I'm starting this thread to keep all my small house and garage projects in one place.

Today's task. Install side tray on HF cart.

I brokedown and got a Black Friday roller cart last month.

IMG20221121171112.jpg

Slowly but surely I've been putting upgrades to it as they've become available.

IMG20221222133930.jpg

Miracle of miracles the side tray finally showed up as available at my local HF.
IMG20221223160243.jpg

Nicely made and the powder coat is good. 4 bolts changed out and it was back in business.

I wanted some magnetic storage for the lid but I didn't want to drill it or put strong adhesive on.

Some GJ'er recommended doubling them up. So I did and it turned out great!

The mounting holes took M5 x 10 bolts with plenty of room for clearance.

Today was some cleaning and organizing.

IMG20221226111728.jpg

IMG20221226174110.jpg

Cut and hung a wire shelf. Cut up and organized some scrap osb that was on the floor.

IMG20221226120705.jpg

IMG20221226120716.jpg

Decided to patch holes from previous shelving and removing old adhesive off the wall.

While patching one wall I decided to re-anchor my laundry rack.

IMG20221226140151.jpg

I ended up have to scrounge a larger bit out of the garage sale bag but she's nice and tight now.

Today's project is to start working in this quadrant of the garage.

IMG20221226101042.jpg

I've been collecting garage sale Hon office furniture to help with the tool storage and garage cleanliness.

Desk breakdown.

My patching from yesterday seems to blend in with the texture of the wall.

I'm going to try to match up all the storage in Ace Hardware Sage. I'd like it nice but not looking for perfection.

Desk painting went well but tiresome.
I did find an old can of Rust-Oleum hammered in Chestnut so that's the leg color for now.

Truck bed liner on the desktop and rolling cabinet came out ok-ish.

I've got a spot along the edge to redo. I'm not sure if it was bad prep or curing in the sunshine that did it.

My next storage item to tackle is a overhead tote rack above the garage door.

IMG20230113162941.jpg

Some all thread and unistrut should do the job.

IMG20230113162144.jpg

Amazon warehouse had the anchors and adapter pretty cheap.

IMG20230113162152.jpg

The weather is cooler this weekend so it won't be so hot in the attic and I'll put in the c wire adapter while I've got all the ladders out.

Wow - missed this thread when it started!

Nice job painting your cabinets the same color - my garage/shop/basement storage looks like a "rainbow coalition" in comparison.

I was interested in your C-Wire adaptor as I don't have enough wires from furnace to thermostat. I think it might be easier for me just to run a new T-stat wire instead of using the adapter.

Please keep posting your update.

Cheers

Thanks Jim!

I too come from the land of mismatched storage. A few years ago I promised myself to clean up my act and get my stuff less embarrassing to look at.

This thread has helped with keeping me make progress.

I'll make sure to get snaps of the air handler wiring as I go.

Welp, I've managed to ignore my own thread for three months.

Today I fixed the variable speed for my garage sale Vitamix.

IMG20230506081817.jpg

New Potentiometer from Amazon.

IMG20230506084005.jpg

Disassemblely was 4 Phillips screws and some yanking.

IMG20230506084331.jpg

I rehab a lot of KitchenAid mixers and these are just as repairable if not better.

IMG20230506090610.jpgThe replacement"nut" was hot garbage that I refused to look at and reused the original.

Yesterday, I finished the thrift store Vitamix by installing a new power cord.

IMG20230512172918.jpg

The old cord looks like a puppy or cat enjoyed chewing on it.

Nothing complicated but the strain relief was fussy.

IMG20230513164329.jpg

And she's ready for blending!

My garage sale plane got washed and put in evaporust for later this week.

I'm liking the Evaporust but think I prefer the plain old e-tank just for price alone.

Since you like the Sage green look I'll post a couple pics of one of my very favorite Garage Journal garages.

His isn't "sage" color (I forget the color but remember it was Valspar paint). He sold this house and I haven't seen him back on the forum but I suspect he will be at some point. Hope you enjoy:

Wow! I'm really digging the island and desk. Well, all of it actually. I'm doing something similar to my basement shop with garage sale finds.

IMG20220921144407.jpg

I've got the desks on dollies but I'm thinking of dropping them when I find a decent top to make it more permanent this summer.

Great idea for your thread. I like having everything on wheels if you have to sweep it need them or pull them out looking for that one part or fastener that bounced 138 times off the workbench.

I'm totally lazy by nature, so I have to give myself no excuses for not cleaning.

I can do the whole garage floor with five extra minutes of rolling stuff around and it makes cleaning way more enjoyable.

One of my wants for the garage, is a medium duty workbench that can move.

I'm looking for a big *** piano hinge and doing a diy. Or getting a large roller base and nice top for it.

The garage sale stereos came out well.

IMG20230520073758.jpg

The refoam kit form Amazon worked as advertised. I cracked the other trim ring and ended up JB welding it back together.

I found about 30' of speaker wire for 3 bucks at a thrift shop and ordered some plugs off Amazon.

IMG20230520122101.jpg

I don't know what that cost originally but Monster was always a running joke of overpriced wire. I rigged up a fm antenna and got Back in Black as the first test tune.

IMG20230520131652.jpg

They work for my old ears so I'm good with the speakers.

Sorry for the late reply. I don't know what I did to the HVAC gods but I played hell trying to get that adapter working without joy.

IMG20230215112504.jpg

IMG20230329102257.jpg

This is the Carrier air handler control board and it's original wiring and t-stat.

The blue, red and white on the bottom are the auxiliary heaters and the rest are to the thermostat.

After 2 hours I gave up and ordered 50' of 18/8 and rewired the controller and auxiliary heaters.

IMG20230508174015.jpg

I think it was worth it, I just wished I hadn't messed with the adapters.

You must be a brother from another mother to me . . .

I have a smaller pair of "curbside shopping" Infinity bookshelf speakers. I bought the foam kit but I haven't mustered the courage to attempt the re-foaming. It doesn't seem all that difficult but it's a new procedure to me. I find several pairs of speakers a year in various states of repair so knowing how to re-foam woofers seems a useful skill to have.

My ears are not calibrated well enough to hear the difference using Monster cables versus Amazon Basics 16 gauge speaker cable. The "last mile" of wire inside of the speakers that I have opened is normally very small cable (around 18 gauge). I opened up a pair of Cerwin Vega's to reset the positive speaker wire on the woofer and it was a tiny wire for "350 watt" speakers.

It took me a little while to think of the proper song to do a test run on some 1985 CV's - I actually can't remember the song I picked but Mrs No_Garage said it sounded good upstairs!

Cheers

Brothers indeed!

I suggest you dive in. I was hesitant because I have ape hands and worried I'd crease the cones or something else delicate.

Removing the old rubber adhesive was the worst part. Wear nitrile gloves and have a plan for the old foam and glue mix which sticks to everything, I didn't for the first one and made a mess that was avoidable. I cruised through the second one with confidence. Isopropyl worked well for the cleanup.

I keep an eye out for nicer speakers and amps but it's a garage sale, not audiophile, budget for me.

I really should update this thread more but life and exterior work on Casa North is kicking my ****.

My old screen door saw its last winter and got an upgrade.

IMG20230722102701.jpg

IMG20230722102653.jpg

I reversed the hinge so no more unexpected yank-aways from the wind.

IMG20230722165627.jpg

I even followed the directions!

Beam replacement on the front porch is coming along but everything about it is dicey. Awkward ladder placements, the roof making odd noises, pestered by wasps etc...

IMG20230729175219.jpg

IMG20230729170202.jpg

If all goes well, I'll salvage enough 4x6 to make wood storage racks for the back of the barn.

Beam replacements and deck repairs for me today.

Three down, one to go. Then its on to some much needed masonry work. Summer is flying by and I've yet to stick the dock or boat in the water but I feel better with the house work going well.

I've been pulling apart my basement workshop in a never-ending quest to make it more enjoyable. I've had these Craftsman benches on the opposite side of my workbench.

IMG20220921144407.jpg

I ended up raising my bench and sticking the underneath.

IMG20230810195426.jpg

This is a small shop and it frees up almost a whole wall.

This morning was spent in the barn going after neglected projects and overdue maintenance.

IMG20230820125636.jpg

I finally managed to get the chuck off my Craftsman DP and I'll hopefully do a restore on it this summer.

IMG20230820131630.jpg

I got the pontoon uncovered , trailer tires aired up and hopefully putting it in the water for a few weeks.

The drill press break-down is coming along. Quill is out.

The head was difficult getting off.

The table and counterweight.

IMG20230822163439.jpg

The base is stuck on good. I've got it drenched in Blaster and hoping to unstick it in the morning.
