New Alliance Vendor: Stedlin Mfg.

Well that took a while… It’s a long story, but Stedlin and I have been talking for a few weeks now about both sponsoring the Garage Journal and becoming Alliance Vendors. After a folly of weeks due to my over-active spam filter and Covid fallout, we were finally able to hook up and now, you can save 25% off of Stedlin goods and get free shipping on orders of over $25. If you are an alliance member, you can get your discount code here.

Anyway, I actually have one of their couplers in my shop and… they are worth the pretty penny they ask for em. They connect and disconnect easily and leaking is not an issue. Put simply, they do what you want them to do when you want them to do it. These are not big box store couplers and if you area a daily shop guy – you will appreciate that more than you might realize.

The Stedlin connectors definitely seem high quality. When I get around to building out my air system, I'll definitely look into their connectors.

These look pretty cool, I'm needing new ones in my shop just wondering if they work with standard connectors as well. I understand you wont have the slow bleed down just would hate to have to change out all the tools.

Those slow bleed inserts look nice. Later this summer I'll be curing my mad snakes.

This is a concern and I elude to it in some of the design threads. Ideally the system has 1 connector, at the tool end, no mad snakes. An engineer I had in for something went right to this, noticed it in our design.

interesting turn of events. i have no issues with stedlin mfg. never have and probably never will. didn't care for his grunting videos but that was him making himself looking foolish not me.

all of that said. the guy was banned and some place along the line somebody from his company (or him, doesn't matter) started posting discount links in hot deals. borderline spam which i thought was a nono. i reported all of it to ryan just as an fyi. a few of them were deleted. other than the deleted stuff it can or could all be found if you look.

after being banned and spamming, now they are an alliance vendor? things that make you go hmmmm.......

weird stuff. i just checked and the member formerly known as deborah and posting in hot deals is now stedlin. it's all in black and white if you look. the old stedlin now shows as guest usually means banned which he was.

I was wondering about that too. I actually followed his thread and was sad when he was banned. I liked learning about hte new products they were coming up with. I managed to miss them spamming in hot deals.

What was he banned for anyway? I forgot.

I bout the conectors and swivel a year or two ago and they are fantastic.

You have to be an alliance member to access the discount.

Been out in the shop this week... and should have addressed this earlier.

Deborah signed up and posted about their products without knowing our policy on such things. That post was deleted. She then emailed to ask me why her post was deleted... BUT, we had a weird spam filter issue and I didn't get any of her emails. So, after a few weeks she posted again.

Figuring it was an account that was up to no good, I deleted it again and sent a pm this time. From here, we figured out the weird email issue and started talking. She decided to sponsor The Garage Journal and here we are.

So... yeah, no nefarious actions here fellas. And I'm unsure why you would assume that? I don't think I have a history of not being transparent on such deals. I ALWAYS mention if a review is sponsored or not.. and this wasn't a review - just an announcement that we had a new Alliance Vendor.

OK... so is this vendor "sponsored" by GJ or not? Are they "banned" from the site or what?

Either way, why should we care?

They support TGJ and the Alliance as of last week.

And why should you care? I guess if you enjoy the site you should appreciate their efforts as they are helping me make a living by keeping this place afloat... :)

i don't think i accused anyone of anything. i simply knew the back story and that was this stedlin guy was banned and is now back as an alliance member. as a matter of transparency i reported member "deborah" now that you explained the front story it makes more sense.

until you explained it, it didn't make any sense. and that is why i simply said hmmmm.......

it still begs the question though. can any banned member return if they become an alliance member or sight sponsor?

i can't and won't blame you for wanting to make a buck but you have to admit it is a rather strange turn events and not something that has happened before to the best of my knowledge.

I'm not aware of anyone being banned from Stedlin.

I know I deleted multiple posts from Deborah before we communicated. Once we got together and got straight, we changed her username to Stedlin.

But to your question. Can someone buy themselves back on the forum? I dunno... that's not something I've ever dealt with really. I can't imagine a circumstance where anyone would offer or where I'd take them up on it.

This deal was simply a complete failure of a communication system that was later fixed. Once Stedlin knew the rules of the forum, they were all about doing it the right way. And obviously, I'm super grateful.

So a mod just told me an earlier Stedlin account was banned. But regardless, they are doing it right now. All good in my hood.

maybe this explains to you why it seemed strange. i can't think of a banned member who wants to come back but does this mean if they "do it right now" it is all good and will be welcomed back.

it seems odd to me that a small operation like stedlin has the head honcho who represents the company tossed from a board and then somehow an employee joins to rep the company and it's all good.

i know you don't have to check in with your mods but it seems like maybe you should have. i am about as out of the loop as anyone and i knew someone from the stedlin co. had been banned for being troublesome.

if nothing else. interesting conversation.

This added context certainly helps me understand why you were confused. I honestly thought you were being critical for the sake of it before...

Like I said, it's all good now because they have agreed to do it the right way. And, they are supporting the joint.

I think you are suggesting that I turn down revenue due to what looks to me like a mis-understanding. The original Stedlin account was doing the same thing Deborah was - posting their own deals in the "hot deals" section and not responding to requests to stop. I'm guessing the email issues started then and weren't recognized until Deborah and I got together finally.

Regardless, I am confident they weren't/aren't trying to do anything nefarious. They are just trying to market their offerings and didn't know the rules originally.

You? Out of the loop? You are in the top 1% of time on the forum and you have damn near 5,000 posts. Hell, you should be a moderator at this point!

ouch...... almost spit my coffee out. i will take it as a compliment though. i know a can be an opinionated cuss, my wife tells me all the time.

giving you **** may be 100 percent accurate but i like the pc version that i may offer you another view or insight. either from a members point of view or even from a region of the country many may not know much about. you may not always (rarely) like what i sat but i hope you think i am honest and fair.

I hit the jackpot, so I decided to get the inserts. I've got one on every hose I own. They work as advertised. Pop the coupler and the, normally thrashing, male end just drops on the floor, mildly hissing.
If you're not an alliance member, which I am not, Crapazon gets you a buck off the Stedlin store price, each. It's still sticker shock, but no longer getting snapped by an accidentally uncoupling hose will be a blessing.
