Picked this up this morning for $10. Never made fresh butter before, so I figured why not.

Interesting. Somewhere around second grade, I vaguely recall putting heavy cream into an empty baby food jar, shaking it, and eventually making butter (this was in school, BTW). Of course, that was something like 45 years ago, so I'm probably missing some part of the recipe there...

That was an earlier picture. Here is the current batch with the duplicates circled.

Wow, you could almost make a chess set out of those!

Eagle eye Roger is correct. 👍I need to find a few different ones. 😳

Oh no, now you're moving them around in an otherwise identical pic??? My head is spinning!

Not a garage sale, but a consignment auction. Got the MiniMax 6 chainsaw and case for $5.
Got it home, added gas and a new spark plug, had it running in short order.

...and YOU ****!!!

4 gedore AF sockets 5/16, 11/32, 13/32, 9/16.
Plomb 5/8 WF-31
Kent pattern hatchet head, no makers name visible.
Stanley blade holder.
7 Gedore metric, 9, 10, 14, 15, 16, 19, & 20
Stahwille 12 spanner
Rabone chesterman measure, no spring pressure, so not sure I will get this back into action.

Decent enough little haul this month.

Your recipe is not missing any parts; that’s exactly what unsalted butter is, and has been, for eleven thousand years or more (though glass baby food jars are from less than four thousand years ago).
Sometimes the consequence of a moment of distraction when intending to make whipped cream.

On Saturday, I took a trip to various sales, Restores and thrift shops. Here are my finds:
52711818444_0fb6928c5d_c.jpg
First stop was a VFW post having a sale, where I picked up a set of number stamps in a cool old holder, box of Nicholson chainsaw files, Proto long handle, and Tru-test breaker.

52712035103_ec63876bf7_c.jpg
Next stop was my favorite used tool dealer, where I picked up the Stanley dowl guide set in box and the Stanley 130 double ended plane. Next up was a sale that I found the Goodell Pratt chain drill at.

I swung by a Restore and picked up a spot light bulb (not pictured) and then I found an ERB first at a thrift store.

A stop at an estate sale yielded a rawhide mallet, long reach driver, and Goodell Pratt spiral driver. And then it was off to a garage clear out, where I found a Proto puller set at a price that I can resell for and recoup all that I spent this morning:

A good day.

It seems we have similar taste in tools and books. Great finds! Quite a few things that I would certainly have picked up, also those planes from earlier too.

Late getting home from Philly, where I picked (Lugz 2023_08), with Mrs Lugz, at her mom's house, which is still full of Marie's Junque Shop stuff. I left her upstairs in that menagerie and went through the basement and sheds.

And...I'm going back for this, with one of my sons, my brother, and one of his sons. I could barely get one corner off the floor. Easily a 4 man lift just to get it in the truck. We're planning to use it as a rolling liquor cabinet in the parlor. Super excited about this!

The latest haul...3Baby!

Well, her mom gets the credit, though she looks just like I do in old photos.

You guys must take your liquor seriously if you need a safe to hold it 😜👍

If that “rolling liquor cabinet” starts rolling, don’t get in its way

Wow, that's cool! You ****!!!

Is that box inside a separate item, or was that part of the safe originally?

I cleared the rust off the “unmarked” items, discovering the 4oz claw hammer is an E.C.Simmons “Oak Leaf” and the dikes (which I bought for the mystery of the sort-of “nested diamonds meets arrow fletching” grip pattern are 6113 Sheffield England. The Plomb extension is a WF19.870A571A-1360-4166-AEB5-8C159AB74E83.jpegBD34386A-89C5-412B-91F7-D0C491FB3256.jpeg

EDIT - found a second pair of the mystery dikes, on which GLOBEMASTER is stamped above England.

Hahaha. Seriously, it does roll well once you get it going. It's going to look so cool in our house (built in 1893!) once it's cleaned up with an antique serving tray on top with a few bottles and vintage glasses. Can't wait to go back and get it.

That's built in. Only one of the drawers is still there, though.

I did also find a Whatzit. It was coated with rust and stubborn mud in a box with old (1860's) clothing irons. Giving this thread first crack at it. My first thought was antique rocketry, almost like a flechette, but it's soft, porous metal. Malleable iron if I had to guess. Next thought was a stake of some kind, but for what, I don't know. That slot-head brass plug will not budge. I chewed it up a little trying.

Lugz, I'm thinking cheap wrought (rot...) iron fence finials, for the early cheap "Tubing" fences and gates and you pound the tubing flrst to fit. :dunno:

these came from my buddy's garage, not a sale :)
I am curious about the Hunter screwdrivers, if anyone has info let me know!
I don't know much about the Hunter drivers, but the Xcelite RP102 is one that is one you don't see too often. The RPXXX series is Reed-Prince as opposed to a standard Phillips. I wouldn't go so far as to call it "rare", but it's not a common one to find.

That looks a lot like the (cheap plastic) stake tips on things like lighted candy cane lawn decorations.
