Got Lumber all stacked up and its even ******* to the side of the shed so that the piles don't fall over.

so Rope use and a lot of knots into this.

Start with a Clove Hitch around the pipe then a Butterfly Hitch for the bottom part of the Truckers Hitch. After the butterfly around the stack of Lumber and the Up to a High point. Put in the top half of the truckers Hitch and tighten the rope up and tie it off.

after that was done I took a small section of rope and pulled the truckers hitch part over tight to the pole to help keep the stacks pulled tight to the side of the shed.

took me a little bit of time, but now happy the lumber stacks's will stay stacked up and not fall over into the camper that is stored in the shed also.
the lumber is just stacked on top of a cement blocks on the ground and they could shift with freeze/thaw.

and since the lumber is now tied to the shed it will help hold the shed down to the ground I hope.

got the end of the tarp shed put on as well so the Camper is now in winter storage!

Sub: i'm crossing my fingers that your carport doesn't become a kite and fly away, but looks like you are doing more things to prevent that.

i'm probably going to buy a new or used 10x20 carport that Costco sold a few years ago for a couple benjamins, but curious who made yours or did you just buy the parts and bolt the frame together? or was yours a Craigslist find?

you'll have to teach me how to make a few of those knots or i'll check YouTube cause my knot tying is not that great and i end up using straps as much as possible.

Drives I Have fingers crossed as well that this doesn't become a Kite as well?

its behind a few trees to help break up the wind I hope?

Camper shed is a Shelter Logic brand

Used from CL frame is 7 years old the tarp has only 1 season of wear per the previous owner.

Got the Camper Shed, Garden Shed Outhouse, and Kids Tree house Floor and Frame work all on 1 weekend trip with the Car Trailer. Went 1.5 hours away for the Camper Shed with Car trailer and then did some CL free Shopping in Madison WI while going threw the area and got the Tree house floor and Garden Shed Out house for free.

Pics of putting the roof on the Garden Shed outhouse and Car Trailer with all that stuff loaded up when we got home with it.

Drives on the knot tying use

http://www.animatedknots.com/

its where I went to learn the truckers Hitch.

I'm a strap guy as well but for this the rope and knots worked as I have about 3 different things going on with the rope. 2 different anchor points and then a Mid point pulling system to put tension on the rope and anchor the frame work down to the weight of the lumber.

and I already have 4 straps running from Ground anchor points to the frame work of the shed.

I had 4 ground anchors on this and it worked for 3 years. I had the left both ends open as it was garage parking for the wifes truck and the first year the non zippered end ripped and blew out. so I just took that off and it worked fine for daily parking.

the wind storm that took it down I had the garage full of the Kids Ride on toys/bikes/etc and the zippered end down so 1 end was sitting open with 1 end closed and the open end picked up and twisted and landed on the wife's Ford Explorer.

Pic of just the frame work.

the anchors on the back came out. On the front side those anchors I had also put down to 10' sections of Rail Road track that I had to help hold down the open end. the end with the RR track stayed in place to other end not so much.

I have another frame work so some day its on my to due list is to put this shed back up.

It might go up next to the Camper Shed I have a nice clear area there now.

Sub: that's a shame what the wind did to your old carport type cover and your car. i'm still crossing my fingers that this one stays in place for years to come.

i'll check out the knot tying video on a cold snowy day and maybe learn how to tie some.

cheers and NO SODA today. OK?

Got the Rest of the ATV Salt Box done,

Top Hinged Lid is on and good to go. When Open it rest against the safety light pole as well.

It now has rear lights and the safety Flashing Yellow light on it also.

They Plug into the Battery Tender Plug so its easy on/off and hopefully I don't leave them on accidentally.

Had the Kids out in the shop and helping me as well!

Swapped out the summer mud tires for the winter set on the ATV.

they Made a tread board to climb up on to the stack of ATV tires!

who knew that sitting on the ATV tires stacked up was a thing?

working on making the tread board to get up to the ATV tire Stack.

then a moment of Zen thinking on top of the ATV tire stack?

while the kids working on there stuff I'm doing Cub Scout Tool Box build.

we are making Tool Box's tonight for Cub Scouts and I get to due the design and layout.

so looking at the wood pile stack and what I have that I'm willing to part with for this project.

I come up with the following design.

then the mass production begins enough cut and staged for 8 cub scouts to make tool boxes.

all cut and prepped just need 50 nails each to finish and willing cub scouts to hammer the rest together!

its not the most glamour design that is for sure but made use of extra lumber that I had taking up storage space that I didn't have a use for.

and if they don't add the handle layers then can be nice little flower boxes!

Drives on the Carport

Old 12x20 had 4 anchor's and frame was set on the ground

New 14x30 14 anchors plus 8" Landscape timers set upon a cement block base that the frame work is screwed into.

Old was open to the direct wind from the west.

New is set behind 10 small trees that will break up the wind force just a little I hope.

Drives the Snow removal is just for the sister in law's house,

She does a lot of kid watching for me and the wife to have Date nights and stuff.

This year her usual snow removal guy stopped doing snow removal and she is not able to due a lot of snow removal due to health and bad knee, "she would be a great candidate for the get healthy thread of yours!".

so I stepped up and said I'd provide snow removal for her if I had access to her garage to store the ATV I would use for snow removal.

will see how this goes. Wife already got 1 txt message that her sister had to shovel her side walk because she didn't want to get a ticket from the city. We had maybe 1" of snow on the 24, I wasn't worried about it but she was?

so this is trying to be a nice guy and help out a family member!

Have maybe 2" here now I haven't even put the Blade on the ATV at my house yet.

need more than that for me to get worried about the snow.

I will have a week shift at the fire station this year that I'm on the snow removal duty.

I have in the past done some driveway's for snow removal. I used to due both of my Grandparent's drives from 2000-2010 I did 3 driveway's and side walks on a 2" snow it was 2 hours of snow removal, course there might have been 2 different 20 min breaks of talking with Grandma when I was shoveling off the front steps and stop in the house to check on them and warm up a bit!

since I have moved out to country in 2011 I have only done my own driveway,

but this year have the 2nd quad in town for the sister in laws house and I may pick up a job here or there.

Sub: i'm guessing your sister in law was more worried about a TICKET than having you run out to clean off the little bit of snow. i'm sure she will love having you come take care of her snow issues. does your small town actually give tickets for not shoveling snow? how much and is there a certain amount?

nice gesture that is for certain and i'm sure you'll have to TRAIN HER so you are not at her BECKON CALL.

HAPPY NEW YEAR and here's to your good health and hope your young family just keeps getting bigger and happier.

We do it a little different at the Haven FD. The past Chief does the snow removal as he has a Ford 4000 with loader and cab. He charges $800 for the entire season. He is maybe 500ft down the road from the Fire house.

Happy New year!

Carl thanks for stopping by,

does he also mow the lawn in the summer as well?

for my station we have 2 guys on clean up each week, Bay guy and Meeting Guy, both have a chore/check list, take's maybe 30 minutes top's. At the end of each month there is a general clean up where all the guys who had a week that month get together and due a clean up. Meeting guys set up table and chairs for meeting. Bay guys pull all the truck's outside and run the floor sweeper/scrubber all around the Bay,

for Snow removal the City Plows due the apron and parking area's, Bay Guy has to shovel out in front of the Doors. Meeting guy has the sidewalks.

Pic of my Oldest running the floor scrubber. He had a great time running that all around the floor!

its around every 3rd month your on either bay or meeting and it flips back and forth.

so from a page or 2 back I had the Cub Scout Mass tool box Project I and I had 1 left over tool box kit "cub scout has left the program" so I took his tool box kit and modified it to now serve as the Winch holder for the car trailer.

the Winch is a pain to load and move around when I need to take it along with the car trailer. It's super handy when I have to use it. Just a pain to get in the back of the truck.

so now it has its own little storage box complete with under chain storage.

a lot nicer to move with 2 easy to grab handles and away you go.

We have another member cut the grass. We pay $40.00 for each cutting. We also have a cleaning lady to keep the hall, kitchen, office and bathrooms clean.
When we wash the trucks we clean the truck bays.

It's interesting how different departments do house keeping.

Stay warm and dry!

Ah yes the Thrush Mufflers, Good back story to them.
Iola Car show circa 2003 https://iolaoldcarshow.com/

Had the Charger there and in the car show and a cooler in the trunk was pretty nice walk around look at stuff get thirsty go back to cooler and restock.
Walk back to campground for the night. Rinse and repeat for 2 days or so.
I had $100 in my pocket and found those mufflers and in my state I thought I was getting a deal so I got the mufflers and the other guy got the $$$.

any way in my old garage the windows had been sided over and the I made up the nice Thrush display to fit in the old windows opening.

when we moved out to where we are now the Muffler display got moved and hung on the wall there. Has become a nice little shelf of stuff as well to stack up.

the Green thing is nice and safe inside the garage was just being moved over to the other side so that I could finish up the ceiling insulation project.

I due like the wishing wells add a little bit of décor to the yard and cover up a essential element of country living, Well Head and Pressure Tank and also the Septic Vents. Plus it give those items a Hey heads up don't drive here something important is here!

thanks for stopping by!:rocker:

Sunday had a warm day with temps in the low 30's so worked outside most of the day.

Got the Wood Stove in the garage hooked up and the Miter saw moved up there so I can work up there in cold weather.

made a little frame to stack some wood up on under my pine tree's, Just some 2x4 up on top of brick's.

Also had a little fire in the brick fire pit the kids built and for fun rolled up a barrel that I had which was 1/2 full of Ice, Took about 4 hours to get it melted down into water and start to steam off.
Kids had fun go for a sled ride behind ATV and then check on the barrel if it was still ice, stock the fire under barrel.

Note there is a old stump in the brick fire pit which is why the fire pit is there to help burn the stump out.

picture is a little dark but this is the result of the fire pit.

I wonder with having the barrel over the top and the bricks did this force the fire to stay hotter and burn out the stump better?

No stump in site! that will be nice!

Xtremek, you would have been proud of my efforts today!

Had to help out a Fellow Boy Scout parent.

The kid was driving around in a Polaris ranger and had the rear tire fall off.
On the hub there was only 1 lug left the others snapped off.

So took my stone boat and put that under the broken hub and used his ford 8n to pull the broken ranger back to his heated shop to get it fixed.
Worked out pretty well only had to reset the stone boat 1 time on a turn.
Pulled the ranger backwards to the shop and tied a tag chain from stone boat to pull chain.

It was kinda chilly so I didn't get any pics but I'm sure many have done similar things to get stranded equipment back to a shop!

Drives let me know how the stump burning goes!
