so this last weekend was spent out on the road traveling with the wife and no kids.

She wanted a weekend away from the kids so Thursday night we left the kids at the Grandparents house and out we set.

Mostly in Minnesota in the Rochester and Mankato areas.
830 miles and 3 hotel rooms later.

dozen's of Garage sales and some estate sales mixed in as well.

Pic of my treasure's.

First is of the Military Ammo box that I got

it's gonna hold my Heavy duty ratchet straps for the Car Trailer in a Nice and organized fashion. I have a 2nd of these that Holds 2 log chains and chain binders for the car trailer and it work super nice to grab and put in the truck when taking the car trailer.

2nd pic is most of my finds for over the weekend.

quick list is working from Left to Right
3 yard stick " I have a collection of Yard sticks"
Military Ammo Box "for the ratchet straps for the car trailer"
Craftsman Router with a few bits, 120Volt
Light Duty Block and Tackle Set, and then medium Duty Block and Tackle set.
Tape Measure
Pan Lid "from a Free Box"
Craftsman Air Ratchet, with 1/2 drive and 3/8 changeable heads,
Hammer/Pruning Shear's.
Boat Winch,
Craftsman 19.2 Volt Hammer Drill, "craigslist score"
Craftsman Jig Saw 120 Volt,
Jig Saw Blades,
Speed Square
Some Funky Rope lights.

some other odd's and ends that didn't make the Pic.

3 free pairs of work gloves.

that's all for now.

thanks for viewing.

I thought the kids play set turned out pretty cool...I really like the looks of your outhouse/tool shed too, I would like to find one just like it for the same price

Its always good to get away with the wife once in a while too! We like to take little trips up into Michigan for the weekend, looks like you had some good luck finding those new treasures

Chicago Bears first preseason game tonight and no Jay Cutler

so its been awhile since I have updated,

work progresses on the rock wall project and use of the ATV logging arch sure does come in handy for many things that get moved around.

first pic of log being drug into place and 2nd pic put down some 2x4 and roll the log up on top of the lower one and now have a quick set wall to be filled in with some dirt.

so with the wooden part of the wall done, its time to start moving some rocks and the stone boat gets put to use.

the Vice President of the Management team came out to inspect the work before retiring for the night and approves of the work!

notice the rocks now piled up to hold up against the wood logs which will be backfilled with some dirt.

so I know I sometimes go far afield in my thread and this post will be more of that thread but it does relate to the garage in the fact that nails hold things together and in one of the Pics I was making some bent nails straight to be used again.

but a camping weekend with the family and getting some work done on a bucket of bent nails now made strait and my camping work shop!

Nice view of the kids play area they all seemed to love the big jumping pillow.

then of my working table making nails straight to be used again!

so after the camping I was looking for some light duty work and got this mower from my dad to use and I thought id use it for just packing down some of this loose dirt and yep stuck right there!

ATV and a chain to the rescue!

the kids body language kind of says it all.

though having a mower with Hydro foot controls sure is nice.

other pic is of some of the dirt backfilling in for the rock wall turning area for the ATV work shop.

is super nice now for getting turned and lined up to going in and out of the ATV workshop.

so while I was loading up some rocks for my rock wall project the young 2 decide that riding in the wagon and downhill is great fun!

this will end well correct?

at least there mother wasn't home to witness this!

and I give them credit for having on there bike helmet's I suppose!

don't worry all the tree and propane tank at the bottom of the hill did survive this mad dash of tom foolery!

Saving bent nails....ugh. My dad made us spend hours straightening old nails. Looks like you've been busy.

yea its not on the list of my fun jobs that is for sure,

but I looked at it this way.
It was something I could take to the camp site and while sitting there watching the kids on the jumping pillow I could be productive and make nails usable again and this way the cost savings went into some nice beverages that I enjoyed while also making the nails straight.

at home I'd never take the time to straighten them I have way to many other things to due.

so been back working at things and heck I'm even sorta ready for the white stuff. well not really but I have the Blade on the ATV for doing some dirt work.

It has a Electric Actuator for the up/down and I can put down pressure on the blade and with the blade down and back dragging the dirt it leaves a pretty decent level area or at least good enough for me and its not as clumsy as a tractor and loader and its way better than a shovel and a hand rake.

2nd pic is of the bowling lane the kids made down in the pine tree area.

roundish rock is the ball some pine branches as the alley gutters and then some scrap wood that they put together to act as the bowling pins!

we also have a archery range and golf course made with pine branches and rocks and wood scraps! I don't have pics of those but will try and remember to get some.

So I destroyed the wimpy little bracing that had been installed to protect the stabilizing jacks on the rear of the camper.

came up with a wood Mockup of what I wanted and took to the local welding shop and had made and installed and for $100 got what I wanted and it held up on its first trial run.

only thing that really worries me is if I'm turning sharp and this drags it will have side way's pressure applied to it and might bend or break off.

any way post up what you think of my design and.

Wood mock up and completed install, still needs a coat of paint.

so I finally had a weekend at home to work on some stuff and got back to work at stump removal.

this is stump I have been slowly working on removing, via Fire and digging.
I'm down to around 2 or 3 more fires and I think I'll have this thing burned out. Its right on a corner of the drive way and when plowing snow and pushing the snow bank back it's a hazard to catch with the snow plow.

also the ATV is in Football form with Green and Gold seats flanking the Wisconsin seat.

so Go Badgers and Go Packers!

so the Rock boat has been busy hauling rocks.

Yea old Garage has witnessed many trips of rocks sailing by in front on there way to the rock wall project.

also 2nd pic is using the winch on the ATV to get rock boat just a little closer to it's port of call on this trip so that the cargo doesn't have far to go from the boat when it departs!

3rd pick is the rock boat arriving at its destination port!

I know I know must be the extra caffeine I had this morning making me post up lines like above!

took me a little while to dig out this monster and heck I thought this was gonna be a volley ball size rock when I started, goes to show me you never know what you gonna get when you put a shovel in the dirt!

this thing didn't come out easy and when I finally go the pry bar down under it and got it lifted a few inch's there was a whole wooshing sound. I did a quick look around wait for some big dangerous trap or something to be sprung upon me.

I guess sometimes its the small victories you achieve after the struggle to get there that are the most satisfying!

as always' thanks for following me along on this journey and I'll be getting back to garage work once the weather gets colder and I don't wanna work in the great outdoors.

You've got to love kids imagination. Why do we have to grow up and loose that?

If it's anchored good, you should be fine. I got fancy on the back of my trailer and it's drug on the ground a few times (with a heavy load) and been ok. Ever thought about getting one of those 110v pocket MIGs? I picked my Real Gear machine for about $375. And it's not one of those flux cores either. I used it to build my trailer, so it should be good enough for pretty much anything you'll ever need.

been a few weeks since I have updated,

kids fall soccer season put a slow down on my free time to work on things.

but that's done now and working of the tarp shed for the camper to live in for over the winter.

set down a row of cement blocks, then add some landscape timbers and bolt the frame work down the landscape timbers which are wire cable tied down to 14 ground anchors hoping that's enough that the shed doesn't get blown away.

pics of the lower setup and then of the frame work up and ready for the cover.

putting the cover on the frame work the kids thought they had a big kite of something!

and my little vice on the trailer holding some strapping that I cut to length to hold the landscape timber together.

pretty happy that this project is done before there's snow on the ground.

Sub: i hope you don't get huge wind gusts cause i'm not sure that will stay on the ground. I hope it does or if you want this to be permanent you might want to buy a few 80 pound bags of concrete and a few long J bolts to ground things a bit more sort of like a foundation.

i like that you seem to always get your kids to help you. WELL DONE DAD!!

Drive, there's 14 ground anchor rods in amongst the cement blocks with cable loop over the timber which the shed is screwed down to.

Hoping that keeps it from blowing away.

Thanks for stopping by!

So I was able to get some work done towards getting ready for winter.

This winter I will be using one of My backup ATV's to plow the Sister-in-laws drive way and side walk.

so I am doing some winter Pre Prep work on the ATV that will spending the winter in town on Driveway/Sidewalk duty!

I added some Heated Hand/Thumb Grip's 5 different heating levels.
Put on a pair of Handle Bar Mitts as well.

Radio and High Mount Plow Lights as well.

for the rear, I making a salt holding Box. "In Progress"
This is a two fold win/win as it will add rear weight to the ATV which help's in plowing snow and I'll have salt right on hand to throw out around the Icy area's. on her driveway and side walk.

I could just put some bags on the rear rack of salt for weight but then that is hard to just grab some when needed and not use up the whole bag. so Ill have a ready box to draw from when needed.

Plus this box is being made up of scrap 1.5"x1.5 strips that have been taking up space in Yea Old garage and I'm tired of them being in my way leaning against the wall so I get some cleaned out wall space back and these are all used up and I won't have to move them this winter when I get around to the inside siding project. The box is about 1/2 done and will have lid put on when done.
Also made a rear lock out to take the extra weight off of the rear shock on the ATV. that is the 8x8 that is vertical which had a hollow end that goes right over the ball hitch on the ATV and then have notch cut in the top that the ATV rack sits in and thinking the weight of the salt will hold that in place. This way the rear shock doesn't have to have extra weight stressing it all winter long.

Sister in law parks her SUV in front of her garage as the garage is super small and the SUV wont fit inside which is fine cause the ATV will get to winter in the garage and stay high and dry and be able to plugged into a Battery Tender to make sure it will start when I need it to.

I have had a few soda's over the holiday weekend,

you can sneak some ice cream by me and I won't blow the whistle very loud on you for it:lol_hitti

though I'm back on the no soda bandwagon again!

I'm a off again on again soda addict. I know but I only fall off for a few day's and then get back on.

compared to my younger day's when I was a daily soda drinker and some day's 2 or more can's or bottle's.

The race is on for beating the snow. I think you're way ahead of me. I'm losing mine. :(

no snow here yet.

I'm about 10 good hours of work away from being prepped and ready.

but at a push I can due a snow removal with 1 hour of prep and the prep is all inside the work shop where it can be warm and dry to finish things off.
Huge advantage if you can finish your prep inside warm and dry vs putting things together outside after there is already 6" of snow covering everything.

also there's light in to work shop as well vs hooking up plow outside in the dark and blowing snow is not ideal either.

from a page back or so was my outdoor work table and it been in use on the ATV Salt Box build,

the box sides had been salvage from a rec room remodel from sister in laws house and they have some caulking on them that I have been sawing off to make the board's look a little nicer.

so just quick clamp the board to the work table and run the saw down the length to remove the unwanted caulking and then cut to length and install on the salt box.

so had super nice day on Sunday and worked on outside project's,

I have the Camper shed up and the camper is out at the RV dealer for a Roof Repair that the wife wanted to have done.

so with the camper not in the shed I gonna stack some lumber up in there so that it is under cover and not outside.

I got these 4x4 that had been sitting on the ground all summer in a loose pile and they was some what wet so I spaced them out to dry for a few day's before they get stack in a tight pile.

I don't know what the max is for the little plastic saw horse to hold but I'm thinking I might be pretty close to the max!

any way the board's will get stacked proper in a couple of day's this is so that the are nice and dry and wont mold in the pile.

Sub: great progress at YEA OLD GARAGE!!

nice that you stacked the 4x4's under cover with stickers before storing them for good cause wet wood also brings the bugs along with the mold.

is it snowing yet?

quit going through denial on the SODA ADDICTION and keep working on the future for you and your kids!! the past is the past and today is a NEW DAY and you've got a bright future ahead!!

cheers (ice tea for this old guy and you pick your favorite)

Sub: yep it's nice to have a supply of lumber in case you need or think of a project and you find a use for it.

will the camper still fit inside your new carport with the wood inside? another place i use for storing long items or wood is under my wife's car on our garage floor, but during the winter it can get we there. if you don't take your 68 charger out during the winter you might store some of your wood under it in Yea Old Garage?

cheers

Drives, the lumber s getting stacked up on the edge of the camper shed so that the camper will still fit.

No lumber under the car.
If I had a cement floor and it would slide nice then maybe.

Though the yard barn has a floating 2x4 floor that is 3 levels deep of 2x4 that a atv and kids dune buggy drive up and over to park there!

got some boards stacked up in the camper shed.

have more to due but it got dark on me before I was able to get them done.

have no plans for them at the moment but got them for free and they are way to nice to just let sit outside to rot away.
