Hi gents
Im looking for diy ideas on 3/4 drive socket organisation. Im using ernst for 1/4, 3/8, And 1/2 inch but the 3/4 is a bit big for the ernst kits. Any ideas welcome.

I keep mine in their box in a drawer but you can get rails for them too.

http://www.ernstmfg.com/store/p/178-8458-2-Rail-Twist-Lock-Socket-Boss-18-Red-3/4.aspx

I have Ernst rails for all my sockets and I can't even begin to imagine those working worth a damn with the larger ones. But ya never know. I'd like to have something for my set, but as it is there are kept in a 3" deep drawer, so anything that adds height doesn't work for me. Maybe someone will pop in with a solution I haven't seen yet.

snap on makes the metal rail clips in 3/4 and they are pretty sturdy I have sockets up to 3 1/2 inch on them the rails i screwed to an aluminum panel and the clips have held great

Because I don't use them nearly enough to warrant drawer space they remain nicely organized with foam in a pelican 1600 case that weighs about a ton :lol_hitti

The metal box they came in or buy a metal box from proto to carry them in.

I have this but want them in my socket draw, as i only use them in the workshop. So they nood to be organised functonal and easily accessible.

I would probably think along the lines of a piece of plywood with counterbored carriage bolts (so the bottom is perfectly flat) pushed up through the bottom with a top side nut on each one (smaller than 3/4" in diameter) to hold them in place. You could even cut the ends of the carriage bolts at an angle and mark the angled end with the socket size using a sharpie etc. You would basically have a DIY Hansen tray.

This is the idea i have, itll either be wooden with coach/carrage bolts or 5mm metal sheet with welded pins

Another option would be wood boards with holes drilled into them that are the same size as the base of the sockets.

Something like this, but adapted for the 3/4 drive sockets (and no need for a deep section)

Might have to buy some tools to cut holes that big though

I use the Ernst socket boss kits for my 3/4" drive sockets. A couple rails on a tray with the twist lock socket clips. It works great in my opinion. I like that the rails lock onto the tray and you can either pick up the whole tray, remove one rail and take it with, or grab a single socket.

I thought they would be a bit, you know flimsy! Ive ordered a tray even if i use them for jus the short if not back on the bay they will go

If you have SAE and metric sockets and accessories all in one drawer you don't need much to keep them organized.

There was a pic a while back of a guy that made a rail with wood dowels and a wood base. Mine are just standing in a drawer in the toolbox.
