mechanism. In this particular case I would suggest they are worth the price premium.

I have the Snap on set....I think they are by FAR the best ratcheting wrench out there. I've had most of the rat wrenches out there, (except for USA Proto) and the Snappys are butter smooth and super slim at the ring end.

I think the premium price will long be forgotten after they are still going strong. (That being said, I got my set for $200 on CL)

Yeah the blue point/Williams are solid, but the new Snappy are seriously the Cadillac of rat wrenches. I own a TON of diff types and brands and the snap on are above and beyond

Whatever you buy make sure the warranty is solid and easy enough to make use of. Facom are the best ratchet spanners i've used and they're easy enough to warranty, the smaller sizes can be easy to strip out.

Snap-On ring size is almost the exact same size as most of the offerings out of Taiwan from Kabo and Hi-Five. The heads longer though so you lose a little swing arc with the Snap-On if the fastener is next to an obstruction.

You could look at GW 120XP or Carlyle.

Here are some comparison photos. Notice the Snap-on ring is smaller by a significant margin. Also note that it extends farther and has a more aggressive offset. In the last photo the Snap-on is on the left and the Carlye is on the right. The beam is also slightly thinner.

Anyone have any experience with the larger sizes 21-24 or 1in and up. Seems like snapon only makes them in 0 offset. Blueprint makes a set but I have not been able to actually see them in person.

I did the same since for whatever reason snap on stops at 19mm and 3/4". I have the blue point and some GW for the larger sizes.

I've been extremely happy with my Bluepoint set. I have 10-19mm and got the set for under $100 used.

I have both those snapon and the gearwrench. I found the gearwrench seized up a lot and the lever fell off a couple of mine. I keep the larger go, but those snapon are far superior to anything else I have used. The extra length is nice to have as well.

The go warranty here in Canada stinks too. I had to mail them in on my dollar twice to get replacements....

The Snap-on is longer than the GearWrench and the Carlyle; couple that with a superior ratcheting mechanism and it's a done deal. Not to mention made in Tennessee too.

Its actually pretty close to be honest. There is also the issue of the SKs not having an offset or reversible option, which, at the rate they are going, they probably wont introduce until everyone reading this board is long dead.

There are a few Snap-on hardline tools that really have no equal. This is one of them. That doesn't mean that the price premium is worth it. That has to be an individual decision based on budget and needs/wants.

But as I have mentioned before since Snap-on doesn't discount sets compared to buying individually it is easy to buy one size every other paycheck or so until you have your set. The Carlyle SAE set I have would have cost me almost 50% more if I had bought them individually; the Gearwrench probably even more so.

I’m always looking for a better less expensive way to affordable tool brand to get the job done. But when it comes to the ratcheting wrenches I too have had them break just when I’m about to start or finish a job. I have the Bluepoint flex set and some individual Snapon ones which are constantly being used like 1/2 sae and 10 metric along with others. I like Snapons. I had no problem with warranty when I broke several. The snap rings would break or fall out while wrenching. Snapon Guy just gave me free replacements. It appears he didn’t want to mess around with rebuilding it. I have checked others out and still looking before I spring into the any purchase.

However, I've ran into problems with not having the 15 degree offset a few times and had to switch to a regular wrench. So I would like to have both.

After I buy a new tool box, I'll probably spring for the Snap On set.

snapon is great effort in top robust serviceable design but for daily real world auto repair use facom467B hard to beat and sensible priced .

I have one of the SK's; bought as a test. Works great straight on, but as others have said, not the greatest design. I have a set of Mac Flex which work great. Seeing the fancy SO's though.... bad influence you guys are......

I use my X-Frames to service CNC machines, which are packed way tighter with more equipment than any engine bay could ever be. Never experienced any of that.

Up here it’s actually cheaper to buy Williams from Vallen than from amazon, a lot cheaper with a commercial discount.
