I received my 36"x72" Butcher Block countertop. One corner got whacked, but the rest look fine. That'll be the back bottom, I guess. They also sent a 14"x16"x8" box with a Panavise speed knob (2" circle) in it on the same LTL truck... But hey, free shipping on a 147# countertop.

My Kennedy 3611 had a corner damaged as well. Called them and they sent a pre-paid label right away. Hopefully UPS is more careful with the next one. I'm not a very patient person..

I got my three packages on two different days. Two were on good shape but the one with my 4000 pack of collated nails (Senco) looked like it had been thrown off the loading dock and the exterior shipping box retaped by UPS. Nail racks everywhere inside box.
Not worth hassling over though, just nails.

One of the most breakable items in my order was unfortunately the first thing placed into the box. All of the heavy tools were put on top of it, then the shipping 'air pillows' added on top. The electronic item got smashed. I sent photos of it to Zoro, they have already shipped a replacement and emailed me a UPS label for the return. All at zero cost and minimal effort required from me.

I am more than happy to put up with a mediocre search function for prices and customer service like this. They earned me as a loyal customer.

Have that digi cam ready on every order. Zoro has to take a beating on replacing damaged shipments, you'd think they'd train their warehouse. Stories like this are commonplace. Although I'm impressed you got "air pillows" at all.

"Now Hiring: warehouse picker. Prior experience at bagging groceries required. Single interview question: do the eggs go on the bottom? Contact Zoro.com"

Remember, they are part of Grainger, so they are used to shipping pallets of stuff, not individual items. Items aren't re-packaged by Zoro, so they just take the designed-for-pallet boxes and ship them. That's why so much gets damaged. Amazon does the same thing on a lot of items, like Bessey clamps. They ship the retail box as the final packaging, and they always arrive broken. :sigh: So much waste.

I have two shipments that should be here on Monday, then another on Thursday. I am guessing they are not making a huge profit, my eight pound hammer was $35.78 and they shipped it solo. Then the other order is about 15 pounds of hammers. The last item was the milwaukee 12/18 multi-bay charger, that actually charges three packs at once rather than the BS sequential one they had offered before.

Zoro has a couple safes, one for things that go bang I am interested in. 30% off and free shipping would be a pretty good deal.

There is a 15% off coupon over $150. I needed the draft gauge, so I had to cut an order. My oil burner can't wait.

I totally missed out on the March coupons. I'm also holding out on an order until they post up more coupons.

I keep wanting to try zoro but I just cant.
Who do they cater to? Cause its not the tool buying contractor.

The DEWALT Bare-Tool DC212B sds drill is 219 on amazon with free shipping
Zoro = $300.18 with shipping and tax.

Basically they are saying if its not on sale or 25% off We are ****** you on price.

I dont like that business model at all.

I like Zoro they are owned by Grainger.
They cater to smaller groups than Grainger does. They also sell on e-bay.

I am a plant engineer/Maintenance supervisor. If it was not for Grainger and McMaster carr It would be difficult to keep a factory going.
No one in a large business has the time to try to save a few bucks on a power tool and if I would try to purchase from some place that I do not all ready have an established account at it would cost hundreds to process in the order to save a few bucks.

Selling a tool at list price is not ****** you it is just not selling at a discount.

Better than their parent companie's (Grainger) business model. "We will **** you and you will like it because we are the biggest in the world. We set our prices at double MSRP and they will never go down!"

I've argued with my Grainger rep a few times on their tactics and he always just comes back "how did we get to be so big then" and "Fastenal has hidden charges that make them more expensive blah blah blah..." :wtf:NOT!! We've looked at our Fastenal bill and never seen anything that would make there prices anywhere near Graingers.

My company is in the process of setting up a national account between all of our sites. We had both Grainger and Fastenal as well as a couple others bid it out and when the bids came back G was 14% higher, when we told the rep about it he said "Is 14% really that big of a deal?!" Ummm when dealing with a couple bucks NO, but when dealing with a couple million bucks YES! :shocking::shocking:

I think you'll find that Zoro's pricing has been argued before in numerous threads on GJ. Like everything else, you need to shop around to see who has the cheapest price. I've ordered during their sales and found items that were worth buying. And I've seen other items I wouldn't buy because of their high price.

^^^Absolutely. You always need to shop around and compare prices.

I've found that Zoro's regular price can be the lowest even without a coupon (ex: Proto Duratek sets). You'll also find that some of Zoro's regular prices are real high.

Because one tool that you want is priced higher? Buy Milwaukee, zoro's regular prices are fairly close to Home Depot's. Or anything else that's listed at the beginning of this thread. You will note that Dewalt is not mentioned.

Close like this on the M18 Fuel 18-Volt Brushless Lithium-Ion Hammer Drill/Impact Driver XC Combo Kit?

hd = 399.00
amazon = 349.99
Zoro = 454.24

Wow, the Grainger rep sounds like a true work of art. The "how did we get that big" comment reflects very poorly on him (and the company). The 14% comment takes the cake :shocking: I would of told him then he can pay it out of his own pocket if it's 'not that big of a deal.' I guess some people think that businesses are the world's sugar-mama.

Not for nothing but 5-7 years late should not be complimented.

They should have figured this out years ago.

They have already lost me as a customer no matter how much they drop their prices.

Last year alone i spent 5k on amazon in tools. I'm glad they have good customer service but if I can not find what I am looking for guess I'll never know how good the shipping and service is.

Sales on over priced items are not sales.

Amazon : 110.99 .... http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007NVSTO8/?tag=atomicindus08-20

Same thing on Zoro : 129.35 + shipping $7.24 - discount = $110.72

So why again is anyone going to bother wasting valuable time fumbling through that web site ordering from them? To save myself .27 CENTS?

You'll notice it is a YMMV situation.
:see:

I got a zoro catalog in the mail that has a promotions page showing 24-25 March as one of them. Doesn't say what it is, but does say this:

"If you're looking for savings this March, you're in LUCK. You don't need to kiss the Blarney Stone to find good fortune, you just need to visit zoro.com/catalog2015 March 24-25!"

Next one shown after that is 15-22 June and then 25-28 August.

Codes are also in the calender they send with purchases.

Not very many of them.

You can sign up for emails on their site. You could also subscribe to this thread and set it for instant alerts. I'm on my phone or I'd link you to the zoro sign up.

Yes, obvious troll.

Obvious zoro employee?

Don't tell me their normal prices are competitive on Milwaukee... and call me a troll without you putting up some proof.

m12 line ...2498-24

amazon = 319.29
home depot = 299.00
Zoro = 340.75

I seriously wanted to give them a shot and purchase something but not with their inflated prices on EVERYTHING I look at. Again who are they catering to? As a general contractor I have found Zero products that are competitively priced unless its one of their sales even then its only pennies less than a normal buying outlet.

They are competitive with Knipex pliers, fire extinguishers, and ladders. And if you don't pay sales tax to Zoro, they are actually competitive with that Milwaukee pricing you mentioned above. I have to pay sales tax when ordering from Amazon, so they are already cheaper than Amazon.

They are not competitive for me:
Zoro: $454.24
Amazon: $347.99

Any way you cut it, that's not even on the same page.

Please stop. This is the Zoro deals thread, not the Zoro not-deals thread.

Thanks.

I would like to add a nice Warn M12000 winch to one of my Land Cruisers.

Zoro, Amazon & Everyone else: $1500.00

Zoro with 30% off: $1050.00 (lowest I've ever seen anywhere)

Should have pulled the trigger last time there was a 30% off sale but didn't.

You clicked on the thread voluntarily, if you don't think Zoro has hot deals than don't click on it. I don't need your opinion on a few cherry picked item prices compared to amazon or HD.
