I finally broke down and ordered the Wilton 75th Anniversary 5-1/2" vise that comes with the free Wilton 20416 Sledge Hammer (sells for around $50 alone) . $279.30 out the door. I like the glossy standard greenish blue color better than the black that appears to me a dull finish but for the price difference it is hard to complain. There were some ratchets that I wanted but didn't want them to be shipped at the same time as the vise as I figured they would try to put everything in one box and end up damaging some of the ratchets.

I broke down an bought one too. I've been eyeing it up since I first saw it on here. With this 30% off it made it too hard to pass up!

I wouldn't wait too long. Since it's a special anniversary edition, I would assume they will no longer be available after the end of this year and stock might be dwindling the closer it gets to December. Plus, there may not be another 30% off by the end of the year.

Any idea how often these 30% sales happen, or when the next one might be based on prior years? I'd like to get a few items as the 30% is really hard to pass up, but this month, in particular, is rather tight for me.

All previous sales / discounts are referenced in the previous pages of this thread.

The last site-wide 30% code was around Thanksgiving 2015? Site-wide 25% comes up a few times a year and site-wide 20% seems to be about monthly.

01-05-2016
I went through the Zoro calendar and took down all the codes in it for the year.

January 13 - $40 off $200+ - Code SNOWBALL
February 16 - 15% off $150+ - Code COLDOUT
March 9-10 - Free Tool Pouch with $175+ - Code CARRIER
April 13 - $35 off $125+ - Code RAINING
May 19 - 25% off $175+ - Code BLOSSOM
June 27 - 20% off $200+ - Code WARMINGUP
July 18-19 - $50 off $250+ - Code COOKOUT
August 8 - 10% off $100+ - Code AUTUMN
September 5-6 - $25 off $100+ - Code FALLTIME
October 11 - 10% off 125+ or 20% off 225+ - Code USETOOLS
November 17 - 15% off $125+ - Code FREEZING
December 5 - Free knife with $150+ - Code BLADE

Are Weather Guard truck boxes any good? Been looking for a truck tool box, but the one's I've seen at places like TSC/Northern/etc. seem very thin and not very secure.

The Weather Guard boxes I've seen are a step above most of the ones you mentioned.
Usually can find the on Craigslist pretty cheep if you aren't in a hurry around here.

Next 30% off will most likely be somewhere around Black Friday / Cyber Monday (similar to last year); should run towards first week of December. And that too--free shipping, no minimum :)

If you care you can just contact them tomorrow and tell them your order didn't get through in time, they generally honor it.

I'm the same way, definitely prefer the look of the green Wilton, but you never know, the black might be worth more down the road since it's not the normal Wilton color from the factory. Let us know how the black turns out. I'm wondering how "dull" it looks in person.

The black on the Wilton anniversary vise is about like a semi-gloss. It isn't too bad really. It is a vise after all :). I too would've preferred the normal color. However, with the conbodeal and with a Zoro discount you basically end up paying around half the price of a tradesman in the other color. The hammer is nice bonus too.

It seems surprising Wilton would offer up the pkg at the retail they do. Best I can tell the vise is identical to the non-anniversary edition. Aside from the color of course...

I'm very impressed with the shipping time on my vise. I placed my order at 12:43PM yesterday and it arrived this morning. However, I'm not as impressed with the vise as I hoped. Que the nitpicking. It was not double boxed and the end cap got dented/scuffed. I already have two 4" Wilton 400 vises and even though the jaw size on the new vise is 1-1/2" wider, the new vise is overall smaller including height and length of the vise, the handle is smaller and the height of the jaw itself. The attention to detail is not as good either. Notice no seams are visible on the 400. I'm sure that the new vise is as good or better than the quality of any other currently manufactured vises out there however there is something to be said for picking up a vintage vise and restoring it. I made the mistake of assuming this vise would be built just like my 400 but with wider jaws. I just wanted to make you guys aware that are considering purchasing one of these during the next sale.

Hi the tradesmen is done a little more sloppy and cannot compare to the machinist or C series. The C series is like the upgraded tradesmen fit and finish. Although the Wilton site lists tolerance to be same as all bullets. The endcap probably scuffed as soon as it gets from Wilton to the vendor.

Used the 30% off deal they were running on Aug. 23 - 24 to pick up some misc. hand tools and pegboard pegs. Unfortunately, I just received a message that the Armstrong 11-994 (3/8" Maxx Flex ratchet) I ordered is no longer available. :dunno:

It seems your only resort now is eBay (with PayPal coupons or eBay Bucks) :)

That's odd. The 1/4" and the 1/2" were drop ship items.

The 1/4" disappeared from my cart and I got the message "we don't carry that anymore" when i searched for it.

So was the 3/8", which is what's really surprised me. :shocking:

Heck, I'd have even waited if Armstrong was just out of stock, but that's not what the content of the email from Zoro stated at all. Instead, it's contents were simply No Longer Available.

I found it in stock from multiple vendors, and found one that with shipping, came to just over $55, which is only ~$5 - $6 more than the 30% off price from Zoro ($49.56 IIRC).

Yeah, the annoying thing is that no one seems to have both the 1/4" and the 1/2" in stock at the low price. Tooltopia has one, HJE the other, but the only one with both was Amazon at a price $30 or so higher for the pair.

I jumped on the Rigid 4.5in vise it will be around 165.00 which is about 100.00 more than the POS China vise I was looking at from Harbor Freight.

You're gonna love it! I have an F60 which was my upgrade from a Columbian, which in turn was an upgrade from a HF type Chinese made vise. The Ridgid really shines with the jaw serrations. They're very fine, and extremely grippy. You can hold round stock firmly without a ton of pressure.

I ended up placing an order with JB Tool Sales.

Ironically, my package from them arrived earlier today, and wouldn't you know, they sent the wrong item (sent the 1/4" version instead; 10-994). :wtf: So now I have to try and call them on Monday, and get this sorted.

FWIW, the price has gone up ~$24 since I ordered on the 11-994 (3/8" Maxx Flex). But I fully intend to make them honor my order.

Also, I don't need a 1/4" flex. I did check the locking mech. and spin the drive end, and I liked what I got to try out while still in an unopened bag.

Well shoot. I too ordered both the 1/4 and 3/8 maxx flex. I guess I'll be getting the email. That *****.
FWIW, JB Tool Sales shows plenty of stock on all 3 sizes.

I'm not so sure the prices are all that wonderful at this point, but they seem to be on par with other sources from what I've seen. And if the stock quantities are to be believed, at least you can get whatever sizes you need (particularly since other sources are either out or drop ship directly from Apex).

Both the shipping cost and speed were great. I had mine sent by standard shipping Wed., and it showed up on Sat. from FedEx. So the cheapest shipping is decent IME.

Hope this helps. :)

JB tool had a number of bad reviews at BBB.org. Google's reviews were more positive, but it's still good to get a 1st data point.

I've bought from them numerous times, directly through their website. It is simply just a drop-shipping operation ran out of a guy's house about a mile from me. Asked if I could do a local pickup and was told nope. No issues ever, and most of the stuff I bought came from a warehouse in Wixom, MI.

Zoro is so weird, I just used the 30% off coupon, and they now have sent me a 25% off coupon. At least the 25% off can be used for anything.

I think the Ridgid vises are ****!!

I just got the mailer about 20% off $200. Honestly I'm considering the M12 flashlight. I know flashlight aficionados have a million criticisms of it, but I'm really only concerned w "good" light output and battery platform. I'm not a believer in integrated batteries and I'm heavily invested in M12 (and 18 and 28).

To have a decent flashlight and never again buy C's, D's....whatever. That's fine by me.

Still, even after 20% the damn thing is $81.

No matter, I've already ditched everything that uses letter cells in truth. I already just carry an M12 or M18 work light or stick light or lantern. The point is to buy more Milwaukee!!

I just placed an order for some Channellock adjustable wrenches, an OTC remote starter switch (my cheap Actron broke), and a Mityvac 7201 fluid evacuator. I would have really liked to buy one of those Ridgid vises previously posted, but I think I have a few too many vises as it stands currently.
