"Flex Flinging", as I call it is, prohibited. (I guess you didn't read the rest of the thread)
With me being the rebel that I am, not caring about following what I consider "stupid" codes, wanting to complete the job and get paid in the most time efficient manner possible, and doing 90+% of my work as a service contractor working in occupied buildings, I usually measure my flex then string it out in the parking lot and pull the conductors in. Then I roll it up and carry it to where it gets installed. Beats the **** out of installing the flex then dragging in all the spools of wire, then fighting the fishtape through while trying to keep my mouth shut about how much this ***** and offending someone. I figure it's not much different than MC cable at that point.

I have also many times left the risers off of both ends of an underground feed until the conductors are in. It makes it a helluva lot easier to both feed and pull when by yourself.

Why does code forbid pulling wires in half assembled flex?

I get the potential issues in PVC, not sure I understand here

AFAIK, code just says that conduit runs must be complete and doesnt distinguish type

Risk of pinching wires would be my main guess

There is an easy cure to flex flinging that most everybody knows of already, that's widely available.
It's called MC cable.
That's true. But...if I need 75' of 10/2, 10/3, 12/3, etc., MC cable but don't have it, but do have a 100' roll of 1/2" FMC and partial rolls of #10 THHN, at today's prices, I'm making my own. I do keep 12/2 MC on hand, but unlike a home gamer, I will use it up sooner than later.

It sounds like you need to look at revising your pricing to reflect today's prices;)
I've revised plenty of times. That doesn't change the fact that I can be a cheap skate. It's hard to justify the expense of a 250' coil of MC cable (other than 12/2) when all I need is 75'. Especially when I have FMC, wire, and fittings that are already paid for sitting in the van. I just took a quick look in the shop. I have less than half a roll each of 14/2, 12/3, 10/3, and 25' of 6/3 just sitting there,. I needed enough of each of those to justify buying the coil when I did, but since then, they just sit there. I will use them eventually, but who knows when that will be. If I know I'm going to need one of them I will be sure to grab it. If it's a surprise job or I forget, and I need less than 100', I'm making my own. Not only is it more profitable, but I won't have the time wasted going to the supply house
