An American watch company makes and markets a 100% American made screwdriver set. I’ve got screwdrivers coming out the whazzoo, but if I didn’t I’d own these. I absolutely love the nod to tradition by way of the handle shape and the black oxide finish is rad as well.

Also, their watches are made by Fossil, not produced in Detroit. Cool looking stuff, but not 100% accurate advertising.

They are not owned by Fossil. A co-founder of Fossil started the company with a Texas backer - Bedrock.

The watches are assembled in Detroit. However, movements come from Ronda - a swiss company.

My daily watch for weekends when I'm not getting that dirty. I thinks it's a Brakeman model in flat black. I wanted one with a blue face but the didn't offer that color combo with a band big enough for my enormous wrists:lol_hitti

I had to explain what that meant when my wife found this bottle down in the basement of our farmhouse.....

It was all dried up so I have no idea what ox-blood colored shoes looked like.

Interesting read. As someone who works for a company that does manufacture product in the US and competes against inported products, and companies that bring in sub assemblies from ever seas to do final fabrication on, I find the differentiation important.

Hmm. From the article:
  • Runwell with 1069: Each movement is made of 40 pieces from Switzerland assembled in Detroit, then 21 extra pieces (including the casing and glass from China) to make the watch.
  • Runwell Chrono Sport with 5050.B: Each movement is made of 103 Swiss pieces, which are assembled in Detroit and another 21 extra pieces (including the casing and glass from China) to make the watch.

That's a shame. I was considering one of their $900 quartz models because I could get it free as an anniversary gift from my employer. Good thing I saw this first, now I can pick something else to celebrate how many years I've flushed (I mean..er.. enjoyed) there. I despise deceptive marketing about COO. :sad:

The more I look into Shinola the more I see a white night, made in the USA with foreign components marketing firm. Nice stuff but they are trying to market themselves like Weather Tech does, with half the follow through.

Seems the kids are into Shinola watches. Bought my daughter one for Chritmas. I like all watches, but I'm more biased to hublot, Panerai, UN than anything else. I do love gshocks. Have way too many.

I wore a watch for about 6 months of my life. I got a tattoo on my wrist so I don't wear watches anymore. In six months I went through three watches. The tattoo is looking good about a year later. Mom doesn't like it but then again she thinks that drinking more than one night a week is terribly bad for you too.

Seems like "Best Made", they take a quality product, put their mark on it, and mark the price way up. Although it does seem like they are a bit more involved in some of their products.

Sorry, these screwdrivers don't have an Apple logo on them, therefore they are inferior. That's how marketing works.

Makes me wonder what an Apple branded tool box would look like.

I highly recommend Seiko and Citizen. Switzerland in general has some decent movements but Seiko (Japan in generally really) is better. My dream watch is a Grand Seiko Spring Drive, but I'm not sure I'll ever be able to spend that much on a watch.

Personally I have mostly Orient which are owned by Seiko but the movements aren't the same.

Some of the best overall quality/reliable quartz watches are Casio, but unfortunately they are ALL ugly.

I have the same screw drivers in a dark wood coloring and chrome, that are probably as old as I am (handed down from my dad).

I will have to take pictures tonight

Sounds like someone is betting on their customers not knowing **** from Shinola.

The Apple iToolbox will only allow you to store Apple-branded tools and tools with a license from Apple at double the price as the tools otherwise would be.
