Re: Yea Old Garage

I just read through your thread.

The best thing about your garage is no ***'s character, but your kids will remember and tell everyone how their Dad built that garage. . . and that my friend is "priceless."

I like the transformation you have achieved.... a lot of work, but it is looking great!

Thanks for taking the time to read through my thread

NUTTSGT, thanks my place has lots of character I think in the whole garage there's only 2 stud placements that are the same. Made cutting out the wall insulation a lot of fun, but the kids had a blast playing drawing on all the scraps I made and building things.

Vonhef thanks for commenting:rocker:

Will due my garage journal friend:rocker:

I'll get some taken and post them up.

Though in a 4-6 weeks when the leaves start turning is when the color show is impressive I'll get that also

Thanks Sublime. I too will be looking forward to the pictures. And I'll post some from my area as well. Maybe we should start another thread so this one doesn't get hijacked.

Re: Yea Old Garage

so starting to think ahead to my fall insulation project that I want to work on.

thinking of using this stuff in the ceiling

http://www.menards.com/main/buildin...726907-c-19565.htm?tid=3202778596045917340uff

and then under that have this stuff,

https://www.menards.com/main/buildi...expanded-polystyrene-insulation/p-2740518.htm

I have some 1" stuff on hand appx enough to due 1/3 of the garage I'm gonna run 1x4 boards every 24" or so to help hold up the stuff up. this would give me white ceiling stripped with 1x4 boards kinda off a rustic pioneer type look.

thought's good or bad?

this is the best pic I have of what my ceiling looks like pretty much.

the gaps are all closed up now. but you can get the idea.

Re: Yea Old Garage

Sub: i put a few lights in that area before i insulated so when the garage doors are shut you have light to work on underneath. make a plan to run all the wires you need or might need before the insulation goes up. it's a pain to have to do it later and it's great to have more light if needed.

i forgot to click on the types of insulation you want to use, but i used the kind that is the width of the gap so you can staple onto the studs. easy peasy.

also wear coveralls and gloves or long sleeves. i've done it without and in short sleeves, but it will itch later.

cheers

Made a stand to hold a cement sink for the wife gonna put it out by the garden,
So she can have a sink for use out there,

Will need my dads help with tractor and loader to get out by garden but I got stand made and sink placed on top of stand.

Just trying to make wife happy so I can spend some money on the garage yet this fall!

Re: Yea Old Garage

Sub: looks like the stand should do fine. nice pulley work to get that heavy sink up on it too. if you can put the legs on cement blocks when you have it in place for your wife the wood will not rot as quick. are you planning on plumbing it or just having a hose for her to use?

loving all the views from your property too

Re: Yea Old Garage

Drives

I have cement blocks already in place and leveld a test fitted the wood frame on the blocks.

Also have the leaky old kitchen sink faucet I hope to put on the sink and make a garden hose adapter and when in use will hook garden hose to sink and pipe the drain back to garden.

That's the plan.

Pic of the start off the stand built on the sink sitting upside down.

1.Build stand upside down on sink
2. Take stand off and the set up cement blocks to level stand by garden area
3. Flip sink over use atv winch and pulleys to lift sink up and put stand under
4. Wait 1 week for my dad to get back from trip,he's on borrow dad and tractor with loader lift sink and stand over to final spot
5. Add in some plumbing
6. Wife's happy so I get to spend money for garage insulation:thumbup:

Jeeps, that sink likely has it's own gravity field :). Keeping the wife happy is directly correlated and proportional to your garage happiness. Looks like you're in good shape.

Re: Yea Old Garage

Hey Sub..time for an update.

its coming I have a view from the garage tomorrow If I get home tonight and still have good light we have out scare crows and want to get a pic of them,

I also have another side project Im starting since I scored a Free CL landscape blocks and want to put a awing up over my workshop double doorway.

busy Kids have soccer practice and games just don't have much free time to get any work done around here.

soccer is over the end of the month so there's light at the end of the tunnel in that regard

3 kids in soccer and getting them to practice and games makes for a busy week, not to mention there's the regular work job as well

I so hear you on the running everywhere for different kids activities. And you forgot to mention the regular things that break around the house that require immediate attention.

Sorry sub. I truly forgot what it's like having little ones on a full time basis. Thanks for the couple of pics you did post. There'll be more time as it gets too cold to be outside as much.

Re: Yea Old Garage

Just for you DLC,
I found a can of great stuff and had a hornet nest by the gas intake on the main house as they was going in/out behind the pipe so filled that small gap up then used the rest for weather proofing the garage got all the can used up and just finished the last of these areas on top the wall that then slope on up to the attic!

So I worked on the garage for all of 5 min but still was progress!
So that counts towards something I guess?

Re: Yea Old Garage

Inspired by dlc light hearted ribbing got to work on another long time in the works project,

Gonna put a awing over my double doorway to the Atv workshop.

Pulled the awing out of the weeds gave it a power wash and brushing and after a little bit of fit and finish and a rattle can brown paint job.

It's kinda ready to be put up over the doorway
Pic is of the finished power washing

Started the landscaping for the bottom where the bracing will come from to hold the awing up the ran out of daylight so now just posting up pics of today's progress.

Also got kids soccer game in as well
And even went to church!

Good luck

It was a free cl pick up 15 months ago just never got to it before last winter so it sat next to the workshop in the weeds till yesterday,

Also just got some landscape paver blocks for free also a cl score to help with getting this project going.

And last winter when I spent 40 minutes chipping ice away from my double doorway bridge I told myself this year that awing is gonna be put up so I don't have to chip ice like that again.

So the hour is starting to grow late on good workdays let before snow gets here.

Time to get the outside stuff buttoned up!
Or in my case get started on what I should have been doing 2 months ago!

Looks like I lit a fire under your a... Well you're welcome.

And very happy you found some family time also. That's the most important thing.

I think I need someone to lite a fire under mine. I am running out of good outside weather to get some of those projects done that I hoped to.

Is the weather cooperating with you today Sub? It's pretty crappy here. Inside work is the only option for me, and I'm dragging my a@#.

And what is that sublime colored thing in front of your 4 wheeler? Or behind it I should have said.

Sub, where/how will you use the tiller? Just curious on what the garden routine is. I've been doing a bit of reading on horse manure/decomp schedules etc. for our own gardens here.

Denwood wife is in charge of the garden production!
I just due what I'm told out there!
But I wasn't fighting a walk behind tiller for the garden area which is 32 x96

We also got a decomposter poster thing this summer.

So far I till in the spring 2 years ago added in some cow manure whole garden and sand for carrot area.

I mark the rows out with my atv and center them up 6 rows for early season I have a cultivator that straddles the rows behind the atv till plants get to tall to fit under the atv.

Also put a fence around to try and keep wild life out!

Just put in place a garden sink for her today that I had built the frame for a few weeks ago.
My dad brought over his tractor and loader made moving into place super easy.

For the garden part the weeds did real well again this year!

Glad you're making progress sub. It'll be done before you know it.

Well I want it done before the snow flies,

I have 2 must due projects to get done before snow,

First is getting power to the shed before ground is frozen,

Hoping this weekend for that!

2nd is awing. Over the atv shop doors to prevent snow getting packed around the atv bridge that I made to protect the door transom from the atv tires with chains on

Re: Yea Old Garage

I'm with you..last rush now before the freeze. It sounds like a pretty massive garden...hard to beat your own garden produce given all the research circulating today on WHO processed meat advisories among other things.

Now your garden sink needs an elevated rain barrel and wash system :) It looks great.
