State Select Anode location

I have a 19 year old State Select water heater, propane, on well water. Finally got the rotten egg smell and figure it is the anode rod.

Model PR650ccvit
I've been to the website, but no good drawings.

The anode rod location is not easily visible, I suspect it is under the Power vent.

Any Ideas?

At 19 years old your anode is probably long gone. That isn’t what’s causing your rotten egg smell.

Answering my own question, it is under the power vent. And not in too bad of shape

My 1985 unit (Bradford White?) was still working 30+yrs later when I moved in.

One day the bottom element died, come to find out the sludge had built up so far it overheated. I swapped it, then swapped the heater a few years later.

When I cut it open, The ceramic was starting to fail, contributing to the buildup. There either wasn't an anode or it was long since decomposed.

Oh I didn't take it that way.

Crazy I'd barely been here 2 years, apparently the previous owner let it get BAD. I sucked/scraped enough out to get enough space for the element and swapped heaters a few months later IIRC.
