I'm not gonna' hold my breath on his equipment prices dropping anytime soon. I couldn't find the house even listed yet, in a quick real estate search. (his Facebook listing locations vary from Davidsonville to Frederick, so I'm not completely sure he lives down the road from me) I'd like to get a look at the lumber at least, so I can let you know what I find out (although it will probably be next month before I get over there).

You could probably get that 24" l power for 5-600 as a conciliation.. think of all the fun you could have with it 😉

Sun shades have made my deck usable in the summer, your friend is right (especially for this week). Enjoy!

The section with the bare wood railing is getting screened / enclosed with a gable roof and a knee wall where the railing is. I just haven't got around to building it yet.

It was all planned out a while ago

you have just made my day. I do long term phased construction on my house like this and my wife thinks I am crazy. I hate taking apart my work and why do it if you can plan appropriately? Love this

Lol most of my projects end up as multi part/long term (to the irritation of my wife). I had the deck staked out the month we moved in (2016) it took a few years and changes to get where we are now, with more left to go.

The fridge and dishwasher are both double drawers
Thanks ,

I assume the dishwasher is a FIsher-Paykel(are you happy with it, reviews seem middle of the road). What brand is the fridge, looking at doing something similar but on the seating side of the island.

Yes its a fisher & paykel dishwasher. No issues seems good. The interface being buttons and beeps only can cause some irritation. The beverage fridge is a kitchen aid. The panel attachment on the fridge is a poor afterthought if that matters.

Dumb day to do this, but if I get a couple years of not having to pay for a in ground pool it's worth it. I just wish I was in it and not digging a hole for it. 20240630_124101.jpg20240630_141714.jpg20240630_141639.jpg20240630_112632.jpg
Saw those at Walmart today!

We have the leveled yard scar from past above ground pool wife had to have. I feel your pain.

PM me if you need the name of company that filled my wife’s pool.

That tool too long, and apparently I can't measure. I ended up with a 21' diameter flat spot instead of a 22' diameter flat spot. At least yesterday was only 80 degrees. Screenshot_20240702_073001_Gallery.jpg

And it might be time to mow the front yard. The grass is still half dead but the weeds are doing well. I mowed the back a week and a half ago and managed to leave brown strips where the mower tires rolled across.

Same here. We've been watering like crazy and it didn't seem to make a dent. At least it finally rained here...

New pool area looks good -- that will be nice for the rest of the summer!

Old trick for compacting a circle..... You've probably seen or heard of it before.
Pound in a 1" diameter concrete grade stake in the center of your excavation, tie a rope to it.
The other end gets tied to the compactor at your max radius.
Fire up the compactor, it will slowly walk itself forward, winding the rope around the stake, reducing the diameter with each revolution.
Easy to keep an eye on it while you're doing other things.

We had a decent sized (30+) gathering Saturday which was part of reason for the last minute rush for the pool. I had scheduled the filling for Thursday afternoon and received a phone call at 6:15 am that said he was 30min out.

That would have been fine if I had installed the legs, so a mad dash to lift and install 22 legs ensued. The problem was 4 of them were defective. That took about 15 minutes to figure our and another 10 to try and find work around. 2 hours later I had 4 replacement legs from a pool at Walmart. So the pool sat empty until Saturday at 7:00am when the water delivery showed up.

Made for a brisk swim.20240706_093147.jpg20240706_073246.jpg20240706_095521.jpg

Since it was a party and I was feeding 30 some people i decided to branch out and try brisket and ribs. My typical go to has been pork should and chicken. Everything but the chicken disappeared, I might have to rethink the meat options next time.

Did all the work stop at the house after the party?

No new tools? Car still going?

😆 according to my wife all work stopped.

No new tools..

I did rebuild the planer which took longer than I expected
20240527_115844.jpg20240818_094505.jpg

and sold my powermatic planer this past weekend.
20240802_180027.jpg

Moved machines around and around and around both physically and in my head. I think I might have the layout down finally. Still need to clean up some more and organize what's left laying around.

This setup leaves Just enough room to crosscut the edge off a 4x8 sheet and rip 12'
20240826_212036.jpg20240827_205556.jpg

Also spent a week at the beach in NC,
20240722_133218.jpg20240725_094954.jpg
a weekend back home in Pennsylvania and found out that apparently one day I'm inheriting this donkey since he's a (relatively speaking) baby and my mom didn't realize how long they live..lol at least my wife likes him. 20240810_141504.jpg20240810_140533.jpg

And the car now has 8k on the new engine, everything seems to be holding up.

Ohhh we get a "Jar builds a donkey barn" thread.. Nice!

Like the layout... Any thoughts so far on the siding saw? Regretting it, regretting not buying earlier or still getting adjusted?

Lol no donkey barn any time soon.

I like the slider, no regrets so far. I probably should have gotten one sooner considering how I had my cabinet saw setup and used the sleds. I'm certainly still getting used to it and its quirks. I kept my pm66 (for now) because of that. It can't take a dado stack, not that I use one very frequently. Ripping is odd, or more correctly standing on the side feeding right to left feels odd.

The only downside is its not a super ridgid machine. I avoided a 10' slider because of space constraints but honestly it's minimal additional space compared whaylt i have now . I was on fb marketplace last night looking at a Casadei 10' slider. It's 2700lbs vs the 800 of my rojek. I can see a upgrade in the future.

I have a 12" machinist level coming to hopefully get the saw carriage setup a bit better than the previous owner left it. I'm not expecting perfect but I'd like to get it set as good as it can be.

I like how your shop is a shop. There's a few nicer cabinets or storage things you've built, but you seem to have focused more on building things than making a woodshop equivalent of a F1 garage. Obviously it works for you seeing all of the work you've cranked out.

I'm surprised you don't have a bigger dust collector. I think you said the jointer doesn't have a dust collection port but I imagine that thing and your planer must create an insane amount of chips and dust.

The dust collection is a issue. I know I need a good bit larger collector realistically.

With the new layout, if I move the tool cabinet and shaper I can fit a decent sized cyclone in the spot. The jointer has a 6" port under the cutterhead yoke.

This gets old..

Was that just from the jointer?

How many feet did you run through that?

What do you do with all that?

I know I ask way to many questions.

Yes that pile was just from the jointer. bdft wise not that much really, this was the stack of parts from that pile after jointing (and planing)

All the sawdust gets spread in the back corner of my property to keep the weeds down. Works well enough.

It sure does.
May I suggest putting the extraction unit out side in a cupboard with the ductwork through the wall, saving space in the shop.

Steve

To add. Maybe a three bag unit under the decking. 😉

I'd love to put in a outside unit, I don't think my wife will be on-board for one sticking out of the house though.

I just need to build a separate shop first.
