> I wonder why they charge tax for so many states when most other websites do not?

i think if they have distribution center / physical presence in the state they are required to collect sales tax - being Grainger they are probably in most states ...

No tax here and we have Grainger :dunno:

I believe Zoro is a separate company from Grainger. Sure they have similar owners and board members but they are not the same company. So the tax collection has nothing to do with Grainger.

Are you going to use casters on it?

I think I am going to get a pallet jack instead. heavy duty, Quality casters are expensive. I could also use the pallet jack to move my plow around. I can get a pallet jack from harbor freight for $219, but I will keep watching craigslist to find a good deal.

So the good news is my Baileigh MPS-1 throat less shear I picked up from Zoro came in today. It seems like it will be really smooth. Can't wait to give it whirl. A Beverley would be awesome but can't be touched for what I got this from Zoro for.

The bad news the packing sucked so it took a bit of a beating. I don't really fault Zoro as much as Baileigh though. The things are heavy and the box and random styrofoam blocks stuffed in the box are all typical China ****. It just didn't hold up.

I'll give Zoro a call and see what the options are...

Damn, that *****, although it looks only cosmetic, I wouldn't be happy with keeping that. Maybe you can get an additional discount? ;)

Yeah this kinda thing is built pretty durable obviously so it appears to be cosmetic. Still, I'm pretty obsessive about taking care of tools and such and would rather nt start out in the hole ha.

Update: talked to Zoro today and they are taking care of it without question. Another great experience with Zoro.

Now here's to hoping the replacement makes it with box more intact.

Did they list the spool gun separately or in combination with the welder? If separately how much did you pay? Thanks

It was seperate.
Went by the MFG part number.

Still waiting on the welder, ordered on cyber monday.

Grainger is the parent company of Zoro. They are very much one in the same.
My stuff showed up in/on Grainger boxes & pallets.

I asked about the tax when I ordered since Zoro doesn't have a presence in my state but was told that since Grainger did they had to charge it.

25% off orders over $250 today.

I received my first order from them yesterday. Fast shipping. No tax to my Florida address and free shipping. This place is great!

Time to load up my cart again.

Today I got a duplicate item via UPS of something that I had ordered about 10 days ago. I called Zoro letting them know about the mistake and asked how to return it. She said just keep it. Damn!

Federal law says they could not demand you return it, so these larger companies typically just say keep it to avoid any potential liability from unscrupulous consumers.

Yes. Here it is in black and white on the FTC website:

http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0181-unordered-merchandise

A couple of quotes:

Q. Am I obligated to return or pay for merchandise I never ordered?
A. No. If you receive merchandise that you didn’t order, you have a legal right to keep it as a free gift.

Q. Must I notify the seller if I keep unordered merchandise without paying for it?
A. You have no legal obligation to notify the seller.

The rebate is only good if you purchased an additional $100 in Miller products on the same invoice. So I guess I'm out. I did not do that.

Please let us know how you like the Baileigh mps-1. I've been looking for one for years & i'd like a Beverly... but can't justify the price.
I was at Baileigh for a open house / training class & I used the shear there, but I was not very impressed with it. It seemed very similar to the one they sell at harbor freight & it didn't cut very smooth. (maybe it was used incorrectly by "newbies" that had no experience with it)... but I thought it would leave a nicer edge, etc.
(I used to work at a place that had a real Beverly & it worked much better, despite being a lot older)
Thanks for any future input on how it works.

I was ready to pull the trigger on a Millermatic 140 tonight, but then noticed it's not covered under the rebate here: http://www.millerwelds.com/landing/build-with-blue/files/pdf/Build-With-Blue-Rebate.pdf

For those who bought a 211- make sure you fill this out before Feb 15th!

Thank you for the reminder! I have forgotten to print it out several times now when I had the opportunity as I don't normally have access to a printer.

Also of note in my Zoro boxes I received a piece of paper that said I could get a 25% discount now through sometime in January and gave a promo code. May pick up a few more things in January to take advantage of that.

Zoro is drying up these days, no good deals AFAIK. They don't even do special Milwaukee BOGO offers
