Went and dropped another $41 at the same estate sale I was at yesterday.

Utica and Diamond slip joints

Dividers are all USA or German made, including a couple Starretts.
Vaughan and Bushnell Hammer which is pretty neat
Klein tool pouches, one that needs some work/cleaning
Millers Falls coping saw sticking out of the one pouch.

Not a bad run between two days. Although again, the lady outside(different than yesterday) was not making deals like the lady inside. I spent $7 on the hammer and saw outside, $34 on everything else inside.

The front lip under the horn makes me think bottle opener???

Right off the bat the vendor was setting up and I spotted this Stove. Pretty sure it burns DNA - $5!




this is the only mark on it "Reform": CCS posting indicate German origin? Dates range fro 1904 to maybe 30's?



Also and interesting second find - a well-made knife made from a power hacksaw blade -$5 It has a decent edge too! and I like the guard and antler grip. Blade length is 6-3/4" with 5" of saw blade this one is getting a sheath and added to the Deer tools this saw should be perfect for the occasional bone.




A $2 aluminum box Seems a good size, I'll add a hasp, maybe a handle.



I could not walk away from thins one for $10: this was what I saw on the table and I had to pick it up to sort what it was:

Post FM was an Estate sale almost across the street - 3 straps and a game from my childhood - "Cootie" some pasrt are MIA, but I'm thinking just in time for Halloween? $5 all



And Last YS stop - A Steel slinky and a pack of Buck Brother's hacksaw blades, $1 all

Yep, Outlaw, the stove is alcohol. I had one just like it a while back--I think I gave it to CCF Deanofid.

The big hacksaw blade knife is cool! You don't see grips and guards like that on homemade/improv knives often. I wonder if they came off something with a broken/trash blade?

It's definitly growing on me. And yes a very nice execution on the grip! This may have been on another knife, or he may have cut the stag himself. The lady said they were her fathers, and he was into knives pretty big. She had a couple more and one was a re-haft of a double edge bread knife with a real two way saw type blade on top. Pretty beefy blade for a kitchen start.

I have a few Reform wrenches in Whitworth sizes.

I've already ID'd the source - it's German made in the first 30 or so years of the last century. Some were imported under other names. as well. Kind of a one heat boiler type stove. No way to adjust the heat.

It may be tied to some tool brand, but I kinda doubt it. Spun brass is a far cry from forging steel.

For many gallons of diesel these were my two trophies. An import clamp on vise with an anvil area behind the rear jaw. A small steel anvil, no marks. The front lip under the horn makes me think bottle opener???

I don’t see bottle opener? Would you hold the anvil upside down in your hand, or would it be bolted down?

The only sale listed on Craigslist was one we cleaned out last week. I had left behind an abused Craftsman two drawer box and an early DeWalt drill set. They were right where we left them so we picked them up plus a flannel shirt and tie-dye bag that my wife liked. I’m pretty sure that the previous owner was a Giants fan.

Stop by the swap meet not much going on but ended up buy a Dayton bottom box for 75.00
When loading it into the Pilot I heard a bunch of noise and knew there were some tools or **** behind the drawers… got it home pulled the bottom drawer ended up with a pile of miscellaneous including 11/16 snapon 2 proto 2 fleet a few craftsman’s air gauges and a pile of cheap wrenches

Not much to report this weekend. Went to my son’s soccer game and then we went to the gun and knife show. We hit a garage sale after the gun show and found this interesting wright 81853 wrench. I can’t find any info online about its cad plated so I’m thinking war time?

Also got this cool Mother Penn oil company merchandise voucher. It’s never been issued. Oil company is from Pennsylvania. Into the petrolina cabinet it goes!

and many tools were cad plated prior, during, and after the war. I think there may have been a design patent on the pattern, with licensing agreements, but not sure.

Here’s part of what my son and I got at the gun show. We were looking for ww2 militaria and this show didn’t have much. A few fire arms but not much in terms of field gear. I did find this vendor that had some third reich items. I don’t know much about TR stuff so I wanted to be careful and not spend much. Found this luftwaffe hat pin that has been denazified and this equipment tag. The eagle has a ******** under it’s feet that has been removed

I bought these two 1/4” ratchets at the flea market this morning. Took apart the t936 to regrease it and immediately shot the ball bearing across the shed. Somehow found it again and got it running smooth.

Here is my haul from yesterday, from a PAST tool sale in the hometown (again!) I was mostly there selling some stuff for a friend, but kept my eye out for things I needed, or just couldn't leave behind. The first find was an 18" monkey wrench, for $1. Guy just wanted it gone. I figured it was worth it just for a picture to post in the Oddfellows thread or if someone knows a better place, doesn't really seem that odd.. No ide the maker, yet. More in the Oddfellows when I get time to look at pix.



Next up was a serendipitous find. Guy across from me was winding down, he had just sold a single level vial to a guy who had bought a nifty level with a broken vial. (He had the same level for slightly more, intact). We got to chatting, and he sold me the remaining 7 vials for 4x the price of the solo.. Quite pleased, as I found another level in my stash needing a vial. Got some tips on how to replace them for max readability later. These are the Proved vials, about 1/4 the price of the Ground in the 1914 catalog

last top was practically giving stuff away, $5 all in, and that included 3 drivers and a pair of Milwaukee heavy duty diagonal 7 in 1 cutters my youngest daughter wanted.

Saturday, there were a few sales that looked interesting in the area, but only one of them had anything I found interesting:

US map pouch dated '49, small hammer handle, P&C spinner, Williams T-wrench, Smith and Wesson driver, and part of a level.

Today, as I had time to make a drive, there was a barn sale near "the city", and as I have been to their sales before and knew they were good, I made time to go. Here is what I found:

a box of vintage drive parts (Ray ratchet, Mossberg, Williams, Blackhawk sockets, + others), Millers Falls #1 (with points in the handle!), Hinsdale 1-1/4 combo, and a book:

They wanted good money for the MF drill, but as everything else was cheap, along with it being 1/2 price day, I was happy to pay it. So, $15 for all of that.

Ditto, I was AWOL for 11 days (on the water for 8 of them), finally catching up on this thread!

Lucked into the Honda K1 parts. Started with just the speedo and realized what bike it went to when I got home. Went back to the sale to find the tach and somebody had just bought all the parts for $100. I knew the guy and he said he just wanted the chrome parts for making into things. He had left behind the carbs, so I scooped those and the clutch cover for $20, and I bought the tach from him for $10. I then told him that he had more than just a pile of chrome and pieces. Some nice axes. Another block grinder and with the stand this time (I'm having quite a run of block grinders). For what it's worth, Anton Reiche (Germany) chocolate molds are considered to be the "Rolls Royce" of chocolate molds. In 1932 they had over 50 000 molds available. Oh, and I'm looking forward to the 500 rounds of fun.​

We went junkin' again today in a few more antique malls... I picked up a Cole Tools #7 drill attachment...



And a Reed-Craftsman 5180 vise...







And a rough Prentiss Bulldog no. 56 vise with a non-original handle and a badly broken slide...





The Prentiss might end up as a doorstop if I can't find a way to rebuild the slide... but it was cheap... so it came home with me.

Cleaned up enough to read “Pat Pend” on the ratchet adapter. So, a little more than 100 years old (patent granted 30Jan1923). The gummy grease inside is seems about the same age. I have it soaking in a solvent. The breaker has “Milwaukee USA” instead of “Made in USA.” I don’t see a date code.
I’ll finish cleaning these and pop them into my small SO collection.

Friday I went to some sales. The first was a garage sale with tools. I made a pile and got out the door for $60.00.

The wire was perhaps the biggest bargain. Not as good as ctuai's silver brazing rods, so he gets a big ****!

Put together a small pile at a local estate sale this morning. Brought it to the gentleman working the sale, who responded with "just take 'em." So for the grand price of free:

• Lisle scraper
• 5" Irwin Vise Grips
• 6" Milwaukee Impact Bit Holder
• 12" Irwin Clamp
• German Puma 6396 Original Bowie. Serial dates it to the third quarter of 1969. Sheath was cracked, moldy, and filthy, but the knife is literally new old stock. Still has the factory edge and original sticker noting the blade temper.

I have been looking for a 19" machinist chest so i can rotate a wooden unit from the basement to dresser top service in the MBR to hold my knife and pen/pencil collection.



Saw an ad on FBMP and messaged him today. I ran to his place at lunch. Picked up this Lumidor badged chest for $40 with a ton of Exelite nut drivers in the top tote. Looks/feels like a Waterloo unit.




Its in really nice shape and I can sell the nut drivers to pay for it.

$4 each for the 12” Plomb extensions and $1 each for the Snap-on and Plomb 5” extensions.

Good digging sale today with some keepers. The Norlund was between garage wall studs behind many planks of wood. The other tool guy was not happy when I yanked it out after 20 min of plank relocation. A cool egg timer I dont need but had to grab it.
$50 each on the tractor seat and Norlund and all totaled $157 I never thought I would find a NOS Norlund. The Kelly Perfect is in descent shape.

Grips & guard look like they came off a meat carving set, rerivited thru the hacksaw tang. Repurposing at its finest. No mater what, great finds!

Me too! I think some of the brass keeper hooks are upside down, since the hanger hole for the board is where it is... Even the socket tray has that piano hinge to keep them from falling out.

Dang silver brazing rods are expensive. The Red Wings are a nice set of boots. The Empire level has a hairline crack running between the grips. I wonder if I can make a warranty claim?​

Shout out to Empire levels. Small through hairline crack in the resin handle of my 48" 75th Anniversary Edition level. Warranty claims responds that they'll ship me the E75.48 series box level to my door. Wow! That's quite a warranty.

Saturday I had to run over to the post office and was led off route by a couple "garage sale" signs.

Craftsman 315.108340 7-1/4" circular saw in case w/owners manual dated 1997. Perfect. She said "I think it was only used once." $10 bucks.
Grabbed the screwdriver for a guy I heard collects this brand of stuff.

Midweek sales are seemingly becoming more common here. Noticed some signs on the way back from lunch and made a quick stop.

All tools were $1/each. From top to bottom:
Craftsman Pliers, Parker Pencil, Boker Shears, Lenox Cut Co N.Y. Scissors, Crescent Cutters, Stanley 299 Utility Knife, Crescent Chisel, Craftsman Hacksaw.



I haven’t been able to find out much on the Lenox Scissors. Here’s a close-up of the stamping. I’d appreciate any information.


Also picked up some miscellaneous stuff. Durham Duplex Razor ($5.00), Combination Sharpening Stone (Free), Calibri and Barlow Butane Lighters ($3/each), and Senco Linseed Oil ($0.50).

Online local auction ($7). WW2 Navy cot w/ mosquito bar and net. Looks new.

Honestly, these are the bet cots I've slept on. I've had a used one forever and it has almost no sag. This one looks like it's never been used and with the mosquito netting it definitely going to be my go to camping cot.​

Needville, TX has a city wide yard sale twice a year. Last Saturday was the fall event. I rolled up on this one yard sale and the lady had about 10 items. One of the items was a plastic little tool box with drawers. It was full of end mills! I asked how much and she said, "make an offer." I say, "how about $40". She countered $60 and the deal was done. So I got about 200 end mills, drill bits, taps etc. for $60. I love yard sales!!
