That's crazy. I would still trust my snap on tools to get the job done right on any car. Does that tool kit come with the car? Shoot I could actually afford a Ferrari, just take off the tool kit and owners manual :)

I'm guessing they don't work. Clearly the car still wouldn't run and that lead mallet was used to beat it to death. :(

In that level of Concours d'Elegance car shows the tool set is essential to judging. They will pay big money to have a complete set of tools. The cars for those tools can be in the $5+ million range, so the tools are a cheap investment really.

Look at his completed auctions. A smaller set sold for almost 7k. Looks like he deals in high end vintage parts too.

Maybe we are missing something in the add about receiving a "FREE" car with purchase.

That's just nuts.
But, if you look at his completed auctions, he has sold a tool set for 7000.00.

Then if you look at his other current auctions he has another similar set for 24,000.00.

I also loved the prices for the owners manuals.

I can see I will never own a Ferrari like that. OMG.

And I do agree with the last post about them going with a car worth 5 million it would be chump change to those guys to complete a restore project.

Damn

Those tools don't even look like very good quality. Doesn't one of the high end carmakers put Facom in their cars?

Whoever buys that is very rich and very stupid.

This is a pretty stupid and narrow minded statement.

These tools won't be purchased to be used, in fact most have never seen a fastener. Without having a proper tool kit, a car will easily lose its place on the grass. And while that probably wont mean anything to you, its a huge deal in the high end restoration world.

Oddly enough, the run of the mill 275's are on the lower end of the value scale ranging from 750,000 to 2,500,000. Earlier this year a rare 275 sold for 27 million. A GTO recently exchanged hands for over 50 million.

But what do i know, i only work on these cars daily...

If you want to show a car like that competitively, you need everything to be as original as possible...including the tool kit/manuals/stickers that came with it from the factory.

The tool kits always disappear and get broken up/thrown out/whatever over the years and that one belongs to a Ferrari that was made for four years way back in the sixties.

If you go through his feedback, you can see where he sold four lug nuts for $1500, $1200 for a warranty manual, $700 for a scissor jack, etc.

That's a rich man's game, so of course none of us really understand it.

"Photos of the knock off wrench with the 32mm nut are just to show you that the wheel knock off wrench fits a 32mm nut, the knock off nut is NOT included in sale"

you should make a thread showing what you do.. Like working on these kinds of cars. If you are aloud to take photos at work.

when you get into the rare car parts world thats chump change, Ive seen fenders sell for thousands, Oil filters for 1k, Theres reproduction and theres original, That tool kit seems pricey but when its a million dollar plus car and the tool kit adds 100k to the selling price 27k seems cheap

Don't think of it as a tool kit. Think of it as an antique. Or jewelry for an extremely expensive car.

No sillier than the numbers-matching engine in your Chevelle. Just a higher price point.

The car owner wouldn't buy that tool set.

For a car that uses those tools, the owner hires a restorer. The restorer is the one who scopes out parts to complete the restoration. A million bucks in parts for a 10 million dollar car is peanuts.
