I just found out an company down the road carries Wright tools. I don't know much about them other then the fact I get them confused with Williams all the time. How do they compare to SK, Willliams, Armstrong, and Proto? I would have never guessed this placed carried tools since its called the "house of hose." :p

I should have guess since the SK dealer in town is a Bearing dealer!:lol_hitti

Probably higher quality than any of the above mentioned...buy its really preference. They are about as good as it gets outside of the Snap on truck.

We have some Wright 3/4" drive stuff at work and a bunch of 1-1/2" and up combination wrenches. All of them look like they've been to hell and back. Never seen or heard of any of them failing.

Let us know what House of Hose has in stock. I live down south of you and the next time I hit the big city I will have to check them out. Wright's stuff looks really nice on the internet but having never seen any in person, I'm hesitant to order.

The big city!::lol:Definetly not what I think of this place...:lol_hitti.

I'm kidding...I know for many people it is the "big city." I lived in the Seatown area forever, so I don't think of this place as big.

I will give an update tomorrow since I plan to run by. Don't forget Brown Bearing for SK! I also think there is a place similar that sells Proto. Their all in the same area of town...very industrial! Who would have thought we would have places that sell such quality brands...not something I would have guess here.

The Wright dual pawl round heads are probably my favorite ratchet design. They have 82 clicks.

I have a 3490 and it's great.

There's an ebay seller who has them for $35 shipped.

Really GOOD quality tools.
Pretty close to Tool Truck quality, but without the Tool Truck price tag.

Great stuff! I bought a whole set of Wright extensions, sockets, and combination wrenches. Love 'em. The wrenches are the most comfortable ones I have. I love the thick beams.

Worked for a company for three years that sold Wright Tools, never had one tool come back for warranty. My tool box is largely all Wright tools with a mix of Snap On, Matco, Proto,Craftsman and other makes. Would be happy if they were all Wright. As you can see from the other posts, not one complaint.

I love my Wright full-polish combination wrench sets with merchandiser boards (D980 and D978). Great wrenches, nice way to store 'em.

their lower line is called cougar. All or partially imported, not sure, they didn't answer my emails. That being said, if I could fill my toolbox with only 1 brand....it would be Wright

Do they make any pear head/teardrop ratchets? I just feel that round head ratchets dont fit in a lot of places so I find myself not using them as much.

Wright wrenches are superb. Have SAE Wright Grip and Metric regular set, both full polish. Saving up for the Metric Wright Grip set. Have some of the small ignition wrench sets too. Also use their 1/2" drive impact sockets for the larger sizes that Craftsman doesn't offer. Have a few of their contour grip ratchets. The shop also has a lot of Wright 3/4" drive and 1" drive stuff. Have never seen a bad Wright tool, and I love their dedication to US manufacturing. I can't recommend them highly enough.

Thanks for the link. I am noticing Wright tends to be a little cheaper on Ebay then some of the others....Maybe because there less known or do they have a lower and high line?:dunno:

Make no mistake, the cheaper price tag doesn't infer a cheaper product, at least in this example. Wright products and the wrenches in particular are top quality, pretty much something you'll get off the truck, with a much reduced sticker price. I recommend them when people are looking for Snap-on quality with a lower price, because for basic users, SO is just TOO expensive.

I have some Wrights that were USAAC tools. Work every bit as good as anything I have. I think they are as good as any tool on the market. There is a reason a LOT of oil and mining operations use them. Never heard of one breaking. As a plus, you can get most, if not all of them in a black oxide coating. My personal preference.

These aren't Cougar wrenches, they just aren't the Full polished set....not a big deal though

I think this is the first thread where no one has outright said "you should look at this...instead of these!" I will definitely be saving to get a set of Wright wrenches!

Harry Epstein has them for 25$ + shipping. It's also a good excuse to buy some other odds and ends. I bought the 3/8th contour grip from Epstein and have been so pleased with it I bought a long handle 1/2 knurled grip from the local distributor. Will be picking it up tomorrow. I'll post pictures when I get it home.

I bought a wright ratchet like the one above - a shorty 3/8 with a flex head on it awhile back when I thought SK was gone.

The tool quality seems top notch, it seems really well made with a nice smooth chrome finish. But I don't care for the style - I cannot get a hold of that handle with any grease or oil on my hands - which I almost always have when using a ratchet.

I thought they didnt make the metrics with Wright Grip yet.....

Yup, they were released last Summer, or perhaps early Fall. I got a 11 piece set of them for Christmas. Unless you specifically need a 16 or 18mm wrench, the 11 piece set is probably fine for most.

So I ran to the "House of Hose" this morning. I got a 6" wobble 3/8 extension for $20. Thats way more then I could have gotten at Harry Epsteins ($18 with shipping!) As far as their tools, you have to know what you want...its all behind the counter, so you don't get to touch it or really shop. Plus, they guy was a kind of dickish....thats alright...my two-yr old daughter totally messed up a bin of compressor connections! Be a **** and I release the two year old on your place! They did have Subaru generator there...never knew they made those! Plus, a lot of chemicals like super lube etc.

As far as the extension, its super nice. The chrome is perfect! They are WAY better then any C-man....and a tad bit nicer then SK. I will definitly order stuff online if I have need. Very nice stuff!:D

I own one of those Wright 3400 Tootsie-Roll handle ratchets.
Some people either love-'em-or hate 'em?
I think they work well and are comfortable, but will NOT win any beauty contests.
