Really? I haven't seen something like this before. Honestly I'd personally be looking @ that KRL1022, nice box for sure. I don't have a sob story or anything, just a working class guy in my late 30s trying to pay bills & take care of my family. I recently got laid off from a pretty stable income at a county transit fleet maintenance contract. I landed a job as a service tech @ a local import dealer since I used to work there years ago, which is good. I called a friend & asked if he could transport my box on one of his trucks(runs a tow company) as a favor, since we did float a lot of business their way. Anyway, the guy he sent didn't strap down my box correctly & it fell off in transit. Lost a lot of tools & the box, well, it's a box no longer... I'm working outta' my home garage box, which is less than adequate for my level of responsibility. Due to replacement costs of the tools that were lost along the freeway I'm financing @ my limit w/Matco & can't put a box on the tab... I don't have enough scratch to buy a used box since the dealer is slow due to CA's weak economy & my main priority is keeping the house paid & food on the table for the family. Apologies for running on, but that's my not too sad story. I'm sure there are much more deserving cats on here, and closer to you at that(shipping is gonna' be less than kind)...

I'd like to throw my hat into the ring. I really don't think I would qualify as most deserving person. I have a loving wife and two beautiful daughters. What this guy really needs is a man cave to have an identity outside of ballet and barbie dolls. I have been trying to save for a few years to improve my garage. I even quit smoking after the new year so I can make my dream garage. I currently work out of a 12 x 24 space, but I hope to expand it into a two stall space where I won't have to spend my first hour digging out tools from the attic before doing anything. It is usually followed up by an hour of clean up to keep such a small space presentable. Here is my current space. I try and keep alot of stuff stored in the attic until I can have more floor space.

I will add this. If I do win, I plan on donating all of the Craftsman toolboxes burried there (4 of them) and many of the hand tools to the automotive tech program at the school district where I work to a deserving student as a way of passing it forward.

Whatever the outcome, thank you for the generous offer!

I am sure there are more deserving people but I will throw my hat in on this one.
Not for me but for my son. I have already been the benefactor of a great amount of generosity.
I had more than my share of bad luck in the last 12 months. I have had two devastating fires. The first is documented here

http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=94115&highlight=half

The second took out a large store of jeep parts (no insurance coverage) for retirement projects along with stuff that replaced items lost in the first fire.
My SSSLLLOOOWW shop build is documented here.

http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=80852&highlight=cattle

I replaced most of my lost tools with the insurance settlement and donations. While looking for the few items I don’t yet have I am also trying to build a legacy tool collection for my 5 year old son. It is he that would be getting the box eventually. Hopefully full of great mix of some of the best tools USA had to offer.

Sorry to say it, but you probably have a better shot at making a tool box out of license plates than of ever seeing one of these...Actually, that gets me to thinking....

Can someone just come out and say what they mean? No offense guys but are you stating forester does not live up to his promise? Or others will get the boxes? Or what? I just don't get beating around the bush on this one.

From the few PMs I've exchanged with 07forester, he seems to have a pretty busy life. I'd imagine that life probably got in the way. That, and his new boxes probably still aren't in yet. I've heard of people waiting months for a more "common" box from snap on. I think his new one has a few custom touches to it. Hopefully all is well with him and that he finds a few minutes to give an update. Kinda interested to see who the recipients will be!

Id love the big one. That is a sweet box.

Currently working out of a old snap on 31.5" wide set, only 17" deep I belive? Filled it up quick! HaHa

My carrier is just about to take off in a couple months.

I have been in a training program with Belle Tire for the last almost six months. Training takes place at there head quarters located in Allen Park MI, im in Waterford. About an hour drive in my gas hog Jeep.

We have been learning how to preform "basic" repairs as well as other services/repairs.

During the training we were locked in at our old tire tech pay scale, and limited to 36-40 hours max. Vs the 50-60 most of us were getting. So things have been pretty tight to say the least.

We have yet to learn what shop we will be placed in. We will start on a monday, and be informed on a friday. So im real excited to learn where I will be working.

Once placed we have a min one month to ? where we will work under that shope head tech. Once they feel we are fit, we will be cut free to make our own money.

So it would be amazing to walk into my new shop with a badass box like this.

Thanks for the opportunity!

When I first read your post it didn't click what you were saying, after reading it again its obvious but really may not be true.

Airing your laundry for all to see when you have had problems in your life can be a little pride swallowing, but if I can swallow a little pride and get something that will help me further take care of my family, I'm damn proud of that!

Family is number 1, saving pride is down on the list, at least for me.

This is very awesome of you!

I dont think im so deserving of a free toolbox but i do know that i need one lol. Iv started touching cars for a living about 9 years ago as a tire and lube guy and iv been a tech at various places for the past 7 years. Iv been at a nissan dealer, dodge dealer, 4 different NTB shops a firestone, goodyear, and finally where im at now, a Toyota dealer all within the past 4 years. The thing is, iv had a hard time finding a place that will do honest business with their customers who i also consider my customer after touching their car. I shocks me how sales guys will ask me to spray wd40 on shocks and struts so they can show and sell the customer. Replacing brakes, belts, that dont need it. Its never ending and it seems to be going on everywhere i go. Its sad because i take alot of pride in every job that i do. I wont lie, iv cheated befor and it feels terrible and i simply wont do it. So for this reason i usually leave or am asked to leave. Anyway, iv finally found a home at the dealer where im currently at. The techs are extremly professional and i feel blessed to have fallen into this job and work with the people i work with. The problem is that i took a 50% hourly flag rate pay cut. So im happy but man am i broke. Im 27, single, no kids living on my own with a dog and a cat and still cant afford a new box lol. My parents didnt want me to be a mechanic but i knew straight out of high school what i wanted to do. So i went off to college and didnt nothing with the education. Then the parents talked me into aviation maintenance school where i graduated and never touched a plane agan. It wasnt for me. And i ended up where i knew i would the entire time, an auto shop. But now i have 15k in college loans and 35k for aviation school loans. Any extra cash i get goes to tools and i even that is a special occasion. My small toolbox is stuffed and i dont really see any possible way for me to swing buying a new one for a good while. The 1022 would be all i ever need. Most of the guys at work that have been there for 15 -20 years do fine with a box that size. Iv always worked for anything i wanted. Started working at 15 cause i wanted to have a car and cash in my pocket. Iv always worked harder and longer to make cash flow. Its just not happening right now. Im working on getting more certifications to raise my pay but it wont be dramatic. Do i deserve this box? Probably not. Do i want it? Who doesnt? Do i need it? It sure would make life easier and take me a long way in this career. I dont have any terrible misfortunes, im doing alright, i still drink a beer here and there. Im just another hardworking guy that needs a break, like most of us here trying to make it.

Good luck to everyone, and thanks for giving everyone a chance to win!

Not where I'd like
Let me start by saying that this is one of the most generous things I've heard of anyone doing lately. There is plenty of deserving folks on here that I have just read about. I don't consider myself to be unfortunate, but others do. I just think of it as life. I have worked hard for everything I own, and at times have had to let go some of those things because of circumstances. So my story is below, and if I am found to be deserving, that would be the best thing that has happened to me in a long time. If not, I am sure the next guy will be happy to give those boxes a good home.

It goes something like this. I worked in the Auto Body/Hot Rod industry for a few years after high school and quickly built up a collection of tools. By the third toolbox upgrade, I had an awesome one. Well, after a few years in the industry I decided I wanted to serve my time, like previous family members, while I was still young. In 2007 I enlisted in the US Army and life got busy. I got married the same year and had a wonderful daughter the next. Before shipping off to boot camp, I had to sell a lot of stuff to afford my bills while I was in training because I was taking almost a 40% pay cut. So my beautiful new Matco boxes had to go. I had to fire sale it for just over $2k when I had $8k invested in the purchase. Oh well, had to do what I had to do. So four little cheap Craftsman boxes took it's place. Now the drawers are falling out because I have too heavy of tools packed into them.

And for my bad luck. After returning from deployment, I started having back issues. Time went on and I just tried to ignore it. Well fast forward and today I am about to hit a year from when I had back surgery and a disc fused with two others still torn up. Had to have Hernia repair surgery before that, and now have nerve damage from the surgery. So my 'groin' hurts randomly for extended periods of time, and there is nothing they can do about it. Trying to recover from back surgery, never being allowed to run ever again, I tried to start some light cycling. Bought a bike and two weeks later found out I had to have knee surgery. Knee is now doing better, but everything else still *****. Looks like I am going to have to have back surgery again. I'm only 25. So, now I am no longer medically acceptable in the Army's eyes and will be out in about 6 months on an honorable medical discharge. Since the job market has changed so much since I've been in the Army, it's going to be difficult to find something I can do and make a decent earning with my injuries/limitations now. I decided to finish my engineering degree when I get out, with the help of the GI Bill, so my future budget will be tighter than ever.

I love to wrench on just about anything, and I am not giving up my passion because of some injuries. I can't do it as a profession anymore but that won't stop me. I have just had to modify how I do it, and take it much slower/easier, and recruit the help of friends more often.

Right now I currently work out of a 8'x8' shed with all my **** jammed in there and stacked to the ceiling because I don't have a garage at the current place I'm stationed.

Here is what I had to sell, and I won't be able to afford another for a really long time.

076.jpg

So there it is. If I am found to be the most deserving, that would be the single greatest news I have heard since my daughter was born. Thanks for listening, and to all those who have posted about their hard times, I wish you all the best in the future and hope things turn around for you.

I think Mr.Forester was waiting for his new replacement Snap-On boxes to be delivered before he let go of the old ones.

Guys, on behalf of 07Forester, let me assure you he has not dropped this ball or is missing. He is traveling this month and will return in a couple weeks. He texted me today and has been having connectivity issues during his travels. Please be patient, as he is a very busy guy. If you have concerns, please e-mail me at [email protected].

Egg on your face?

This whole thread was always a pile of BS from the very first post. The story didn't add up. Amazing that so many fell for it.

Hopefully one of the moderators will talk with Ryan and I can get this stickied.

After talking with Ryan, and placing the order for my new SO boxes, I figured I would give back to the "community" by giving away two of the boxes I own now.

The two boxes I am giving away are a KRL1022 with SS top and riser in extreme Green, and a KRL1033 with SS top and riser in extreme green. Each box also comes with a power bank. These boxes were paid for THIS year. They have had a paint sealant applied, along with wax. They get spray waxed every friday. They look brand new. I've outgrown all of my toolboxes and ordered two new epiq's which I will combine into "one" to make my last and final "work" box. Each box will have a brand new set of drawer liners bought for them before I ship them out.

Here's how this is going to work. This thread will remain open from today, until the day I receive my new boxes.

The two "contests" to win the boxes are going to be "most deserving garage" and "most deserving member".

In your reply to this thread, tell me which box you are wanting and why you're the most deserving member, or have the most deserving garage.

You CAN apply to win BOTH boxes, but you will not WIN both boxes.

If applying to win "most deserving garage" please include a few pics, or a link to your own thread on here.

The ONLY rule to the game is, you CANNOT sell the boxes for monetary gain.

The winners will be PM'd by either myself, ryan or one of the other mods. The winners will also be chosen by my fiance, an "outsider". She's a therapist and can read through peoples ******** in an instant ;).

This contest is for people in the US only. Sorry for everyone else, but the shipping charges would be insane.

Anyways, good luck, and lets hear some stories!

I wonder if Ryan knows anything about our missing member? :headscrat

Or maybe RoarkIndustrialSolutions know what happened or where he is at.

Your lady definitely has had quite the effect on you and it's making you even more awesome! I think she has completed you. Kudos for your generosity with this offering and being a mentor (even to me.) Doing it right buddy!

Within the next few weeks I will be making a new paypal acct specifically for people who want to chip in. That money will go towards a third option, like a roll cart.

Also does anyone know if he set up a PayPal account or if anyone chipped in on it?

I've sent him a text this morning to get on here and respond. I am in no way involved with facilitating this giveaway. However, 07Forester is a friend and client, so I don't want to see him be degraded. He's an extremely busy individual.

a quick appearance and explanation of the "status" might well be in order however, and thanks for your assistance. I for one HOPE it's real, but sadly in this day and age, I'm just not quite the believer in people that I used to be.

Set your expectations low. That way you are seldom let down, and once in a while, pleasantly suprised!

You know, I see it like this...

A guy offers something to you for free. Just tell him why you could use his box and when his new ones come in, he'll give give box to two lucky people.

If I "win" a box, cool. If not, that's cool too. No money out of my pocket, so sweat off my back. It's not like I've paid for something and haven't received it.

There's a line about a gift horse that comes into play here.
