Save it to buy your wife's birthday gift, although its unlikely you'll find any made in USA women's clothing either.
This is the best solution and will make him look like a hero.
It has been years since I stepped foot in a Sears store.
Best place to buy tools is at garage sales, swap meets and pawn shops. I haven't bought a new tool in years, and I have more than the normal guy.
New stuff is primarily imported and fails to meet the quality level of older USA made stuff.
I saw a new 4.5" Milwaukee side grinder at the pawn shop marked at $40. I passed because it was made in Mexico. I went to the next shelf. There's a used paddle switch 4.5" DeWalt made in USA marked at $30. I offered $15 and went out the door with it for $20. Better to buy used than the made in Mexico new one.
How about a used Whitney hand held punch set in the metal box for $30. Same pawn shop. Price list for repair parts in the set lists items for $.15 !! How old do ya' think this set is.
I go in a pawn shop at Daytona Beach and see a NEW cam bearing installer in the plastic box. It's a $200 tool. They were asking $50. I go out the door with it for $30. I already had one, but at that price I CAN'T pass on it.
What I'm driving at here is #1) the worst time to buy a tool is when you absolutely have to have it and #2) there's better places to buy quality tools than the major retail stores.
After all, ya' buy new, use it once and now it's used. Just like buying a new car and driving it around the block. Used, but not used up.
