Nimrod's hot rod hideaway
JaysinSpaceMan's Norcal fabrication shop
BB767's 1930's restoration

I don't think it's possible to pick just one.

I like Nimrod's too because it is just SO damn cool. But I have to admit I probably couldn't stand to leave my garage with exposed studs or a dirt floor; it would bug me.

So after a nod to Nimrod's, I like Jack's the best. Why? First, I pretendto myself I COULD make mine look as good. Second, I saw it in person the other day and it was full of projects Jack has been working on lately - meaning not picture perfect - and it STILL looks so cool. It is warm and even kinda welcoming; something most women would not relate to at all.

Plus, as much as I REALLY like the operating room cleanliness and order of some of the garages I've seen, it would look ridiculous to open the door of my 18'x20' 1927 garage and see that. If I can partially reproduce the ambiance (eek, what a word for a garage) or the patina of Jack's, I'll be very pleased. Numerous Honorable Mentions to a lot of other garages here too.

Oops, forgot to post the obligatory photos.

Jack, we need the same shots with the climbing ivy, etc but showing the new cabinets, tool box location, etc.

I had only recently heard of GJ, and then began reading the many threads in the Garage Gallery. Many of them are very impressive. Many of them show a lot of attention to detail. Each reflects the ambitions and dreams of it's owner. But I would have to say, my favorite garage is *mine*, simply because it is where I pursue my dreams, get to play with my 'toys' and it is my space to get away from the world :)

I like PurdeeSD's shop very nicely done and looks user freindly. But I would have to say Roger55 's is F--KING AWSOME. To build something that looks like it was built way back when and never changed is pretty cool.

As Jack O said, impossible to pick just one, I'm currently subscribed to about a dozen! That subs list will only get longer.

But at the moment the 1930s garage and the 70 yr old couple are up there with the best.

Jack Olsens Porsche pit... It is small compact well thought out, not cluttered, and it is not so big as to **** all the money out of a wallet. I wish I could think and create like that. I live by the rule, make a space fill it, make more space repeat. I also NEVER get a deal any place- always late.....

I think a thread like this pops up every once in awhile, and I think it's actually fun and very useful to new lurkers (I know that's what reeled me into this site in the first place).

Anyways, here’s a few of my favorites. There a bunch of others that are awesome too, these ones just especially appeal to me for one reason or another. I'm a teense biased towards people that seem to be fairly active on the board too (like, someone that starts a brag post and then disappears... well, they don't get my vote).

In no particular order:

Nasman’s build “70 year old couple” – inspiring, darn cool, creative building techniques.

shopnut’s asylum – big and useful. Livable and workable. Amazing attention to detail, patience in design and building, excellent documentation. Much of the work done by the owner.

the shrine’s saltbox – very well thought out. Functional and beautiful. Also great documentation. (two threads)

Jack’s place. He’s a one name superstar on here as you already know. Extremely creative, industrious, DIY. Plus it all just looks nice.

JaysinSpaceman’s fabrication shop/barn – he had me at first mention of “clerestory window”. Craftsmanship abound.

Nimrod’s rustic treasure cove. Doesn’t even need a comment by me, everyone knows this one.

Walrus’s place. It won’t be the biggest place on the board, but it’ll be done right and it will work perfectly.
