Bus Grease Monkey

I seem to fall down YouTube rabbit holes on a regular basis… Most recently, I stumbled upon some guy that finds, repairs, and I guess sells old buses of all things. At first glance, this doesn’t seem all that interesting but if you let it play in the background while you work away on the computer, you’ll quickly get hooked. There’s just something about the adventure of traveling hundreds of miles to pick up, repair, and drive home a big ass buss that hasn’t been on the road in decades. See Comments on the forum.

Fuji Mini-Mite 3 Platinum

I like making stuff, but I’ve learned through the years that I don’t enjoy finishing stuff at all. Painting, sealing, staining, etc… it’s all laborious work that requires a kind of fastidious patience that I often don’t have when I’m just excited to be done with a project. Right now I’m working on a set of built-in cabinets for my wife. It’s the project that got me interested in learning woodworking really… and I’m just now getting to it. Essentially, it’s a bluetooth module that you add to your Festool dust collector – allowing you to control the unit from the end of the extraction hose. Seems a bit ridiculous in principle, no? I got one for Christmas actually and can tell you this – in practice, this thing is worth every damned penny. Here’s my use case: I’m using my sander hooked up to the dust collector. (Obviously, when I turn on the sander, the dust extractor turns on as well.) I’ve finished sanding the …

Bosch 1591 Jigsaw

So I bought a 1591 around 10 years ago and the damned thing has been an absolute work horse. It has great guides, decent power, and the barrel grip feels perfect in the hands. In my opinion (and many others), it’s the one of the best jigsaws ever made… It’s a classic. Anyway, it’s a long story but I ran over my 1591 with my truck a few months back…. The result was a functional jigsaw with a cracked case. And, of course, Bosch has discontinued the 1591. The top of the line replacement for the 1591 has been reviewed …
