So what's the difference between the WrightGrip wrenches and the 2.0 version? Excellent tools for sure, but their website is lacking.

I believe that both have the grooves on the open end. The difference is how much area of contact exists in off corner engagement. The 2.0 has more contact area than the original.

I think you're right, I believe I was thinking of the Williams Supertorque vs Supercombo wrenches. I bought both a set of Supercombos and Wrightgrip 2.0 wrenches last summer. LOL

Best I can tell there’s no difference. I have both mixed in. Here’s a 3/4” Wrightgrip 2.0 next to a 13/16” Wrightgrip “1.0” both have off corner engagement on the box end and anti slip flutes on the open. Length and beam thickness on the same sizes is unchanged. Offset angles are all over the place since they’re Wright wrenches lol. Original Wrightgrips don’t scare me off. They’re all the same. Now pre-Wrightgrip wrenches are different. I’ve ended up with a couple in big sizes and they’re beastly!

How do the offsets compare with spanners in the same series, i.e. 2.0 vs 2.0?

The serrated edges are more pronounced and deeper on the 2.0 wrenches.

It’s a very faint maybe......I think it’s more my crappy lighting and picture taking skills that makes it look like that. They’re all good wrenches. My 2.0’s do not outperform my original Wrightgrips in any way. I have 3 complete sets. My 2.0’s are mixed into my newest SAE set.

Pretty sure it's the opposite. I thought they reduced the profile to prevent the wrenches from aggressively digging into fasteners.

Edit- 2.0 in front. Less pronounced teeth.

That is a better picture. Most definitely less aggressive pattern in the 2.0

Great thread - I was curious about the difference as well. The 15 piece set on Amazon is on my short list. Under 200 bucks. Although, I'm very easily tempted with the Snap-on 10-19mm set. Not hard to find deals that are close in price if you shop aftermarket (CL, ebay, etc.)

Every review / test I've seen puts the Wrightgrip2.0 up there with SO in terms of grip.

I have a set of Craftsman, from the late 90's early 2000's that would do well as a secondary set...would love these wright's or the SO's as my primary. The longer pattern on the SO seem a bit "handier" maybe?

In looking at my 3/4" 1.0 and 19mm 2.0, the teeth on the open are a little wider and deeper cut on the 19 compared to the 3/4".

I'll have to keep my eye out for that - thanks for the heads-up.

One thing I've noticed is a Snap-On standard length is about as long as a "long" pattern in other brands, like SK. For example, a SnapOn 10mm combination wrench is 6.7 inches long. An SK is easily about 5 or so inches (couldn't find exact spec). An SK X-Frame is about the same as a SO standard length.

Anyway, I'm not looking for really long wrenches, I just like the length pattern SO uses for the "normal" wrenches (10-19 mm).

I'll be very curious to see if Wright comes out with some.

I would think they would certainly sell a decent amount of long pattern wrenches...

I went on their website, and followed the link to Instagram. All I saw was a longish wrench falling into bin. IDK if that means there's actual long patterns.

I'd likely buy a metric set for alignments though.

I'm missing something....I see the picture and comments, but I don't see WrightTools commenting anything about long-pattern wrenches. Some follower made a comment that the marketing team at Wright should jump on the forum because he's been asking for long-pattern wrenches.

Nothing else was said or replied from WrightTools about that comment. Unless I'm missing it?

Edit: ohhhhh......yeah, I see the reply now. Gots to hit the side-arrow. Yeah...lookout for 2020. That sure does sound like they will release long-pattern.
