Don't laugh but my favorite 3/8 ratchet is a Stanley I got with a socket set on clearance at Meijer. Can't explain it but it just feels right, is fine tooth and very smooth. Is there something wrong with me?

is it the older style that doesnt have the 2 screw heads showing and the slightly bigger release button? If so those are great lol.

These pics are from when they were new,not as clean now.these two are awesome
it is a ratchet still?

I've almost got the mirror of those two, only my 3/8" has a black handle and my 1/4" has the plain chrome handle......awesome ratchets, I've also got a old SK Wayne the same as the 3/8" only it has the knurled handle.....Kiwi

Somehow, I usually end up using the F80 second from top.

Snap-On 1/4" ratchet (don't know model number, but it's not the new Dual 80 but the similar looking older one) and Williams B-52 and S-52 for the larger sizes.

Why? Because I was working in my friend's shop for a while and had to borrow some ratchets from his shop foreman as my tools weren't there. Suddenly my old Cman stuff felt inferior... had a Kobalt 1/4" that is actually OK but gave it away when I got Snap-On ratchets (both std and long) for a good deal and someone needed one (actually shop owner friend's sister)

No pics, will post later...

I usually go with a fine tooth count. SK 40970 1/4, Matco indexable 3/8 and Bonney AA707 1/2. If I get something stubborn I grab the SK 3/8 or 1/2.

I used Craftsman raised panels for about 20 years. Now, I use the HF composite ratchets.

I have really grown to love my Mac spin flexes. I bought the 3/8" used simply because it was too cheap to pass. I found myself using it all the time so I bought the 1/4" new. I use the **** out of them. I don't care what anybody says, classic Mac ratchets are awesome.

I've got Dual 80s and Facom round heads in all sizes and most styles but my favourite ratchet is a MAC XR8K.

There is just something about the knurling and the old school ratchet sound that I really like, if the MAC wont shift it then I use a FHLF80.

Honestly, don't have a go to ratchet. It's either a cheap beater or one that is needed for the circumstance. I have been considering going dual 80 for a go to to make things a little easier.

I use a Craftsman RP 3/8 inch ratchet more than any other just because I keep it in a tool bag under the hood for quick fixes and to loan out to people who think a ratchet doubles as a hammer and a screw driver as a chisel. When I have the ambition to take my Craftsman Professional tool bag out of its hiding place inside the car, I prefer the Craftsman Low Profile. If I am at home where I keep my small SK and Snap-on collections, I usually bring out my standard SK ratchet if what I'm working on is involved or time consuming. I have a Snap-on RHFT ratchet that I like but don't trust to put much torque on because I have seen the handle bend without much stress on it; because of that, I use a breaker bar with it constantly. I like my Gear Wrench Flex-Head mostly because it is longer.

I plan to get a Snap-on Dual 80 to see what all the fuss is about; also a Wright, Williams and Proto, just in their standard offerings in 3/8 inch drive because that is what I use the most (I am too clumsy and oafish to use 1/2 inch ratchets unless the 3/8 just won't do the job).

SO F720, love it. I'm slightly worried about using one of the newer series in case I fall in love with the extra gearing. But for now I couldn't live without it!

Mac round head fine tooth long handle flex head. Warranty my snappy 3/8 s dual 80'S all the time. Only stripped the head out once on my mac that gets stomped on by 270 lbs of *** daily. My SOs are still good ratchets but they just can't handle the abuse.

I use my Matco bfr128lft for just about everything all day everyday. The locking flex head is perfect for most everything. I also have the Armstrong version as a backup for when my Matco breaks and I'm waiting for the new one to come in.

I use them so much. I wear out a Matco about every 6 months, I haven't needed to have the Armstrong repaired yet. But I only use it for at most 2 weeks every 6 months. So it doesn't get worked near as hard.

Another surprisingly good ratchet is my matco 88 regular length 3/8s drive. I just use it in the garage at home but in no means do I baby it. Haven't had to warranty yet but I don't know about professional use under constant heavy abuse. Then my sk tough 1/2 drive long handle flex head that takes heavy abuse at the work place. Had a snap on dual 80 24" breaker ratchet. Warrantied it quite a few times then decided I'd retire it to home use and bring the old trust sk to work.

No real "go-to" for me - it all depends on the task.
Given that, there are some ratchets I end up using more than others:

1/4 Drive: Kobalt Ergo-Handled 72 Tooth. Husky (Gearwrench) Roto Ratchet
3/8 Drive: Snap On F80, Carlyle 100 Tooth Roto Ratchet

Don't use 1/2 Drive much, but when I do an old raised panel Craftsman works for most of those tasks, and it's a beat up and cheap enough tool that I don't mind cheater barring it if needed.

I am a HUGE fan of roto-head ratchets, thought they looked goofy and gimmicky when I first saw them, but actually using them made me a believer!

If I could have only ONE ratchet out of all my tools, as a "do everything" tool, I would choose (with VERY little hesitation) the Snap On F80 - that thing is as close to a perfect "do everything" ratchet as has ever been conveived - at least for the kinds of work I do. Why not the Roto Ratchet for this? Easy... there are times you REALLY don't want the head to flex, plus the roto head does not fit in some of the tight spaces the F80 pear head will. Plus, there are always universal sockets and extensions for times where flex is required... works most of the time if you don't have a flex head ratchet.

This is the Kobalt ergo-handled 1/4 Drive ratchet I'm talking about:

I like my new snap on 80 tooth but my go to 3/8 was always an SK
and in 1/2 a Williams.

My go tos in 3 drive sizes are on this top shelf here. Just plain Hazet. I like the comfort handle for extended use (clean with Xenit citrus degreaser) and they just work. Nothing fancy. I also have several other good ones like SO FLF80, Armstrong 1/2 locking flex, wright, plomb, Proto, tiny bit ratchets... The hazets are the go to for everyday though.

Recently I've been using the older style CM series husky ratchets. They are a nice, "under the radar" ratchet IMHO.

You have to be really secure to rock a rainbow ratchet, not that there's anything wrong with that :p

Mine would be my Armstrong 3/8th 60 tooth ratchet. Or really any of the ratchets in the Maxx series by Armstrong. But the standard 3/8th's model is the one I use the most.
