UPDATE: I pulled the trigger on the USA Tekton screwdrivers, some Capri 3/8 and 1/4 inch ratchets and tekton sockets. They arrived 2 days ago and I couldn’t be happier! Seems like good quality stuff that should last a bit for what I need them for. Also, I found a Snap-On FLL80 3/8” ratchet for 35 bucks at some old thrift shop ( guess they didn’t know what they had). I really don’t need it, so what do y’all think it’s worth?

Good tools. I really like the Tekton screwdrivers, both hard handle and comfort grip.

The FLL80 is $180 new from Snap-On. If it looks good, I'm sure its would fetch $100 or so to someone that needs it. It's generally not an everyday use ratchet.

Absolutely! I got the hard handle just so I could clean grease off easy haha. And wow, that’s awesome. I really don’t have a use for it but good to know they it could fetch some decent money.

Since it only cost $35, I would just keep it around. There are times when working on cars that you need access, and the 18" 3/8 ratchet can help with that. I have an 18" Tekton 3/8 ratchet that was used recently for belt tensioner bolts.

I just bought the complete SAE and metric sets of Tekton 30*/60* open end angle wrenches. I was REALLY shocked to see the extremely high quality of these wrenches. I will definitely look to Tekton for future items needed.
I did however, just a few minutes ago, receive the complete set of Capri stubby and semi-deep impact sockets. The semi-deep look a little thin on the wall, but hopefully their warranty is good. The stubby's look good.

Darn it, I was just sitting here minding my own business when I came across this thread.

Next thing I know I order a set of their composite ratchets.

Those 30/60 are stamped not forged. Hopefully they hold up for you

No experience with Capri, but I have quite a bit of Tekton tools from Runnings and they're quite good. Maybe not Snap-On lever, but certainly right with Kobalt, Gearwrench, etc.

Just bought (and used) a Tekton 1/2 inch 12mm 6 pt socket and Capri 12x14 deep offset box end, my first tools from either brand, so far so good.

Hey ladies and gents, I’m super new here, so what’s up to everyone!

I have been debating back and forth between tool brands. I’m more of a home garage guy and by no means a professional mechanic. I own a couple tool truck items like sockets from snap on and a set of flex head ratcheting wrenches from matco. I have been looking at buying a big lot of tekton and Capri tools but idk how the quality would compare to snap on and such. Has anyone had any long term experience with either? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

No experience with either brand in Europe (but I like the look of Tekton and the reward scheme is a good idea).

Before you commit to a "one stop shop" though look at some similar GJ threads, there are a whole lot of "Professional" brands specializing in categories of tools that might offer even better value for money in the long run.

Vessel screwdrivers

Koken sockets

Knipex pliers

Stahlwille wrenches

These are all GJ "approved" brands and with some careful shopping available at good prices, don't sweat the warranty (you won't be needing it).

Tekton 💯 Quality, price, & no better warranty in the biz!
I don't get why people say this. Their warranty is the exact same as just about every mid tier tool brand out there. Capri, Tekton, GW, etc. Just send a picture and sometimes a copy of a receipt (I've been asked but never required, such as a gift) and they send you a new one.

Thats good to know they do the same. I have experienced it from Tekton. Sent them a pic and they mailed me a new one. No receipt necessary

No use for an FLL80? Something’s wrong with this picture. It’s the worlds best serpentine belt tool.

When people talk about tool brands:
1) Companies like HF, Sunex, etc aren’t manufacturers, so quality is subject to change and well documented here. Not sure where the confidence in these distributors‘ products comes from. Great that you got lucky. Congrats. Buyer beware.

2) The 6 and 12pt sockets in my 56” long socket drawer make up about 1/4 of the drawer space. Sockets are not expensive. They are also only one small part of a toolset.

We seem to equate ”tools” with 6 pt sockets. 6pt sockets are a very small part of my basic automotive tool kit in terms of storage space and money spent.

I also would ignore warrantees on 6pt sockets. If you break a socket you should either:
a) find a new activity you are better suited for
or
b) buy a better brand of sockets.

Exception: if you are a pro mechanic like @2ndGearRubber and you break stuff, that’s part of the job and part of the justification of truck tools.

Not stamped. Laser cut and CNC machined.

To everybody, they have some new info on their angle wrenches:

Yes, I saw that and called them. Instead of the solid chrome, like a Snap-on, I believe the new ones will look like the original Craftsman, Pittsburg type look. That's why I bought every size available in MM, and every size I didn't already have in Snap-on SAE. I doubt I will ever break one. I will come to that disappointing replacement bridge if/when it happens. These wrenches are solid high quality.
I would also like to add that I spoke with Taylor, from Tekton, and he was outstanding to deal with, kudos to him. They didn't have a full set, so I bought individuals and he gave me a great discount/credit towards them. I am very satisfied with my entire Tekton experience so far.

Wait are you saying tekton is the same level as kobalt?
