Yep I try to make some jobs more fun as I get them done.

The Oldest was grumpy but the young 2 had a blast!

was home both Friday and Saturday night this last weekend and first time in 6 weeks been home for a full weekend.

going backwards on the weekends has been

Super cool to look at all the Tanks and Musuem as well.
The Family ran/owned the Chicago Tribune Newspaper as well!

so there Im back 6 weeks and that was the last time I was home for a full weekend.

so yep Im' way behind on my summer work get done list as usual but I try and get done what I can when I can!

this weekend taking 4 boy Scouts and we are spending Saturday Night on WWII Submarine USS COBIA!

so I have been busy this summer I guess.

so since I was home got a few things done around the house.

the Camper Shed got a fancy door lift system installed so when pulling the camper out of the shed I don't have to worry about snagging the zipper Doors on the camper and ripping them.

some rope and some useful knot knowledge and there you go.

Knots used are the classic Bow Line and then a Taut line hitch and a handful of Butterfly knots as well.

Then the Old 78 Ford got some love as well.

the exhaust or muffler was in dire need of replacement.

so some ramps set up in the yard and a tarp down on the ground for finding dropped parts made the muffler install go pretty smoothly.

truck is a little bit quieter now going down the road but still has a lot of wind noise from the windows and doors but I might just be able to listen to the radio if I want now!

Sub: i'm guessing the salt, water and age had a lot to do with the rusted out muffler and fender well and happy to see you had a few minutes to address it.

you might check in on Denwood's thread to see what sort of stuff he heats up and applies on the underside of his vehicles that seem to remain like new and i'm sure he's got salt and snow and rust issues in his area just like you do.

been busy with camping and boy scout camping and cub scout camping.

plus 1 weekend of family camping in the camper.

now also have 2 kids in soccer so a lot of getting them to practice and then watching the games as well.

drives have a fun new project It may take me awhile to get assembled and working and I have many other things to get done but I got a deal made for it and pulled the trigger.

Here is a teaser Pic and prop's to anybody who can name what it is.

I have a 2nd pic which will really give it away so for now I'll just post this one.

also I took the wife and kids' along on this excursion and they was all more enthused about this stop then when we stopped and I got the trailer loaded up.

the truck was empty and they all in the store before I even got done making sure my binder chains and straps on the trailer was still tight.

i'm guessing your Packers have a good team this year or do tell? I think the Seahawks are cleaning house and all the prima donna types that want big play and then get hurt or dont' play worth a damn have left so we'll see. Hell we brought on a kid that only has one arm that I bet will outplay some of those high priced players.

It looked familiar to me but I couldn't place it.
I'm on the opposite side of the state and there's quite a few of these up here. An old farmer friend had one and milled quite a few bd ft for me.
I brought another buddy over to his place once and after watching the mill in operation he turned to me and said "OSHA would run out of tickets if they made a visit here".
My farmer friend just laughed and held up all ten fingers.
Good find, they are handy.

so been a while since I updated but with fall soccer season my weekends and even weeknights have been very limited in time to work on things.

but I got a Garage in a box set up to put the sawmill in till I have a site prepped and ready to get the mill set up.

so working on getting the temp shelter set up.

first pic is the frame work up and bolted together.

for this I put down a row of used cement blocks and then the anchors between the gaps. Putting down the pilot hole for the anchor to make sure its rock free to depth that I need.

then putting the anchor down into the ground.

then to finish up it get a old landscape timber set up on the cement blocks' help give me some height on the shed. and the timbers are cable tied down to the anchor rods.

so with the frame work set and anchored down it was time to move the sawmill into the shed.

borrowed the tractor from my dad which really helped out on getting stuff moved that is for sure.

first step move the carriage off of the bunks where I had it sitting in the yard.

then put the second bunk on the forks and load the last bunk onto my small trailer to move to the shed.

The help with loading the bunk on the trailer.

placing the bottom bunk in the shed where I want it to go.

bring the 2nd bunk over to the shed and due some old fence pole role and winch and pull 2nd bunk on top of first bunk.

next up was getting the carriage up on the bunk and then the saw head into the shed as well.

was carefully with the track wheels when going over the forks didn't want to bend them or anything.

then moving the sawhead into the shed as well

next up was when I got time was to put the cover on.

this was the first attempt.

was the old cover and got 1/2 way and ripped it bad down the middle so I had to order a brand new one. that cover was not in goo shape to begin with so want surprised that it ripped on me.

got new cover on and end its all bundled up and ready for winter.

Sub: the mill should be fun (if you run it safely and keep your little ones out of the way of that huge blade.

the new carport cover looks AWESOME.

in case you might need a bit of help or some pointers setting up your mill one of our handy members just built a shed and set up a mill on the back of his property and he just started sawing a log yesterday.

Close enough for winter for the most part.
Atv plows are in the yard next to workshop just need to put on.

The backup plow is on 1atv cause I used that for gravel driveway work. And that can due snow if needed. It's just smaller and slower is all.

Still have to equip 2nd atv and take to sister in law house for the winter.
Still about 1 month behind from where I'd like to be but at start of November I was 2-3 behind.
Garage is 1/2 set for winter need to hook up stove with shorter inside pipe but stove is in garage and car is moved to the side it needs to be for winter.

Any time you want to stop by we can work on sawmill set up!

so its been awhile since I updated on this.

Not much happening in the garage,

But I did get the sawmill shed set up and then I added a bunch of ropes to the top part to provide additional bracing for the Garage in a box shed.

got the rope's all ran than put a board up there and twisted the rope together until it nice and tight.

made the top part a lot stiffer and dosnt flex around as much.

then got the car moved over to the other side of the garage for the winter,

Redid the Stove pipe and made it shorter so now the car can fit in front the wood stove for the winter as well.

brought in a load of wood so I can have some heat and keep warm when working out in the garage.

also got the Old Wash tube mounted up to the side of the garage. This does double duty as a extra seat in my ATV trailer for the kids to ride around on.
but now has a storage location when its not in the trailer acting like a bench seat.

just enough room in front the car to add wood to the stove when needed to keep warm for the winter.

and the trailer load of wood that I brought in and stacked in front of the car for keeping warm.

some snow plowing pics,

02 Honda foreman,

put some Milk crates on the back and filled them full of rocks for extra weight.

made up bracket to lock out the rear suspension so the shock's don't have to carry the extra weight and put 15PSI in the front tires.

was doing great plowing the snow and able to go where ever I wanted and get back out till this spot and got stuck.
got the other ATV and the winch and got it pulled out with out to much trouble.

and then when you plowing and you fill up the wheels with snow you know your having a good time and the snow is deep!

you might want to post your cool log cutting set up on this thread too cause that was another very smart way to cut a log into rounds so you can then split the rounds up and have plenty of firewood.

keep warm and eat well (just not so much)

Drives the Rocks came from the Big Hill in my woodland that when trying to go up with the ATV and you go over them they cause wheel slippage and give me problems coming up the Hill so having them off of that hill is a good thing to make the hill climb better. When spring Hits the Rocks can be offloaded on my Rock Retaining wall down by the ATV Shop or by the Rock wall around the garage or I redid my Mail Box Post setup and I'll need some Rocks there to be decorative as well Plenty of Places for the rocks to go when there not being used as weight box's. When next fall get's here again I'll make a stop on the big Hill and pick rocks till I have the crates full again!
at this rate I'll have that big Hill rock free in 30-40 years!
