Took a tire to the shop I bought it from because it had picked up a nail. The shop refused to fix the tire because they had tried to sell my son tires for this same car and they said it has weather checks.

I told them that I will take the tire to a shop on Main Street in Chula Vista that will fix it. I generally can bypass many peoples concerns by dealing in Spanish with folks who are not so restricted by unwritten policies.
@nadogail, the tires on the Corvette were balanced when they were new in 2007 but Tire Kingdom used clip-on weights that caused one of the tires to leak when the weight was closest to the ground. Called to have them re-balance the tires with stick-on weights years later and without seeing the tires they refused because of the tires' age.

Took the tires to a no-brand-name tire shop (they may be recent immigrants) and they were happy to do the job for half what Tire Kingdom charges. The TK store is walking distance from my house but may as well be on the moon. I believe their motto is "If you don't have to come back for a do-over, we screwed up."

my son and I have been unpacking and inspecting a shipment of New Age Cabinets we waited 6 months to receive. When they arrived the other day one of the palets had tipped over and the cartons were strewned all over in the back of the truck. So far the damage is pretty minimal fortunately. Should finish up tomorrow and then work it out with New Age.

Long day working then a badly needed nap - Then I got the last speaker wire pulled and the hole in the wall opened for the bigger box. Tomorrow I'll get the wire into the new big box and the speaker and network wire to their respective posts and socket connector.

Spent a lot of time on the computer researching a new addition to the fleet.
The oldest (turns 20 this month) finally bought his own car - and it's a 2014 Honda CRV with 98K miles. Not a bad little car after some research.
Now - I seem to recall hearing that Honda quality has gone downhill somewhere and I don't recall where..... but hopefully it was made before that happened.
But it looks like it's got a good chance to be with him for a long time without me constantly working on it. I've never owned a Honda so this will be new to me.
A startling new thing I learned is that the valves have to be adjusted. It's a 2014 - Honda didn't know about hydraulic lifters then? Not a huge deal as it seems like a simple procedure but I honestly had no idea that those engines even existed anymore.

More work in Fusion 360 building custom socket trays. I don't use these that often, so I don't mind them being a little - unorthodox if it all fits in one drawer of my US General 36" cabinet.

USA made Craftsman 12 point sockets, and Proto impact. The Proto are up to 1 1/2" and 36mm. Way more than I expect I'll need. I still need to make custom tray for the SAE Craftsman so I can add in another row.

Not in my garage, per se, but in boathouse at the lake. Arranged for a mobile marine service to come and do fluid changes on ski boat, party barge and 2 ski doos. When they left, I noticed they had not lifted the watercraft to the level I normally store them. Started lifting the ski boat and BOOM!!! the aft starboard cable snapped, dropping the boat into the water from about 2’ above the level of the dock, so probably 3’-4’ in total drop. Of course, the bilge plug was out, so it started to sink. Was able to peel back the cover enough to get on the boat and put the bilge plug back in. Then had to retrieve trailer that hasn’t been used in several years. Almost headed to ramp without checking air pressure - that would have been a nightmare as all 4 tires had less than 20 psi!! There doesn’t appear to be any significant damage to boat or dock, so guessing I got lucky on this one. It did rip the **** out of the mooring cover when it hit the water, so ordered a new cover last night. The lift guy is coming Monday to R&R the lift - guess I’ll have him take a good look at the cables on the party barge lift too.
No one was hurt, no apparent damage, so I guess I got off lucky this time.

Cut up all the cardboard that has accumulated over the last month or so & took it to the dump for recycling. Mixed up some paint to put a second coat of white paint in the new shed, mixed up the gas/oil mix for the new weed eater.

Google CRV VVT ...

similar thing happened with my daughters 2014 CRV at 75k miles. The dealership fixed/rebuilt the top end of the engine. They tried to blame it on lack of oil changes. She had always had the oil changed by that dealer and had all the receipts. They ended up fixing it for free.

How about in the driveway? Pressure wash, bottom paint, wash & wax...not getting any easier to crawl around under the trailer! But worth it as it makes our summer here in RI. Still have some mechanical/outboard things to tend to, but the messy part is done:

Even my 07 Explorer with a 4.6L has VVT - it would be hard to find an engine without it these days. And yes - since it works off of oil pressure then the solenoid is very sensitive to clean oil / ie oil pressure. As are most of the timing components like the tensioners.
I'm not seeing a issue on a search - how did it result in a top end rebuild?

Made a bar to hang spray bottles near the workbench.

Also picked up some wall mounted baskets for 50% off at Hobby Lobby for the wife to put garden gloves and bug spray in. I had to cut off the decorative handle above the mounts.

Also got tired of welding and work gloves piled up around the shop, so I tacked a couple of flat washers on the back of an office basket and screwed it to the wall behind the welding machine.

Jealous of all the lifts in this place. It seems so civilized.

There's only one and it's mine. That's why it looks civilized. It's never busy lol

This is my work/business where I do personal stuff. I have the equivalent of a 2.5 car there. I don't have a garage at home.

Yesterday I finally got the grommet for my PCV valve on my free Camry that I got. I replaced the PCV valve, grommet, hose and the hose from the throttle body to the valve cover which all were brittle and broke when I took the valve cover off to change the valve cover gasket. So far it’s doing good. Still haven’t figured out the reverse issue yet. It has no reverse but has all the other gears. I’m not a transmission guy when it comes to imports. It’s an automatic and I haven’t ever needed to fix anything like that. We tried pushing it in neutral but it rolls forward in neutral. Hit our other car lol 😂. No damage though I did have to take the the license plate off and tap it to get the small bend out of it. My plates all have to be perfect. Dad was in the driver seat and me and mom were pushing but I couldn’t push it with him in there we should not have picked the heaviest person to drive lol. My leg got pinned between the car and our van that it hit when it lunged fowards I was screaming cause it hurt. Dad let off the brake in neutral and it took off. And it’s on a flat surface. Luckily I’m ok. We were trying to push it backwards so I can drop the transmission pan and look around and it needs the fluid changed anyway. Is anyone here a Toyota transmission expert? All the guys at work told me it’s old and they don’t want to work on it lol. I’ve only ever messed with Ford and Chevy transmissions and a few Subaru ones. My car won’t do anything at all in reverse it has to be in a forward gear to get it to roll backwards by pushing.

it had been making allot of noise for quite sometime, the service department said "they all do that". hen one day it lost power...

I didnt realize by reading your post you knew what kind of issue you had. I thought you were asking?

Today I laid out all the garden tools we have & I cut a piece of pine board (& painted it) to attach to the shed wall studs so I could hang all the small garden tools from it. I also made a shelf for some oil for the ZTR mower & oil for the weed eater & painted that one too.
