Drives, I think for this year syrup will just be used by us,
There's way to much work to be selling that stuff!

Tonight we got 7.5 gallons of sap and then the kids move stuff in the fridge to make room and Brooke a big glass jar of sap and daughter has a Nast cut on her pinky finger.

I'm at hospital waiting room now.

Wife is with daughter and there only allowing 1 parent with kid in treatment room.

Hoping they just glue it back together and she doesn't have to get stitches.

Should be glad its daughters first ER room visit,
Boys have booth been there.

SUB: how's your little girl's finger doing today? I hope that doesn't keep her from making more syrup or doing things around your awesome property. hope she's mending and feeling better tonight.

boys usually end up at an Emergency room at least one time and more during their lives.

Drives, corona effect here as well no school all week, town has declared a emergency, all restrauraunts are either closed or take out orders only.

School is online lesson plans teachers doing the best they can with that.

Keep 6' from people no groups bigger than 10.

There talk by Monday will be at shelter in place state wide. Only essential road traffic and services.
We are stocked up.

So far no corona in my county but next county over Dane county, madison, wi has some confirmed there.

Day at a time. Bad weather last 2 days only 1 gallon of sap yesterday, almost 2 today.

..........So far no corona in my county but next county over Dane county, madison, wi has some confirmed there...........

4 people in my building at work have tested positive for c-19. That 25 count box of masks I bought for cleaning rust is coming in handy. I've been going out to get parts for installing the hot water heater and groceries, so I'm wearing gloves and a mask when I get to where people are. Moral of the story, be smart and stay safe.

Sub: good to hear your county doesn't have any confirmed cases yet so hoping that remains the same until they get a handle on the cure, testing and how to manage this ****.

looks like maybe you and the kids might have to do some RV'ing out in your woods to find better sap trees? that might be some fun.

3 case of corona in my county now, age range 24-26,

Been busy working on things at home is all.

Trying to get my rusted receiver hitch out of my truck. Been a lot of fun so far,
Doing a little brush removal and burning out a old stump!
Cleaning off my work bench as well! There's a flat surface under there some place!

the final syrup pictures and we are done with syrup for the year the overnight temps need to be in the 20 and then 30-40 during the day. Overnight temps are only in the mid 30 and the sap will turn bitter tasting I have been told.

but some PICS of the last of the sap stuff.

out on the trail picking up sap was a cooler day only got 1-2 gallons the best we did was 7 gallons from 9 taps.

Sub: nice to have time to work around the garage isn't it? sorry to hear that Corona has been found close to you. even though the first cases of it in the USA were close to the gym we work out at we still don't know anybody that has it and hoping it stays that way.

isn't it amazing how our workbenches (or any flat surface) becomes a catch all and usually because we just don't take a few minutes to put stuff away after we finish up a project. OR we have stuff that just doesn't have a place that ends up in our way all the time. if you find the cure for FSD please share with me cause while I know some solutions i still have it pretty bad.

take care

Sublime, I thought it was called a saporator. Yeah, I googled it.

Bob it may be,

I just know its some used cement blocks with the cavities filled 3/4 with ash's and topped of with some gravel fines scooped right next to stove.

fill the blocks to help act as a heat sink and to keep blocks from cracking, then a bar across to hold chimney in place and some brick to help fill in the gaps round chimney pipe and rectangular block's just don't make for fine precision work.

Plus it's just setup in the gravel drive with no work to make level at all place and go construction at its best.

Sap Production is done for this year, Need over night temps in the 20 and daytime in the 40-50 for the sap to run, once temp at night stays in the 30's the sap turns bitter tasting from what I have been told so we are done with Making syrup for this year but plan to mark more trees this summer and due more and better next year. Night temps in the 30's

Drives that is the non running tractor that I got from the auction.

the front tires I got at the same auction and the rear tires was on the running tractor from that auction. I made a trip threw the garden with it and it did fine other than some operator error's. I forgot I had put the tiller in Transport mode on the tiller and wondered why my tiller would not lower down. Found that and tiller worked just fine got to the end of the garden and ran out of gas and engine died. Put gas in and it fired right up.

I put the smaller rear tires on the tractor with the tiller so that the tiller will cover the tire tracks. the Mower tractor got the wider tires and Looks Boss with those on it now!

Running tractor got a different set up tires. Tires are the same size but are not the same size, Different brand tires but both are 23x10.5-12 Carlise on the left and Deestone on the right. Pics of the tires.
side by side,

Sub: I love your creativity and your lift for your ATV's and tractors. not sure that angle support is beefy enough for much support, but the idea is solid and of course if it works even better.

great to hear you got the NON WORKING Tractor from the auction to run so you'll have 2 good ones to use on your place.

what are you planting in your garden if you don't mind me asking?

Sub: Love your sense of humor. if the kids love pumpkins you should also plant a zucchini plant or two for them cause we had one and i bet it gave us 20 big zucchinis.

BTW dandelions make great salad makings and the juice in the stems are great for warts.

cheers and hope it's warming up over there in your part of paradise.

The tractors look great. Kind of jealous. Not getting much done around here.

Xtremek, when I had the tractors out on the service station I had to take a pic and post for you as I know you like my atv/garden tractor station.

Used it tonight as well 2 times. My in town atv made it home from winter plowing duties, and I have a emergency foot shift lever that came off back in February, that went back on took 4 min and no kneeling down to put it in place.

Then I have a 214 John Deere with tiller for sale and rear tire was flat. The core was bad. Drove out on service station and jack up tire take off replace valve core and put tire back on. Go put tractor away. Again no bending over to put tire on/off.

That's all for today.

That's a nice looking fleet of tractors.

It's the only fleet pics I'll have as the 214 got sold yesterday,
John Deere 214 with tiller tiller lift assist spring and mower deck and 2set of rear tires for $800 I was pretty happy with the price, I hope it treats the new owner well.

Wish I could keep but I don't have the room and I like the 140s better.

Hey buddy, just started reading your thread.
It's cool that you live in Dodgeville and drive a charger, nice old ford, we will have to swap notes on them. I lived in Aurora Il for 43 years before escaping to Tn. I spent a bunch of time up in Antigo deer hunting. Cant remember actually being in Dodgeville but I can almost bet me and my harley went through there at least once, that's some beautiful country in S.W. Wisconsin, Most of all I miss the cheese curds, they dont know what they are here.[emoji106][emoji481][emoji481]

Garage got some attention last night,

not much but back up thread there is the Pic of the Maple Sap Evaporator setup and the stove pipe cam from the garage for that so last night I put the stove pipe back on the garage. so If I get a cold and rainy day when I'm at home I can fire up the stove in the garage for some heat if I want it.

Buddy of mine has had this 300 for 4-5 years I think. He got it from a buddy of his who got it from Texas at a ATV park where he know the owner I think is the story. The ATV was just left at the ATV Park and nobody ever claimed it. Any way that's the back story of the ATV far as I know.

its a nothin special that is for sure but the price is right. any way He wanted to borrow my trailer today to take his zero turn mower into get serviced for the summer mowing season and he asked if I wanted this 300, I said what is the price and he said its a great deal it'll be on the trailer when I return the trailer to your house.

Know Issues with the 300 is the Battery drains down if left hooked up to the ATV. the steering is loose looks like there a bushing missing from the top of the steering stem?

pic of the 300

so I needed to get it pulled down to my shop and the kids was all inside the house and its snowing and windy, from where it was in the yard I had a small hill to go down and if I just pulled it with a chain the atv would run away on me and either run into the shop or the kids play yard booth of which are not ideal. Its been on my list to make a ATV tow bar but never got one done.

so enter in a 32" square tubing and then I had a side chain from a tire chain just laying around put snap hook on 1 end of chain put chain threw square tubing wrap excess chain around front bumper of the 300 bungee cord handle bars ends to the rear rack to keep the wheels straight and away I go to my work shop!!!

not pretty but I was able to make the trip and didn't run into any buildings.

daughter did show up 1/2 way threw the journey so I let her pilot the 300 the rest of the trip to the shop.
