I filled out the market research survey too. I let them know that I am for a rewards program as long as it didn't detract from their current promotions

Anyone get the Zoro market research survey?

It's about the possibility of creating a rewards program. I think I buy enough there that I would benefit from it, but that also means it takes money away from other deals (like if they cut back from 30% off to 25% to fund the rewards program, then I wouldn't be in favor). If they did something like Amazon prime (free 2-day shipping with an upfront fee), I might be for that. I hate trying to make basket minimums just to receive a $10 part, something like Prime shipping would increase my impulse purchasing a lot (for better or worse).

Not sure where I stand ultimately.

Yes, I just rec'd the survey request and in return they said they'd send a $20 off coupon for a future order.

I was pretty blunt in the survey and told them to forget about any rewards program and focus their efforts on fixing their crappy website. (especially search). In the meantime a full catalog or PDF of a catalog would help.

I also told them to continue the flash sales and cheap/free shipping.

Haha, that's probably the better reply.

I think a Prime-like option wouldn't be bad, it should be easy to implement from an IT perspective and it's pretty much self-funding and shouldn't take away from other sales.

You are saying that they could easily implement something that has to do with IT? :dunno:

Zoro should concentrate on the search engine and a catalog. I find new things that they sell all the time, usually after purchasing them elsewhere.

I have absolutely no issue with Zoro's shipping therefore there's no need for a Prime like program IMHO.

They ship very quickly from regional dist. centers, it's free over $50 and only $5 less then $50. If it ain't broke don't fix it wrt shipping.

15% OFF $175. Good through the 22nd. Enter "JUNE2015". I believe it's a one time use.
I just used it, so I know it works.

Well I ordered about 360 worth of stuff..

Got me the milwaukee hi output 1/2 impact and the 3/8 fuel. Wishing now i had spent the coin for the fuel drill and impact driver awhile back but oh well. Also got some channel locks and some irwin groove locks. Ive been waiting a SUPER long time to buy the milwaukee stuff. Now I need another battery, probably going to buy the milwaukee flashlight battery combo down the road.

I figured out that even on ebay zoro with 20% off was a better deal. Until they got me for tax.. Still cheaper, but the tax was like 30 bucks...damn taxes..

If looking at the Miller 211, check out this thread: http://garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=294389

I looked at this. It sounds like it would be just as good as if I bought the welder, 2 spool guns, got a 3rd via MIR, take 20% off, and then sell all 3 guns for $150 a piece. But I'd rather get a welder for $600-$650 and not worry about rebates and eBay sales.

Only thing that worries me is possible customs fees since the item is coming from Canada. The thread you posted didn't really say one way or the other on that.

I went with the Zoro deal (and the extra spool gun to sell...), and would again, so I understand. Just throwing it up as a "check here" too. Rebate was fast, as was getting the extra spool gun, so no complaints there.

I can tell you the last time I bought stuff from Canada, One had customs (coming from a shop), the other did not (coming from an individual), and that was about 12%.

Thanks. I think that makes the Zoro deal the better way to go. Even if I get the welder for $600 on eBay that's more than I'd pay with the Zoro deal and selling all the spool guns not counting the 12%.

Thanks. I'm trying to decide on an A/C unit for my shop. Zoro has #: G5332397 | Mfr #: FFRH18222 - frigidaire. Walmart has the FFRH1822Q2 for $612. Zoro has a different model number so they may be different but with anybody able to use the code I don't have to make a rushed decision tonight.

I would think 4th of July may get a code, that will allow you to get the 211 deal with all the rebates. It could even be a 30% one, they say once a quarter and that would be a new quarter.

I did:

Miller 211
Mig welding wire (Hobart, .035, 2 lbs)
Flux Core welding wire (Hobart .035, 2 lb)
Miller Self darkening welding helmet
Spool Gun
Welding gloves

That got me over $400, and with sales tax right at $1300 after the discount.
$400 rebate + free spool, put me at $900.
Selling one Spool gun should net around $200 after ebay fees.

Puts me at $700 with some extras like a spool gun and some wire. Also ordered a consumables kit from Miller separately, so I guess I am really going to be around $730, all in. I would probably swap out the gloves for a consumable kit if ordering again.

If it is decided to get rid of the second spool gun, will be around $530.

I did:

Miller 211
2x Miller Spool guns

I did 20% off the 211 and 15% off the guns (long story)

Total was 1570.11

Then -$400 rebate, -$600 for 3 spool guns for a final total of $570.11 after all is said and done. That's only $100 more than I'd have paid for a Hobart 140 so I'll call that a win.

I opted to keep price of entry down (for marital reasons) and then I'll sneak the accessories in as I go.

You realy think you can get $200 after shipping and fees for a spool gun now that the market is flooded with them?

I think so. They move on eBay for $230-$260. If I put them up there for $220 or $215 then I think they'll move no problem. Granted I'll come in under the $200 mark, but not much...I think I can clear an average of $175-$180 on them and even at that amount I'll be happy.

I also think in a brief scan of eBay that "flooded" might be a strong word. And there's always CL and the classifieds section here.

It may take a little time, but I think I'll do ok and come out with a good deal in the end.

Current pricing indicates a strong "yes".

Completed (Sold) items, sorted by most recent:

Spoolmate 100 - 1 bid - $263.62, free shipping, June 21
Spoolmate 100 - BIN - $249.99, free shipping, June 20
Spoolmate 100 - BIN - $250.00, free shipping, June 20
Spoolmate 100 - BIN - $255, Free shipping, June 16
Spoolmate 100, 1 bid - $200, $28.85 shipping, June 15
Spoolmate 100, 9 bids, $224.50, $18.50 shipping, June 14

My spare did not sell in its first listing, but will simply be listed again (free), until it sells. They do sell, not at a fast pace, but quick enough.
That is an average a bit over $240, so with ebay fees taking $24 of that, you have $15+ to ship and still clear $200.

Thanks for that info.... I said "flooded" because I think this is somewhat of a niche market and they won't sell super fast. I also try to remove the ones that are sold by an authorized retailer as seller's like that tend to bring a slight premium price that customers are willing to pay.

It looks like you can for sure clear just shy of $200.... now if only Zoro will do a 30% off flash sale before the end of July!

Awesome, whats the benefits package look like?

I actually work in the financial industry, specifically with the stock market...

And Cagullet1 - were you one that got stuck in the ebay fiasco on the 211?

Also hoping for the 30% soon, I need more tools like a hole in the head, but that isnt stopping me...

I got a 211 on the last 30% flash sale, but ordered one of the one's on ebay for my brother. So yup, I get to deal with getting my money back. He's hoping they have another flash sale so he can get a 211 at a price he can actually afford.

Here's what I got with my 211 on the last flash sale:

G1666971 Miller 211
G0266077 Mig welding accessory kit/consumables
G3737492 Miller protective cover
G3523974 Miller .030 wire 11lb 70S6
G4603322 Miller Pro Hobby welding helmet
G4601387 Miller welding jacket
G2583183 Spoolmate 100
G4621477 Miller Safety Glasses

Since my brother already has most of the safety/consumable items, He plans on getting an extra helmet to sell to his coworkers, and possibly another spoolmate or 2 to resell. The spoolmates have not been selling well on craigslist in the Dallas area.

I'll be the first to admit that I can be pretty dumb sometimes, but the Miller rebate form I have says it needs to be purchased by December 31, 2015.

You're right according to Miller's website. Deal is good until the end of the calendar year. I'm sure they'll be a 30% flash sale by then.

That's for Miller's Build with Blue rebate. The spoolmate 100 rebate on the 211 ends on July 31st.

What is the standard holiday discount if they do not have a flash sale before the end of July?

I would like to sell my welder now in preparation for this but would be devastated if I cannot afford to order a replacement.

I figure with 20% off this deal would still be decent.

I see 20% pretty regularly... so I would think you would be fine if you could afford this with a 20% discount.
